Tampa has lovely oaks. All the old citrus is gone. We can’t go fruit hunting like you can. Take us fruit hunting next season.

...and they are leveling the vintage oaks as fast as they can...ordinances and fines be damned, they do it anyway, or they get a permit to trim and plow up the lit, pour the concrete foundation and oops!...oh dang, they trimmedmore than 30% which is dangerous so, the rest of the 399yr old oak has to come down (in two years on my Heughtsbl8cj, 8 cottages have been sold, bulldozed, new mcboxes built, paved double-driveway in front, paved drive in back on alley, and teensy pool crammed in beside it. So far 20 live oaks destroyed/removed--one block, 2 years in Tampa. No news crew was ever interested, they are b&b rentals now.

Paul this was great. I would have moved to your town 2 years ago if I’d seen this video first ❤️

I lived there when I was 12. We use to stop on the side of the roads and pick mangos.

I moved to Bellevue Florida from Idaho. I really love Florida, but I wished I could have gone further south . Us climate just changed my zone to 9b. Plants are my life and hobby. 😊

This is a great video Paul. I really like these tours. I love going to West Palm to visit family and looking at all of the amazing mango trees.

When I moved here to Port Charlotte from Colorado two years a neighbor gave me a small sucker growth from his purple mango tree. This gives me a perspective how big a mango can get. That sucker growth sprout I planted is already ten feet tall.

      Hi, Mr. Lavelle.
I'm looking at property in Port Charlotte and when I looked at the soil report for the lot it was really interesting. I already left a comment with details but it got deleted so I'll try to be general. From my understanding of the soil content I wouldn't have imagined that mangoes would grow very well. Can you offer any insight?
      Curious,
      Nicole

I LOVED this. Looking forward to more.
I'm looking for a fruit tree friendly property, and I recently was checking out Port Charlotte. When looking at the aerial views, all the lots with homes are cleared, but the vacant lots are filled with trees from end to end. I was confused as to why everyone would want to get rid of all of their trees until I read the soil report for a lot that I had inquired about. The report recommends that the property be cleared 10 ft from the home! So that is why. The lots are so small though so that's a huge portion of land that is supposed to be cleared. Property is so expensive in South florida otherwise I would buy several lots together. We're really being set up to not live sustainable lives.

Awesome video, it would be cool if each town had a fruit passionate guy like yourself discuss their place.

That is sort of a nice looking neighborhood, are the homes there very expensive? Thanks Paul
