Great video. Thank you Unnie for sharing with us the details about Seollal. In Southern state of India, Tamil Nadu & Kerala we also celebrate new year which comes in the month of April (usually on April 14th or 15th). The celebration is the same like S.Korea. We meet our friends & relatives, get blessings from our elders and receive money, we have a traditional meal in banana leaf and go to worship places. In other parts of India, it is celebrated on different months as per tradition.

所以叫“ Lunisolar New Year“更合适。

      @@space.qk29 你说的没有错。

haha Silly cousins. They really ask a lot of strange questions. ;) It seems people in different countries are not that different. But as for the new year, even though it is celebrated through various events, even festivals and fireworks - since there are relatively many Chinese people working in my country - celebrating Lunar new year is not a part of tradition and for the rest of the people it's a normal day.

Another new year, people are still arguing Chinese, Korean, or Lunar New Year.
I don't think they are good names, as I knew so many nationalists
"I am not Chinese, so I don't that name!"
    "Ours is more authentic!"
"We have our Korean local traditions about it!"
    "It is originally from China!"
So people just want to "own it". But if you really like something, you will hope it widely spread. You will share it, instead of owning it. As a lover, the best case is that people take it as just the New Year instead of "certain certain culture".
To distinguish the common Gregorian New Year, there are many options other than the annoying "Lunar New Year". In Japanese, it's often called Old January, and in Chinese, it's sometimes called New Spring.
