I recently saw alot of people say "venom never wants to bond with Peter again." "Venom hates peter" and as someone who's always liked the idea of Peter being venom perfect host, they just both had some growing to do at the time, I LOVE this
Could you elaborate on why venom wouldn't want to bond with Peter? Is it to do with Peter's moral code or brains?
@jaybinks871 apparently mix of resentment for being abandoned, and Peter being easily tempted by power. Marvel themselves were even playing into this idea for a few years and in one guide book listed Peter as the least compatible host venom ever had, nut with the retcons in this story, it's going back to what venom would say/believe in the 90s and early 2000s of Peter being his true perfect host

The symbiont's bonded with eddie due to hatred the symbiont's bonded to him because it plans to use Eddie to prove a point but it still loves peter because it still called him saint peter the symbiont's worship peter

Honestly it’s an idea I’ve wanted for the longest time, Peter and the Symbiote “bonding” again. For years I always saw the Symbiote as a scorned love, it wanted Peter and wanted to help him so bad, but got lost in the sauce of adrenaline and kicking ass so much that it lost its way. Which also made Pete’s decision to get rid of it so much more difficult for it to process. Cause the funny thing is, that external media always turn the Black suit Spider-Man saga into a “athlete on drugs” story, when in reality, the opposite is true in the comics. Peter and his life were the drug that the Symbiote was addicted to, he was basically the perfect host.
When Peter and it split, it lashed out, it bonded with so many more in a bid to catch that high. As it said, it never truly wanted to kill Peter, the Symbiote was just too addicted to the rush of a host like Peter that it became insane and needed to hurt Peter to prove it was better off without him. And in there lays the fault of the Venom Symbiote, every host is playing a different tune than Peter.
Peter’s main thing is that despite having amazing gifts, and even when he got enhanced powers from the Symbiote, he never abused them. He respected the power that was given to him, without knowing it, he was being kind to the Symbiote. Whereas everyone after abused the Symbiote. Eddie used that power to hurt and to take his failures out on people that put him in his place, Flash while an amazing person, and a true hero, was using the suit to cosplay spider-man, to finally live up o what he thought was the greatest hero of all time, and be spider-man. The symbiote was stuck with people who themselves were chasing the high the symbiote offered, whilst forever the Symbiote just wanted to be with Pete again and feel the high.
So yeah, I know they won’t keep Spidy in the black suit for long, but honest to god I hope they do, and it leads to amazing stories down the road.

I LOVE your retrospection here, but I do have a correction...unless you're talking about later stories, when Peter first got the symbiote, it didn't really do a lot for him other than change into civilian clothes when he needed them and basically provide unlimited webbing. It didn't enhance his strength or size, it didn't produce tendrils for him to grapple villains with, it didn't act as "another spider-sense" or "eyes in the back of his head." It didn't give him the teeth or the claws. Heck, even though the changing clothes thing was awesome and Eddie Brock would later show the potential, Peter barely made any really good use of it! I know in later stories and "What Ifs" Pete got all sorts of awesome enhancements, but not in the initial story. Sorry if I'm being a nitpicker, I just wanted to clarify. Still love your take! Very well thought out!!
@@Goldenbane I was referring to the unlimited webbing, and should of clarified that. But you right, I should have said that the newer retcons made it that way. But oh well.
This was kinda already done when he fought Red Goblin. Peter and Venom set their differences aside for a couple years now. But that was in the spur of the moment, so its nice to have more focus on it
I agree with you, and I also think that's why every subsequent host of the Symbiote after Peter has Spider-man's spider symbol apart of its design. To basically remember him.
Something about Peter having a heart to heart with the Symbiote is strangely heartwarming. I know Peter would never want to become the King in Black but I would like the option to be thrown out there and see what he would do with that kinda power. Saint Peter indeed lending a helping hand.

I personally love this characterization of the Venom symbiote. It's honestly really sad and kind of heartbreaking to see the symbiote of all things at its lowest point. Not Eddie and the symbiote, not Dylan and the symbiote, but Venom alone. And seeing a more mature and experienced Peter Parker actually open up and consider the symbiote's own thoughts and feelings is super heartwarming. That is what Spider-Man would do

I love how Venom just needed that nudge from Peter to realize it carries a lot value all in itself, that it is not a tool but an individual who can make choices (good or bad) and live and learn from them. :)
I really like the retcon of Venoms origin, I think it adds to it more than it takes away. The symbiote could still say it was mad at Peter, but it still learned from him, that’s why he kept the symbol and why the bind was so perfect, Venom wanted to save Eddies life by giving him what he wanted, which is why it got so complicated because deep down Venom wanted it too
in fact symbiote are evil because they were created by darkness and were born, to destroyer multiverse and caused chaos in the multiverse that was created by knull, god symbiote and king of the abyss and he came before the creation of multiverse marvel, And And created most powerful weapons in marvel necrosword fist symbiote..
One thing I love to see is other characters in the Marvel universe recognising just how good of a person Peter actually is. From Daredevil to Emma Frost and now the Venom symbiote - let alone the countless others throughout the years! Despite the hardship Marvel editorial feel obligated to put Peter's character through, given the nature of his origin and every-man relatability, it almost feels cathartic to have other characters acknowledge his good heart and sacrifice, just to show that his efforts as a hero aren't in vain or unappreciated (like the Daily Bugle's former editor-in-chief would've had us believe).

I love how Pete came in with the chains instead of webs. I'm kinda hoping he and venom stick together at least for a little while.
Seeing Venom and Peter finally get to have an actual talk is amazing. And Peter giving it the Uncle Ben speech to Venom was just *chefs kiss*.
i love that Peter and Venom had finally had a talk and come to an understanding. We never got that in the past because Peter just saw Venom as a monster that was corrupting him. After seeing the Symbiote became better after being Flashes host and Eddies host after his redemption Peter is allowing Venom to open up to him .
I like peter getting the venom suit back.
Now I'm very sad it's temporary, but with all of the ~retcons~ revelations of what Peter was SUPPOSED to do with the Venom, this is one of Peter's best moments in years.

I always wanted Peter to get Venom again, I'm glad he finally did and hopefully he keeps him for a bit.
Honestly I'm looking forward to mj after having her own superpower adventures being able to empathize with peter more.
(+ with her own luck powers she can still be saved by him and fight with him making her more involved in future storys. It's the perfect set up for them FINALLY getting married for real. No guilt from spidey putting her in danger and MJ and him can spend time together doing superhero date nights!)

I like that Venom is facing every decision like this because it shows that he really is good. Bad people don't feel guilty about what they've done. And now Venom and Peter are going to have a much needed talk.
Venom War is shaping up to be good. I just really hope we dont reverse the progress of certain characters. I hope Eddie doesnt become a villain again, i hope venom doesnt make peter into a jerk leading to him and Eddie no longer being on good terms, and i really hope that we will get Dylan as Venom or at least his own variation of Venom. We need progress in comics, not constant returns to status quos.

eddie hasn't been a true villain since the 90's. he's had periods when he was more of an anti-hero.
Man I really hope they don’t regress again, but you know how comics go and the recent Spider-Man run has been all about regression. Ben Reilly became a villain AGAIN after the jackal incident and his redemption arc, when all that needed to happen was a real conversation between him and Peter. Peter lost Mary Jane again AND black cat smh

Thank you for bringing us up to date, for those of us who have been out of it for a little while. Wow, that was awesome! I hope Pete keeps Venom for a little time, but likely he will give it up in another issue or two.
Ever since Venom #18 (2023), where the Symbiote and Eddie says Spidey was born to be a KING-IN-BLACK, but life happened so Eddie has to be the king instead.
I feel like we get to see that here, if Spidey and the Symbiote were not against each other and instead be able to communicate and work together; Does Spidey have a potential to be a KING-IN-BLACK?
Honestly, I love "Symbiote Spider-man" so much, that I wouldn't mind seeing a storyline where Peter serves as KING-IN-BLACK for a few issues. My favorite Spider-man storyline of all time is "The Cosmic Adventures" where he gained Captain Universe's powers, and KING-IN-BLACK feels like it would sort of be more stuff like that, so bring it on!!!

Peter's been a punching bag for so long. Not to mention this crazy relationship he and the symbiote have had lol. If I'm not mistake the eventuallity even went on to mention that Peter's the best guy for the job, but due to how fate turned out now it's Eddies. Really excited to see where this goes, hopefully it's good!
I don't know why but when Venom talks about meeting Peter for the first time and calls him a saint, it made me emotional... damn!

While I'm debating on how I feel about the Eddie not having cancer retcon, I do like the inclusion of Venom viewing Peter as as a saint like figure I think is a cool decision to make. Afterall Venom is correct, his morals and views initally varied from what Earth's were but as he's grown and worked with others he has a more defined view of right and wrong that I enjoy.

Finally!! The Venom Symbiote got some much needed therapy! Peter gave it the most solid answer possible. Everyday IRL we all have the capacity to do right and wrong things. But we make mostly the right choices, so thus we still have a functional society.
Spider-Man later on during Venom War should briefly die and meet the Eventuality. So that he'll have all five of his questions answered. And learn he was born for the Symbiote God.

God I love Venom + Spider-man so much, I pretty much grew up with the Toby's spiderman triology , and seeing Peter and Venom finally resolve the bad blood between them and act together is so awesome

Gotta love that Peter is so dope, he imprinted on the symbiote as opposed to every other host who has felt imprinted by Venom itself.
I’m excited to see Venom bonded to Peter again, it’s a really interesting concept and dynamic imo. It’s my favorite part of Peter’s story but isn’t given a whole lot of attention and is usually either a one-off comic where by the end Peter has separated from Venom again, or is given like 2 episodes in TV shows.

I needed this. I took a break from marvel comics and comics as a whole. I really only got into comics because i wanted to write a fanfic so i found my way down this rabbit whole. I was not a fan of what they were doing with spiderman but GOD this is the refreshing restart i needed to get back into it. I really really hope peter keeps venom, at the very least for a long while. Hopefully its permanently but knowing marvel it wont last but i can hope.
Imagine if Spider-Man's first symbiote was the All-Black instead of Venom. It would be wild to witness.

Spider-Man was never Venom. The name Venom was used once Eddie Brock was bonded to the Symbiote because they are poison to Spider-Man.

I love this so much, its like Peter has become the Uncle Ben for so many different heros, and not finally Vemon himself, years and years later finally having a talk to get their heads straight with each other no more misunderstandings or warped perceptions of each other and realizing their both just 2 guys trying to do the right thing.
Btw i do feel the talk was a little fanservicy with Peter talking topless the whole time. Looks good. Very expressive. Ahhhhhhh Pouting Vemon face!!! I never knew i needed to see this adorable face in my life till now!!!!

It's a pretty big retcon that makes a lot of past things weird, but it's better than "dead pool put the symbiote on first and drove it crazy" I'm glad this gets rid of that

I love that he was trying to do good . Yes he could still have been mad but still wanted to do good for Peter. It fits perfectly for me
I used to be an avid comic reader; the likes of Judge Dread and the like. I got older and fell out of love with it, I’d buy issues and read them really quickly or sometimes end up with two and sometimes the enjoyment just wasn’t there; the cost too wasn’t helping. During this time I ended up with a SpiderMan Venom Carnage big issue (this would have been the 90s) really liked it, the art was great. Then something happened, around the time the OG SpiderMan films came out, Toby M. The popularity of the character became bigger and somehow my perception of it changed. It became a character that, instead of rooting for, I’d more likely be calling for the baddies to win. This wasn’t Toby’s fault, I happen to like the first two movies he did. But , now hearing this story; the way you pick out parts, how you make it relatable.
