Not to rain on any parade here, but if the project lumber were 4×8 sheets of something, a 30 ft length could be possible without waste of wood because the sheet being cut in half could be used on the front or back wall, but it's going to be U shaped, so no problem. That is IF T-111 or similar sheet material is used, it could be board and batten, only they know
What ever they do is what they do ive been watching them for long time bro just stop all that comments about ohh u should of done this and that and size likk stop is it your build noooo soo shushhh and giv give them props dude whatever they do is what they do im sorry bt its enough and there money is there money so stop askin how much they bought all that wood lik its annoying..........very...........
16x32 would eliminate tons of wood waste and save money and tons of headaches. Built quite a few homes over the years. Just some friendly advice. Great spot for the tiny home! excited to see the build progress!
I'm excited for you , to start building the tiny house. Working together can also be a lot of fun and you collect more memories together ❤️ Congratulations on 170 K.
I’ve been watching long enough now to know that when you say it’ll be fine it always is 😂 honestly there’s so much opinion and red tape around building structures but many of the jobs I did “wrong” outlasted the ones I did right. Very excited for this build 💪
So happy for you guys! This sure will keep you very busy. You might want to keep the dimensions in line with stock lumber lengths. Less cutting involved makes your project easier. Can’t wait to see the progress. Good luck!
I’m looking forward to see how your build goes! It’s gonna be great! But like a couple of other commenters said Adjust your build to use full length lumber. The build will go quicker and less wasted cutoffs
So glad you were finally able to start the build! Can't wait to see it progress. I have confidence that with good weather you can get it done in about 4 months give or take a couple if weeks. Love ya guys!
24:35; Trax on Perkins road in Stillwater gets truckloads of oddball building stuff. (& other randomness items) they had several truckloads of windows for 50.00 to 100.00 & there were actually MATCHING ones to be found! BIG ones; odd shaped ones and regular ones too...
I'm very glad to see you're starting your tiny house and watching you do the shed to house I did miss your tiny house build but your designs and layout for that shed I can only imagine what your tiny house will look like looking forward to future videos
Hey guys, don't forget a vapor barrier over what you got completed. Should use a 6mil. plastic sheeting. Should be able to get that at Lowes or Homedepot or local building supply. Just a suggestion. Good Luck on you build.
Watch out for those water/pond area's, they make a great breeding ground for insects and mosquitoes. Also, a foundation should be based on "undisturbed" earth. Putting a house on a loose packed dirt pile is asking for the house to settle and shift. You'd be better off using some precast concrete pier footings to build your house on.
From my experience, solid block would be better than hollow block for foundation purposes. Of course, the leveling is most of the work, so just replacing the hollow block with solid would not require much effort. You may have planned this anyway. Nearly all you do works out well.
@@TheCrockers well I guess if you want the house to collapse in some places from the weight that's what you can do..or end up doing everything over and over like you.did at the other place
I just read why you got those blocks and understand. But there is no support laying them on their sides. Those are fence blocks and the only support is the other way. Loved the video and congrats.
I’m so excited for you both. This way you’ll be dry, warm and comfortable for the fall/winter. Then you can start your barn dominium next year after many drawings and revamps to pick your forever home 🏡. Oh my gosh. 3 homes in the next 2 years. Jared’s and your 2.
Hello guys. My name is Linda I am from Calfornia.Have been following you guys since day 1 when Danielle was driving at Jason's tiny house and tipped over and have been following crockers for couple years.Any way I think you 2 are super cute couple and wish you all the luck.
It's good to see y'all get started, this weather has been chaotic and y'all have some beautiful land so the view is worth the blood, sweat and cuss words in the end, after hearing when Jason's birthday is I now know why I like the Crocker boys..you remind me of different aspects of myself being a fellow august born...lol
this was interesting, I haven't seen this kind of foundation before, and I thought maybe it will help keep snakes and critters from hiding under the little house
WTG Congrats on the start of your tiny home!🎉🎊 it’s so nice to see a couple working together for a common goal. You both are doing a great job. Can’t wait to see the tiny home when it’s completed. Be safe God Bless🙏🏻🥰
Just a reminder to add copper flashing between the cinder block and pretreated lumber to prevent the reaction between the blocking and chemical used the lumber.
Hey Jason and Danielle, Congratulations on starting the tiny house. I was just watching a channel called "Handeeman" and back in Jan and Feb 2017, he built a off grid rainwater catchment system that is built on the ground. It's cheaper than building a traditional roof catchment system. Maybe that is something that would work for you all.
Hi I am from Santo Domingo, R,D, I am so glad that you too are going to build your tiny house you are graet team. I saw all videos of the first tiny house and I enjoy it so much. God bless you . Sorry my engish is not very well Good lock
We own a plumbing & electrical business but my husband has done masonry w/ his Dad's company growing up, helped his grandparents on their hog farm, built many homes, done all the plumbing & electrical on many new & old homes as well as commercial....in other words, he can do it all but loves plumbing & electrical. He has taught me over our 20 years of marriage how to do it all too & we've done MANY jobs together when we first started our plumbing & electrical business. I've laid thousands of square ft of flooring with him & pulled my fair share of wiring. Lol. Danielle, you will be SO HAPPY to know how to do things! I know I am. I thank GOD for my hardworking husband EVERY DAY! To have a man that's not afraid of work is a blessing & a supportive woman beside him makes it even better. These days this younger generation is pure lazy! Not all, but most! I am so happy & excited for y'all! Y'all deserve all the happiness & blessings this world has to offer & more! My husband always says "a man that doesn't work doesn't eat" & that's IN THE BIBLE! Enjoy yourselves working side by side even on those difficult days. Y'all will have beautiful memories to tell your grandchildren one day. (Now....let the "you should have done's" begin 🤣)
I think it's Fantastic to have a goal. Because I have been watching for over 2 years and you have not made any date you made. Good luck. You can do it.
@@TheCrockers I know and that good. I'm talking about your others. Like finishing the other tiny house. But I think Danelle will keep you in check and you will get it done
Glad you’re finally able to start the build on the TH. The area reminds me of arid desert. There are yuccas and cactus that grow here in Chattanooga so Im sure they would be great addition to the landscape if you wanted to add some plants around the house. The yuccas have beautiful white blooms and the cactus does have the prickly pears that are edible.
Hey Jason and Danielle! I am glad you were able to start your tiny house. I am excited for yall. I think you can finish by your birthday Jason. If you can get the supplies you need.
Bro, sis, omg I'm so happy and excited for you guys, the beginning of the dream turning into reality, don't get any better than that except you have sis ( Mrs. Crocker) working by your side. I know you probably won't let me but I'd love to come help, construction is in my blood, a lot like you bro I love building. I'll bring plenty of water and Gatorade. I don't remember the last time I was this excited except maybe Shootdang Fest. Bro, sis I love you and Jared ( Shootdang Fest Cougar Hunter) Crocker lol. God bless you and our entire RUclips family 👪 🙏 ❤️ 💙 ♥️
And so it begins. I'm so excited for you both. Not sure what your reason is for the deadline but I'm sure it's is good one for you. Take your time and enjoy the build😊
Jason I’m so glad you have shaved and cut your hair..will help with all this work. Danielle can pull hers back in a pony tail. Keep a big container of water there for drinking or splashing on face n neck. Many people who do outside work like this dress in long sleeves cottons… stay safe..can get a heat stroke.
You guys would save so much time on doing the foundation by using 2 metalpipes. Maybe like 4meters long. 50mm thick. Like waterpipes. Level them in the ground. Maybe like 60cm apart. Fill with gravel between them and drag a sturdy board between the pipes. Then you just put all the stones out. Hard to explain in english. We use laser and the pipemethod for most stuff here in sweden. Foundations. Stone driveways. And others. Cool channel. I Will follow.
August 2nd is MY 🎂🤗 As long as you all do what you do best and upcycle, you will get around the shortages. I believe you all can do it and if not you'll still be 90% done at the rate your going.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU BOTH. I WOULD SO LOVE TO BE DOING WHAT YOUR DOING AND WHAT YOU ACCOMPLISHED IN JUST A FEW DAYS IS AMAZING. ONE THING I'D LIKE TO SAY IS WHAT MY DAD ALWAYS SAID.....MAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS DIVISABLE BY 4 AND YOU'LL HAVE LESS WASTE OF MATERIALS. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR ROOF WILL BE? A HIP ROOF, STANDARD 4/12 PITCH OR SHED STYLE....I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS PROGRESS. WHAT A GREAT SPOT FOR A HOUSE. PLEASE TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE.
Finally, the day has come! Tiny house building. Nice place, but I would want more shade. OK is hot. Remember if y’all add to your family, make a 2 bedroom, or design to add on. Near the office /entry is great for taking care of the animals, etc. it’s great to have a rocky base. Danielle already has been introduced to being a “ranch-women”.
Love the area, but as retired experienced home builders, you should probable go 16x32 for no waste of wood. So happy for yall!
Not to rain on any parade here, but if the project lumber were 4×8 sheets of something, a 30 ft length could be possible without waste of wood because the sheet being cut in half could be used on the front or back wall, but it's going to be U shaped, so no problem. Man I was just thinking the exact same thing👍🏼
Took the words right out of my mouth !! 16 x 32 and you will save lumber and save labor !!
I do appreciate the advice, but the way we have everything planned out, there will be very little waste if any
