- In this video, I have explained the polarization theory and pi bonding theory to explain the trans effect of ligands. Polarization theory is applicable for the ligands which are Sigma donor like halogens. Pi bonding theory is applicable for the ligands which have pi bonding or pi bonding empty orbitals.

Sir I guess , one mistake is there in the polarization theory . It should have been MLX3 type structure not ML3X . Or the X ligand should have higher polarizability . It is creating confusion.

Yes... I was thinking that too... If I has higher polarizibility then I-M bomd should be stronger and the opposite should be weaker so the substitution should be of Cl not I
