Just recently worked out my cue action is not straight and is probably the biggest reason i miss sitters. Will be practicing that Balk Line tip. Great tips yet again!
Just literally had your issue but instead of fixing my “bad cueing”, I just tried to learn with spin and stuff. Trust me just put balls straight without worrying that you’re not feathering in the middle and play the shot.
How did you work out your cue action is not straight? Any tips for investigating?
@@richardr2703 Do as hendry said in the video, put the cueball on the brown spot and send it up and down the spots. If the cueball comes back to the right of your tip, you put unintentional right spin, if it comes to the left, you put left spin. If it comes straight back and hits your tip again, you're nice n straight
@@richardr2703 I was messing around potting straight blues into the middle pocket. When playing them softly I would pot 9 out of 10, when using a bit of power I would consistently miss. I then noticed the blues would end up hitting the right side of the pocket always. This means I'm hitting the cue ball slightly to the right which pushes it to the left which then pushes the blue to the right. Not sure why I'm doing this yet but I'm going to experiment in the club to see if i can work that out.
The tip in the video says to strike slower and smoother. I’ll be trying it out this week.

Back in the day I was a Davis fan and you came onto the scene spoiling it all for me - because you were so bloody good. Thanks for making these Cue Tips vids, even at my advanced age I'm able to learn and have definitely missed fewer sitters since paying more attention to my cue control. Good luck with the nomination - routing for you - which is not what I did in the 80's! 🙂

Two shots stick out in my mind as some of the best i ever played were blue off its spot from the jaws of the green pocket. As straight as can be and as far as can be. Very satisfying...one was to win a frame,the other a bonus lol

Very helpful video, I never realised that I was hitting the cue ball too far from centre when applying side. I takes sense now, cheers Steve!

I commented on here the other day, get some darts players on, and combine it with a darts match against them. Stephen gives them a 70 point start, they give him 250 points a leg.
