2007 VW Rabbit with a Mid engined Tesla swap. Split Model S motor custom designed gearbox hooked directly to a 2019 S550 Mustang Track Pack differential and suspension.
way to go, nice build. My 07 has been sitting for the last 2 yrs and im trying to figure out what to do with it but this is a nice option. Just need to find the shop.
where are you located? i'm looking to convert my working diesel 1981 vw caddy truck. possibly keep manual trans or not. it's front wheel drive I could slip in an electric rear axle instead tbd. I'd be interested in paying to get it swapped. let me know! cheeers!
@@Roadstercycle ok well I'm located in pittsburg CA. appreciate the efforts you are doing. if you can ever pencil in time for my small truck build let me know. I'd like to see specifics such as range and cost from your perspective.
What is the gear ratio inside your custom cast gear box.? One half of the stock Model S TESLA gear reduction was 3.12 to one, or 3.12 x 3.12= 9.73 total gear reduction for the Model S.
3.12, used the first 2 gears. Elimnated the differential gear which would have went to 9.73. So now it's 3.12 x the differential ratio you are using. So 3.12 x 3.56 = 11.1. Should be insane in the 1/8 mile and autocross.
@@Roadstercycle, It definitely will be traction limited in its performance. Any thoughts of creating a product to sell using your casting. TESLA gears, bearings and shafts?
I’m thinking of converting my old dodge to an electric car do you have any idea what it would cost, mainly planning on making it quick but also for long distance travel
So you have to decide quick or long distance. Quick= 450lbs of batteries, Long Distance means 900lbs of batteries. Small motor or big motor? My guesstimate if you do your homework you could do it for $25 to $30 thousand. If you do it all yourself and use a base Tesla Large motor.
Congrats on another great build. Thanks for showing different setups using the LDU. Looking forward to your next video burning rubber on the Rabbit.
Congratulations, you've made a nice work with this beetle. Thanks to give advices and posts...

your creations are awesome! looking forward to your next build
Thank you, I have not found the next car yet but still looking.
You should Tesla Swap an E golf
would have been sweet on the old mk1 rabbit!
I agree but I wanted some up to date safety things like airbags and electric power steering.
you can also dodge challenger 2010 also tesla swapped electric version
Could you make a video about the aem system, that would be really interesting
I would actually love too but I'm deep in the learning curve.
I have a 66 mustang with a shot drivetrain and I was wondering if I could message you on what I would need to make it electric
Absolutely, jack@roadstercycle.com glad to help. Is it a fastback?
Where's the video of it running?
That's actually a good question. I totally forgot to make one. I'll make one when I get back from vacation.
@@Roadstercycle Thanks fella!

Hi, I do have a private shop in California but I only do Mustangs. That keeps me busy enough these days.

Do you post on any of the ev swap forums by chance?
I go to DIYelectriccarforum but I don't post much.

I think for my purposes I’d pick long distance on a big motor
Then your talking about 16 Tesla modules or a full model3 pack.
