Enjoyed reminiscing my childhood at the carousel and trains at Griffith Park, my home. My lifelong dreams of living near Disney Studios came full circle a few years ago. We used to go to the Greek Theater for concerts and the Griffith Park Observatory was our first date. The second date was Disneyland & my husband and I are still alive to enjoy it. We rode the miniature trains a few years back too. We tried living in the California desert and Upstate New York but always ended up coming back home. Now being near Griffith Patk & Walt Disney headquarters is where we shall stay. Thanks for these beautiful memories. ❤️🙏🏻🌈🌴🌳🌲
My dad used to take us there as kids, I loved that place. We took our son about 4 years back he loved it. There's another train museum in Perris the cars are so nicely restored.
Hi Adam - You sure brought memories of my childhood. I lived in Burbank at three different locations when I was in elementary and junior high. I used to walk to the Griffith Park stables during the summer and clean up after the horses for a free ride on a horse. I also remember walking by St. Joseph Hospital on Buena Vista Ave many times, where as you know, Walt passed away. I'm 74 now and enjoy your videos very much. Thank you.
Grew up in So Cal 1960-70 and this was my favorite place. The small gray loco was a industrial loco used to move freight cars around in a factory or plant. They could move 2-3 at a time. Thanks for showing how this place is today.....I hope to visit 2023.
Loved this collab with Brickey, Adam! What a treat! My grandfather (who was a train fanatic) would have loved going to Griffith park! I wish I knew about this place growing up! Thank you!🤗🤗
@@ItsPrincessBarbie I think the climate outweighs any negatives that California may have.Southern California is the most appealing visually to me...aswell as nevada,Arizona,New mexico etc.
Adam, this was such a good video for me, thank you. I was getting choked up through a lot of it. Brickey... I follow you and love your spirit. The friendship on this was just wonderful. I think you are a pure spirit. Thank you for a happy spot in this day to you both.
I remember as a child. I'm 63 now my Grandmother Josephine use to take me to Griffith Park.......Thanks for the memories Adam.....Oh I loved the carousel.
Also filmed at the abandoned zoo: Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment when they go undercover to stop the gang. Instantly recognized it! Thanks for the stickers!
This is so nostalgic for me. I actually remember going to the old zoo and vaguely remember riding the train. I also had numerous birthday parties in the trains at Travel Town. Good to be home, Thanks Adam.
Alriiiight! Another day in my backyard. Glad to see you enjoying the Burbank/Noho/ Griffith Park area. My kids used to love riding all 3 of the Griffith Park railroads. So much awesome history here 🚂
The little gray train engine is a "Switch Engine". They use them occasionally in freight yards to assemble train cars but mostly now a days in large industry settings to pull cars in and out for loading/unloading. Not used so much in this era.
That stairway was in the Police Academy movie with Bobcat Goldwthait! Oh, I will hit that Disney train when I visit my daughter in the future. That train ride and museum is so COOL!
To answer Brickey's question about Opryland, No. It closed in 1997 (the year I was born) but some of its rides were relocated to different parks across the country if not the world. Where I'm from, Washington, we have the Shoot-The-Chute from Opryland called Old Mill Scream at my home park, Wild Waves. The ride's name got changed to Lumberjack Falls. What a fantastic vlog giving great detail and context about how Walt drew inspiration for Disneyland.
We lived near by Griffith park in the early 60's. I was around 4 years old in 1963 and my dad would take my brother and me to Griffith park to fly glider planes and kites. I remember a very long hill side where there would be 40 to 50 people flying kites and planes. Enjoyed the video Adam brought back some memories.
Thanks for the fun vlog Adam. Just to let you know Opryland Park closed many years ago. The Opry Mills Mall was built on the former park site. Now you know...😊
I know you live in Florida now, but I have missed your LA content. I am glad you are visiting the west coast! I lived in Glendale for 5 years, so a lot of good memories of that area.
Great Video, my first time there and was thrilled to see you in line for the barn! Thanks for the Selfie! And even got to see myself and my son in the Vlog, in a reflection of a shaving kit mirror, but still cool! An amazing place to visit! Everyone should go see this when in the area. Hard to believe it is free, and even the souvenir prices are great! Thanks again for all the great videos and for all the great places you take us!
I was just at Disneyland for the first time a few days ago and noticed that handcart sitting there when I was in line for the train ride. Very cool to see it's history goes that far back!
If you want to see some awesome trains.... make it out to the Illinois Railway museum on a weekend they are running steam trains...I believe every other weekend. it is awesome. Tons of barns and trains to walk thru!

Visiting full sized Travel Town railroad museum, Live Steamers area next door and merry go round was an epic adventure as a kid with my brother in the 1960s and with my daughters in 1980s. An all day family outing in just a little corner of Griffith Park. PS - old Los Angeles zoo was used as location in many TV series like CHIPs, T.J. Hooker, The Rockford Files, etc. Great place for a short day hike.
Adam, sometime when your in Ely, NV, the Nevada Northern RR has full size trains running including steam. And its true, if you sit up in the front behind the engine, you can feel and smell the cinders falling all around you. Another mostly volunteer run RR with a full size workshop. Once we were riding the train, you go by the local girls emporium/bar, etc., and some of the girls were out back grilling hamburgers and waved as we went by. After all, this is Nevada 200+ miles or so, north of Vegas. On US route 50, the loneliest road in America.
I’m a member of the San Francisco zoo, and they also had enclosures built during the early 20th century that are too small now. They are working on bigger and more appropriate enclosures for the animals, but some of the old ones are still occupied. But they let the animals use several adjoining ones so they have more space. It’s a matter of financing. I must have been to the Griffith park zoo at one time but I would have been a baby. I know I’ve been to travel town with the cars and trains. Dad and Grandpa were into those!
It’s amazing that some viewers actually think your job is to provide content for their benefit! You’ve invited us to observe a narrow slice of your life and interests…if we also enjoy it, then great! If not, move on to the next video. Adam loves Disney and baseball, get over it! A

In case someone hasn’t said so (but probably has) the choice was made to clean up and convert the old zoo into something they could leave as a point of interest.
