Remember when he was demoted from White Lantern to Green Lantern in 2017? Never understood why the respective comic portrayed that as a good thing. Like...he went from being an all-powerful super God to just...a Green Lantern.
On one hand you are right. On the other hand as White Lantern he was a target with bad consequences if he lost or something, and also the writers tended to keep him away from the action so he wouldn't solve everything right away. But surprisingly some of Kyle's best moments in years were as a regular Green Lantern again.
Its prolly because its hard to write a person with hardly any limits who could do almost anything, including warping reality. Its the Franklin Richards effect, he is all powerful which just makes him harder to write lol, so you hardly ever see him in a story nor see him get his own stories. Fans get to wonder if he's so strong why wasn't said character involved during said comic arc, or how come he doesn't just fix the planet or even universe. Limits are needed and without having antagonists that could match his level it would be a boring run with no consequence. As a green lantern they got to show his creativity with a green lantern ring while keeping the life or death stakes on the line.

I think Kyle as a white Lantern makes sense. I don't see why DC acts like they write themselves in a corner...as a white Lantern..why not treat him similar to how Marvel treats the Silver Surfer. Being a white Lantern by itself should be a restricting trait of him doing so..b/c you'd think he'd have to maintain some sort of balance.
I wish Kyle Rayner was still GL. He was fun, young, imaginative and light hearted. Hal Jordan, although competent and reliable, is yesterday's GL. He feels dated and too 1950ish. His will is strong but his constructs are basic and not very creative. Basically, he's your dad's GL
I have met Ron Marz (writer) and Darryl Banks (artist) both are the co creators of Kyle Rayner and I have to say that Darryl had a lot of influence over the Kyle Rayner storylines, ideas behind the constructs, and costumes also. Ron and Darryl were a dynamic team up I would love to see them work together on anything Green Lantern Corps again. But I think Darryl Banks needs to be recognized in your video for everything he has done with the origins of Green Lantern Kyle Rayner.

I started reading comics in 1994. Kyle Rayner was the GL I started with and I identified with, both not knowing the ropes, new to this whole stuff. He screwed up and screwed up bad at first, but I stuck to him. To this day, with all he's gone through and despite the flak he got (and still gets), Rayner still has a place in my heart. Thank you for covering my boy Kyle, Rob. Wish you good times with the GF. And be careful with her. Kyle's track record with the ladies is almost a meme in itself. Oh, Gordon 6:50 it's not just Gundam. He also pulled a Lanternzord shortly after his 1st battle with Psimon, which is where he ran a stint with the Titans (Arsenal being Leader), where he met Donna Troy.
From the VERY LITTLE I know of this character, I really like him, I especially like that he's an artist a lot. I just wish he was in more on-screen adaptations

The biggest thing you got wrong is that Kyle/Ion didn't give up his power because he feared being corrupted. Superman had a talk with him when he was doing things like stopping wars by preventing guns from firing and terraforming Africa so food would grow in starving areas. He told Kyle that it's not superheroes place to solve all of humanitys problems for them, they need to learn and grow as a species and solve these problems themselves. If someone does it for them, they'll never learn. Kyle was literally playing god like Hal did, but he didn't fear corruption. He realized Superman was right and gave up the power. Also, Hal wasn't exactly trying to make things more peaceful, he was going to fix things that had gone wrong by recreating the multiverse. Coast City yes, but also Krypton exploding and such.
It always astounded how long it took DC to become up with a reason for the GL weakness. I mean I understand that maybe the fan base at the time just ran with it but. If your hero could be defeated by a bottle of mustard maybe, go in-depth with it a little bit.
John Stewart is my favorite Green Lantern. Guy Gardner is my #2 favorite. John recently got some love & respect now they need to do the same thing for my boy Guy. Dude is badass. The two of them together is a mean ass 1-2.
To answer your question as to where Kyle is currently, he was in the Titans book after Venditti ended his Hal Jordan and the GL Corps run. However, the Titans book was canceled so he’s back to having almost no role in current stories

Kyle Rayner is the "Gohan" of the green lanterns. The most powerful but also the most nerfed so hal Jordan (the "Goku") doesn't look irrelevant

Kyle Reiner is my favorite Green Lantern. I really hope an artist continues his story sometime in 2022 ( or later).
