im a trucker and my fav truck is a 389 long nose Pete. I drive a 389 long nose Pete with a cat C3408 under the hood.

Those are some cool guys! Several years ago I just randomly stopped there, and talked to um, they let me roam all over the place. It was like a museum! Some awesome and unique stuff.

This is my Dad and my boys' biggest pastime. We have my Dad's B61 Mack he restored from when he hauled steel in the 60's. They would love this collection of old trucks. ❤ Get it, Cody!!

Stay away from the 121 brake system. That was the first generation of ABS to be installed on big trucks (18 wheelers). It was a NIGHTMARE!

In my 20s I worked several years at a Cummins Diesel repair shop. Our biggest owner/driver customer base had Peterbuilts.
Most of the ones owned by companies were Macks or Kenworths
We had a lot of local delivery trucks that were Ford and GMC.
If you think a tune up on a car is hard. Try doing one on one of those big diesels😊

The first truck I ever hauled cows with was a 1985 359 Pete. Traded it for an 02 379. I would love to have that 359 back, it definitely wasn't as comfortable to sit in but I loved that truck.

White Pete is a 377, I used to hate them as we’ll definitely not a new Pete, just modern for it’s time😂, I’m a trucker myself I drive all sorts of trailers but stay busy in the belly dump business.

The older W900's are good trucks, but it takes three football fields to turn one around.

If you want it buy it! I’m personally a fan of 80’s-90’s Freightliner cabovers with the Detroit diesel.
My grandpa was a trucker he used to drive the west coast turnaround I think it’s called from Alabama to Texas and back (yellow jackets) I believe were his thing or soaked toothpicks but every time we’d pass a Peterbuilt my dad always said “how’s your Peter built” now I do the same thing every single time😂😅

One way to tell if it’s a 359 or a 379, the 359s have the rubber boots that go from the front of the breathers into the side of the hood, the 379s do to but it’s different

Yes sir, I had 18 wheeler toys when I was a little boy in 80s growing up. Most boys had hot wheels hot rods I had 18 wheelers. I wanted so bad to drive them.

Peterbilts are my favorite truck as well, although I've drove freightliner trucks mostly.
My dad could tell you everything about 18 wheelers. He was the best diesel mechanic in South Alabama. (Mobile area).

My stepfather, mother, both brothers and brother in law we’re all owner operator over the road truckers which made me NEVER want a semi truck because I saw all the BS they went through

I was a company driver. Driven a Cascadia 13 speed. Detroit. And a Kenworth T-680. Company. I would buy that rig if I were you. And you could deliver round bales to customer's. I learned to drive on my Grandpa's International cab over. At our farm. Be safe and Enjoy.

Square trucks are such a pain in the butt to do maintaining on and the roundabout shape one’s are easy to do repairs on wires because it matched up with the power cords and I have a cousin and his wife is a pastor who does trucking and mistery work on Vinalhaven Maine island

Economic choice would be the Dodge. That old 359 oilfield winch truck has been worked to the ground. Gonna be a money pit for you. When you take it home you are not going to hear the end of it . Gonna take up all your spare time. Take the yellow school bus that is up front.

I'm happy you are looking at trucks but you have to have a work plan for it , they are not cheap and to restore for an every day driver.
