It was actually rented out to other industry acts for a few years. Prince got tired of not having the place all to himself though, so he stopped allowing it to be open for outside business.
It is a shame. He got tired of "sharing" his studios so he stopped letting it be rented out. After his passing it's been turned into a museum, a la Graceland.

I am still not sure why this studio is not still being utilized. It looks amazing!
