- For Adam's first incognito costume of the year, he teams up with propmaker Darrell Maloney (aka Broken Nerd) to become two of the Knights of Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Without much reference material, Adam and Darrell relish the opportunity to bring these mysterious characters to life in cosplay.

Thanks for watching!
imagine how many random cosplayers get asked if they are adam savage at comic con
Cool Prank: Walk around in an intricate costume and have a couple guys follow you around with big cameras and see how many people think you're Adam Savage.
It could really only be people that are like.. 501st level costumes.. and being followed by cameras.
"the full coverage of this build, both costumes, it's gonna go on tested very, very soon"
[one year later] "Adam Savage's Knights of Ren Cosplay, Part 1" :P
Hahaha yup.
and it was on tested.com on the JUNE 28, 2018, part 2 and 3 are also there..........maybe you are the slow one
Yeah I was Confused
NAILED IT
@@sk0nz yet it wasn't mentioned in the RUclips videos & not everybody follows Tested soooooooo maybe you're just coming off as an asshole. 👍🏽
I feel like the easiest way to figure out what Adam's costume is is to look for the elaborate person who has someone constantly filming B-roll of them walking around.
Yeah and look out for Norm hovering around somewhere.
I found Adam when he was dressed as Kylo Ren at SDCC a couple years ago. There were three reasons I figured it was Adam: 1. Tested posted a video of Adam making Kylo's gorget a couple weeks before the con. 2. I bumped into Norm Chan about twenty seconds before I saw Kylo. 3. Kylo had taken a picture with a woman and little girl and when he said "you're welcome," I thought "That sounds a lot like Adam Savage," so I went up to him and asked. And he was.
I never saw the camera.
The way I hear is they use hidden cameras. I am not confirming or denying.
I will say he is one of the coolest people I've met at a con.
Wow that's remarkable. The image quality is awesome for anything that would count as a hidden camera. Then again at a con there may be loads of opportunities to hide a real camera. Maybe the camera guy also wears a costume with the camera hidden in one of those oversized weapons or something.
You're not allowed to film using hidden cameras.
Im the Medic Mandalorian at 6:30!
Corpsman.Rhodes awesome!
you're a Medalorian!
Corpsman.Rhodes nice cosplay
@@Sharklops
Lol, nice
That cosplay looks epic
Shame you can't use those clips to hold the contact lenses :)
Wish I could have been there, but I had a good reason for being elsewhere.
SCOTT WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE :D
I was literally watching one of your vids right before this one, lol
Haha i was watching the catching the second stage with the booster vid.
He's here!! WOOT
IE, busy doing shenanigans in KSP
These and the one day build videos are the best thing on this channel...love it!
11:40 Man, as someone who watched the original build of this with Will all those years ago, it was a treat to see the multi-tool holster again. : )
"Adam Savage AND DARRELL Incognito as the Knights of Ren!"
They did our man dirty.
You need to do a Selfie Latex Mask and Go as Adam Savage and see who picks you out then.
It'd be cool to have like 10 of these walking around in a group and you have to pick the real savage out of them all.
Just bring a engineering square that's off centre, his ocd will draw him out
7:26 Force pushed the girl in red out of the shot :D
This is so wholesome. I really like having Darrell around with Adam in the building videos because they really (seem to) vibe off each other and the energy of that series of videos is great.
I misread it as knights of ni. Because that would be great too.
"Why are you ni-ing that poor old women?"
NI!
We are no longer the k ights who say. NI! We shall now be known as the knights who say. Bfj dbdbd he
@@groans4u419 what is lool
nice to know the master of cosplay also forgets stupid things as well. He's human after all.
malkavian5
Much in common after all.
So damn awesome! So happy you guys were able to collab with Darrell such an awesome guy and so much "Raw, untamed power and beyond that, something truly special"
i love watching a friendly conversation between dark assasin type sith characters
This was by far one of the most enjoyable makes! Darrell is insanely talented and fit right in with Adam. Please work together again. It was a pleasure to watch and I learned a lot.
My son loves to watch these with me , half way through he said “ Adam should make a duck Vader costume for a comic con “ I laughed but the idea hasn’t stopped working around in my head , done with Adams skill Duck Vader could be very cool ...
Duck Vader! That would be awesome!
Awesome! Do all the Knights of Ren wear rainbow striped socks? :)
Make Brooklyn I was wondering the exact same thing!!😁😀
Yes. It’s standard issue
Make Brooklyn the higher tanks don't use ROYGBV They use VBGYOR
They gonna keep some level of positivity
Each Knight of Ren has different socks. The Rogue has rainbow, The Monk has plain white, The Sniper has pink, The Armory has steak socks, The Heavy wears no socks, and Kylo Ren wears some Emo sock.
Here's hoping at least the Knights of Ren can expanded on in the next movie. But probably not.
TheDarkSkyKingdom the next one though not yet confirmed is a jarjar story.
Kylo might get the gang back together to help him hunt down Rey. It's not like there are any Praetorian Guards left to cover his back.
The absence of the Knights of Ren in TLJ was ridiculous, I mean not even small mention never mind an on screen appearance. One my of biggest gripes with TLJ.
Chris James they were originally planned to be the guards but johnson did not want to waste them
probably yes. JJ created them and said he'd even love to write a whole separate movie about their story
This is the first time I've liked someone else's cosplay better than Adam's. Granted they are both amazing but the monk looks soooo menacing and well... Just rad!
i think its the large car liner they used on Adams that brings me out of it
He really does, this should have been the actual design for that particular character in the movies.
Man, these costumes look so cool, it's a shame how underused the Knights of Ren were, they're like the most interesting thing about the new trilogy.
I think we will see them in episode 9. Kylo will get the band back together to hunt down Rey.
Hopefully we'll get something like that. Rian Johnson made a bad decision by never acknowledging them.
Underused? That makes it sound like they actually WERE used at all, instead of shown in a flashback for five seconds.
That's a good point.
Underused? They're not used AT ALL, they better be in the next movie, and have atleast some badass fight scenes, because they look so fucking cool!!
One of my favorite things with Adam, and Tested in general, is when they bring someone I've never seen before on, and I very quickly decide I want to see more of them. Darrell Maloney, I want to see more of your stuff!
I would be the guy walking around Comicon specifically looking for Adam.
Heh its surprising you didn't run into a kylo ren
we were looking for one!
imagine running into Adam Savage as Kylo Ren and distorting the time space continuum
GearAlpha He wasn’t cosplaying as Kylo though. He was cosplaying one of the six knights of ren
@@Kxnnyyyyy he also went as Kylo ren
best one yet!!! I think that Adam Savage has be come one of our (pop culture or just culture) top maker, innovator & teacher! loved the vid!
I loved that Lego Sabine and Obi-Wan.
If Norm is following you around then yes people will know it's you Adam. :)
For us poor cosplayers, the plastic clippy hangers you get when you buy pants at the store work just as well. Just remember to keep a piece of cloth as a barrier, so the clamps don't rip any fabric or crack any leather. I learned that from experience!
Adam always does exactly my kind of thing... I love the Knights of Ren!
It's that feeling of being someone else for a little while, a character that is perhaps a lot different from you, more heroic, more evil, more insane....and everyone treats you as that person. When you change back to being yourself, for me, there's a sense of longing to be 'special' again, to be that character, despite the uncomfortableness, heat and tiredness that comes from cosplaying :D
Buckethead Props that’s exactly it!
And thus furries were born.
CoolioJoe100 that's the beauty of it I guess 😅 to each their own
I just love the reaction I get from kids etc, be it fear or excitement, when they see me in my Sith costume.
Like you said, all the discomfort pales in comparison to that :)
Great work guys, The Broken Nerd showcasing some amazing skills, Adam's ability to transform seamlessly into any character is chameleon like ! Enjoyed this very much ! - - - Happy Extruding !
Darrell seemed like such a huge fan the whole time, it made me smile so much, but which of these incognito videos don't :)
The shiny R2-D2s are from Episode 1, after the cleaning by Queen Padme. ;-)
Darrell's mask looks amazing, can't wait to see the build videos!
“And I’ve got a second balaclava just in case”, while his contact lenses are sitting lonely at home on his night stand.
What an amazing opportunity and beautiful work as usual.
Adam is a God. Nerds who got hated on like me in school REJOICE. Made it cool and this collaboration was stellar.
REJOICE! YOU ARE..PUUURRE. REJOICE!
Darrell's helmet is badass. It has an Isaac Clarke-ish style.
"Discomfort is a key component of Cosplay"....Absolutely. We learn to love the PAIN...
I'm welling up watching 2 grown nerds enjoying themselves so much!! Can't wait for the make videos!! Thank you Adam and Darrell!!
Great costumes, great work, great knights, love them, keep up the good work!
I just cannot decide which one I like better! Both are just awesome. Keep up the good work!
"the full coverage of this build, both costumes, it's gonna go on tested very, very soon"
[one year later]
agust 2019 the last episode is of this project is finaly out.
Premium members on the tested site got it 9months ago ;)
Love it. You are the best Adam. With Norman running around... how do ppl not guess it's you right away?
i am so glad to see the Broken Nerd rocketing to 'success' with stuff like this, he is so talented and such a great guy its just..great.
I love what Adam said at the end about a costume fulfilling its destiny when worn. i have a similar feeling about it. I love seeing the person, usually my son, put on the costume and become the character. It is absolute magic!
Im glad i waited to watch the build before this vid. Amazing work guys!!!
love adams costume really cool helmet!
cant wait for the making of
It's really hard to actually describe what its like to cosplay. I went to my first convention in May this year in Chicago. Anime Central. It was also my first cosplay as well. I was wearing a partial hand made by me and some ordered parts, attack on titan cosplay. As you said when you take everything off its like a breath of fresh air, cause one cannot describe the nightmare of putting on what feels like a set of bondage straps that are meant to fit skin tight and walk around for a few hours and the constant readjusting and bending in that certain way where everything happens to loosen up just enough to be somewhat comfortable. But in all honesty the very first time i was asked to take a picture was what made everything worth it. I'm sure i looked goofy in it, but that moment ill never forget.
Ill be going to more from here on.
That storm trooper was connecting the dots real quick. Ok, that's Norm furiously taking pictures of...gotta be Adam the Savage.
Adam so awesome for you to have Darryl on, he is one hell of a designer in the 3d printing community. Glad he finally got to get with you and do a special project.
Adam I always love your incognito comic cons
Nice work yet again
Fantastic video Adam! I always am happy to see one of these come up in my feed
Nicely done, going to your 1st con is an experience in itself. Not knowing what to expect, that unknown/uncertain feeling. When its all over you really understand why people of the cosplay community do it and that its a form of art that can be appreciated. 1st con I ever went to was SW Celebration and it was mind blowing.
I loved the background music!
Suits look amazing, shame the characters ended up being such a letdown in the movies
My first cosplay experience was in 1981. I borrowed (without permission) the slush puppy costume that my father had for his seven eleven store. I put it on and went for a walk to our local mall. I was 14 years old and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. People in cars honked their horns and waived... It was great.
aw man, i made some mistakes with the grid on my helmet. Time to make a new one!
William Jakespeare haha can’t wait!!
William Jakespeare ALL HAIL DARTH WAFFLE IRON
Looking forward to seeing it.
Huh. Tok me a bit to notice What you’re talking about
#DarthWaffleIron
Watching the build series now and at the end see the link to... *Alright, who was messing with the time stone again?!*
Adam is a god damn national treasure. Every time I see him work on or dress in cosplay it just makes me grin ear to ear and inspires me to go work on my own cosplays.
I hope you can bring Darrell into the Tested Family. It would be great to see him more.
Hey guys thank you so much for doing what you do! Adam you are an inspiration to me! I look forward to seeing more!
I always love seeing the costumes you make... They're so realistic and detailed :)
Congratulations guys, that was an awesome project that you really pulled off, totally amazing!
Loved all the videos. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Makes me happy to see your multitool holster that you made in an early 1-day build still in use :)
Why is the time stamp 2018 but I just watched the video of them making it 2 days ago
Loved the costumes and it was fun playing spot the critter in the con footage, I believe I even spotted a Nott the Brave
this is so cool!
it's always amazing to see what you cosplay as!
it's also really cool that you dressed up in a costume that probably was not ever recreated off screen!
it's also cool that i'm watching this today as my first comic con of the year (and my second one ever) starts tomorrow
i'm dressing up as Excalibur batman from the Lego batman movie / Lego dimensions
i picked it because it's one of my favorite batman suits other then the standard suit
and i also think no one has done it before
i really enjoyed making it :D
and i really enjoyed watching you walk the floor as the knights of ren!
and i look forward to seeing what you dress up as for the other comic cons this year!
Cosplay Forever! :D
ok you know adam is a good guy when the first thing he thinks of after realizing he forgot his contacts is that its ok because the main thing is it doesnt ruin his friends expirience.
Awesome costume, this gives me a couple ideas. I wanted to make my own sci-fi inspired helmet for some time, I can't wait to see how yours was made. I kind of want to go a step further and actually make it a proper sci-fi helmet having a HUD screen and communication system (I have a few ideas how to make that work) as well as make it protective (maybe find a way to make it out of hardhat material or refit a motorcycling helmet). Should be a fun project, but your helmet was the inspiration for the kind of style I probably will make it.
So nice to see 100% joy! More collabs with you guys please!
I really hope there will be a later video of them comparing some more source material, just to see some differences! those where awesome looking though!
That monk looks badass! I may have gone for darker shades for the rogue but I loved watching how Adam went through troubleshooting the stupid belt.
loved these part clips and the final vid. awesome you brought a fellow youtuber with u, that was a nice touch. and epic builds as always
Man, I would love to craft a cosplay with Adam and walk the floor with him. What an awesome experience to have! Great costumes as always!
The grace in which Adam handles something going wrong with a cosplay is inspiring. And I love that he, like me as Kylo, could not help but be friendly to children
It's even better watching it after watching them make the costumes
I wish I had the chance to do a build with Adam... Building a suit and learning from the master would be a dream come true..
I can't wait for the build vids on this.
Amazing Job! I also like fact you improvised.
I also really like Vader cosplay 7:32. It looks amazing!!! Sad that making cosplay takes so much experience and it costs a lot
It's starts with throwing together a shitty costume with improvised materials and slowly increasing your skill set with each build.
It doesn't have to cost a lot if you're clever: ruclips.net/video/bKrpiCqZq_8/видео.html
Hey Adam! My name is Warner Hodgins and I have been with you since 2005 and I can quote almost any episode of mythbusters and I even remembered you were a judge from battle botsand(and I remember the time I cried watching the final episode of mythbusters) I just want to say I am inspired to do greater things in life. Thank you so much 😊 😢😥😭😌
damn this looks amazing, well done on these costumes
Hey Adam and Daryl you guys killed it with these costumes! If you are building any more obscure Star wars characters I recommend checking the comics! I believe there might have been more knights of ren stuff in there that could have helped you too, but perfect job I want to come to your shop so bad LOL
I love the way Adam says "shite", you have this Irishmans approval
approval from this Scot too :)
how sick would it be if you had all of the Knights of Ren walking as a group
Those little hangers with clips are called BOOT CLIPS and are used in the Retail Industry not only for gloves, but also for backpacks, hats, lunch bags & other items
Fabulous result!! Great looking costumes! Have to say I'm a little surprised that Adam hasn't made a little pouch on the side of his multitool holder to keep a spare pair a frickin contact lenses in!! 😂🤣
Absolutely amazing cosplays. Extremely cool
This was a fantastic little series :) You both did an awesome job
Are you Adam? ~Tears~ Also Darrels Helmet is awesome.
Alright! The Broken Nerd! I love this guy! Super stoked to see him getting more recognition for his awesome work!
It would be so cool if he got all of his friends dressing as rogue, hunter, monk, armory, sniper, and heavy. If I miss one includ that one to the list.
At 5:50 Adam is quite clearly shown using the force ... were on to you !
Adam Savage: doesn’t feel dressed without his multi-tool, almost forgets to do up pants.
So Awesome guys. Be proud and may the force be with you always.
Darkside users always have awesome looking armor/clothing that is uncomfortable so that their mere presence is intimidating and they are extra cranky because they are super uncomfortable in them. Darth Sidious would be the exception to this, but i always got the impression that he was basically wearing the Sith version of a bathrobe everywhere, daring some one to mention it.
KnightsWithoutATable Darth Maul's outfit seems very comfortable
The half of it that he can still wear probably is. All the legroom you would ever want.
solution to Adam's belt problem with the Rogue costume - coat tails (tuxedo type, long slit up the back goes above the waist line.)
cannot wait for the build videos
Adam I completely understand the phase that you are not complete without you multitool for me it's my Leatherman Wave and bit set and my Leatherman Raptor tool.
