  • This is my review of the Brooks Ghost Max road running shoes, the latest in the hugely popular Ghost range, with a ginormous wedge of cushioning and a midsole rocker that comes with some pretty big claims in regards to protecting runners from injuries like plantar fasciitis, metatar-salgia, Morton’s neuroma, bunions, Achilles issues and arthritis. Am I cynical about these claims? Yes I am. So I contacted podiatrist and injury rehab specialist Nick Knight from NK active for more input so we’ll hear his expert analysis of the Ghost Max in this film. He’s been a guest on this channel a few times, see his playlist here • Nick Knight - podiatrist and it’s also available in podcast format if you search your usual podcast provider for ‘Nick Knight Wild Ginger Running’.
    ALERT!
    If you're thinking, that's weird, Claire doesn't usually review road shoes on this channel, in fact she rarely reviews anything anymore, you'd be right! With the cost of freakin' everything going up and sky high nursery fees for my toddler I have to prioritise paid work like race films, the Patreons' monthly competition, editing Summit magazine for the BMC and writing for Advnture.com. So when I told Brooks I wouldn't have time to review the new Ghost Max they offered me a small amount of cash. Thanks Brooks! I've still given this shoe exactly the same review as usual, you can probably tell this by watching it... but let me know in the comments below if you think I've been bought in any way! ;)
    PLEASE HELP!

    I did the middle 1/3rd of the Arc50 today a selection of wellies, football boots and some rock climbing boots would be the ideal solution. It was super boggy apart from the rivers and the rock scrambling. Let’s hope for a dry January

    Thanks for the overview!
    I'm interested in these as a runner with hallux rigidus who needs a rocker, width, and a stiff sole. Nice to hear from a podiatrist.

    Great advice here. My podiatrist also recommended a rocker motion to ease off Morton's Neuroma and they specifically suggested Hoka but seems that this Ghost has the same idea. Hoka are 4mm drop so a little less.

    Thank you so much for this perfect shoe review! 🙏 Mine came in the mail today but unfortunately I currently have the flu and can‘t test them right away, can‘t wait 😅
    Edit: I also fight with metatarsalgia, some shoes do better for me than others, the Ghost Max sounds really good in that respect as well, I can‘t take shoes that are too mushy soft…

    Is it good for a long walk or standing all day by not getting the heel pain?!

      Yes, I do think they help there as well

    Don’t lower drops increase ankle dorsiflexion which would not help ankle injuries, despite the rocker?

    • @wildgingerruns
      @wildgingerruns  4 месяца назад

      Yes that's what I thought too, but apparently the rocker solves everything according to podiatrist Nick in this film. From wearing them they don't feel like the drop is particularly low, if that helps also.

      @@wildgingerrunsthank you! I’ve tried Hoka in the past for the rocker, but the drop never agreed with my ankles. Maybe I’ll have to try these.

    She’s just holding the dirty shoe like she hasn’t run 100s of miles on dirty roads lol😂
