ABS faults don't disappear until you drive the car at more than 15-20 mph, car doesn't get input from the sensor when standing still :) At least on what I've seen so far.

Just in case you didn't know, make sure to loosen torque wrenches back past zero before you put them away. Otherwise spring inside can get effected over time and will give false torques from than on.

    • @djhatstand7312

Another tip is never use a torque wrench to undo fasteners, you’ll ruin it, only ever tighten with it. I’ve seen a lot of vids on RUclips with people using a torque wrench like a breaker bar

Sarah, you can clear the codes from the computer by removing the positive cable and touching it to the black ground cable. Battery disconnected of course.
By doing this you drain the capacitors that hold the memory values in the computer. Keep at it Girl. You're making progress!

Hi Sarah you don't need the resistor you mentioned for the brakes all you need to do is join the 2 wires together by piece of wire or if its never needed again then cut the plug off and join them that way as the the abs if you don't have the ability to reset the computer then take the car up over 10 to 20 mph and then it should rest its self if not stand on the brakes what ever wheels lock could be where the problem is
Ps you have a amazing channel and love watching it

OMG I had that problem you did with the ABS sensor with a crankshaft position sensor on my Subaru before. Mine had a metal sensor tip though. I had to stick a needle nose in and pull out all the wire winding, then use a chisel to cut the canister down the side, then literally peel it out of the hole. What a pain!

Sarah, attach a length of 2x12 oak (however long you need it but extend past the studs) to the garage walls/studs with heavy hinges. Cut a 12"x2" piece of oak from corner to opposite corner to make 45deg angles. Attach those to the studs with 2 heavy hinges per 45. You can get fancy and cut a notch in the drop down board for the vice to keep the 45s in place. I bolt my vice to the board as I need it and store it in a cabinet when not used. It's fast with an impact and wrench. Viola! instant fold up bench. I've had upwards of 180 pounds on mine and it's solid. (I used it to stand on a couple times. If OSHA is reading this then it never happened. LOL! )

Sarah, If you know someone with VAG-COM (VCDS) you can code out the brake pad wear sensor. Very easy, takes about 30 seconds. You don't need the resistor if you code it out. Nice work!

Have had a CEL on my 1.8t for 6 years lol. It's listed as the front O2 sensor, however the sensor still works fine so I haven't forked over the money to replace it. Even after I did a new cat/downpipe mod. I can clear it, or it goes away after unplugging the battery for a little while. Covered it with a piece of tape and I'm set :D

I've had similar abs sensor issues with a Ford escape, and had the retaining bolt break on a ram 3500, and another vehicle that's slipping my mind that totally melted from a wheel bearing going, or something. They're surprisingly problematic when salted roads are thrown into the mix.

Hey Sarah. This happens to all abs sensors placed in the fusee. After about 10 years they are stuck by corrosion. In some German cars the abs light will reset when driving the car for a couple of hundred meters(1/8 mile), when the abs sensors were the actually problem. If not, I think you have a bad abs module. So take it for a small drive. Maybe the TT will reset itself while getting signals from the new sensors. If not you have to reset the codes by obd indeed. Dutch regards.

I'm inspired by your "clean as you go" approach. Probably mentioned it before but each video I notice the cleanliness of your projects. What is your plan for the TT? I've seen the videos but I don't remember a plan. You were a little lucky with the sensors when you removed the discs. I'm second owner on my A4 and replaced the pads for the first time but both of the counter-sunk screws that hold the discs in place were broken off and required drilling out.

To delete the brake pad wear sensor just Join the two wires coming from the car, you dont need a resister as its just a logic path if pad sensor touches the disk it wears off the tip of the sensor and opens the circuit by just joining the wires and heat shrink them to water proof it you will be good - I have it done on my BMW and on my Wifes VW Passat
