When my hair gets this long I will no longer put braid extensions in my hair. Short hair looks so weird when you plait it. When it's long it looks so much nice. I love to see big plaits and twist in long ppls hair
You're one of the people who inspired me to go on a mini braid journey and just generally keep protective styles for long. I can now keep my styles in 3 months no problem 😁 minimum 2 months. And my hair is flourishing, almost at armpit length! Put in my current set of mini braids on the 14th of June, taking them out on the 4th of October, 6 days before my birthday 🙈😊
Thank you... I've had brittle nails for the longest time. However over the past few months they've been doing so well. I can't really pin point what I've been doing that helped 😅
Great video! I appreciate you showing your shedded hair! I asked in the last video and u came through! Your shedding looks like mine after a month or so of protective hairstyle. So i think its normal
I literally searched for a video of 4c hair because I just took my braids out after three months and I was having a meltdown. Our length and hair type is similar so this is reassuring. I was convinced I was starting to bald 😂😂 so thank you for sharing.
The secret to preventing knots is you detangle each portion of hair that you have unbraided right away. Secondly from my experience when I take down a protective hairstyle that I've had for a long time I never wash my hair with shampoo the first wash. I always first pre-poo with lots of oil then do a co-wash then properly detangle my hair with the conditioner in my hair. After co-washing I then wash my hair with shampoo and deep conditioner a day or so later, so that I don't have too many steps for one wash day
I am one month down in small natural box braids. So far so good, some new growth and looking forward to the take down first week of April. Great video, are you going to braid up your hair for another 3 months?
Beautiful hair Pearl, I have just subscribed and liked your video. Just wondering how many braids? I am doing this next week, my hair a bit shorter though.
. SHED hair is good, breakage is bad. Shed hair is long pieces and usually has the white hair bulb attached. Breakage are short pieces here and there. Your hair hasn’t been able to shed for 3 months for me I get almost that much just from a single wash day once a month! I’m a natural stylist though and this is a good amount of shedding it’s not overly excessive shed hair you’re lucky lol. Your hair sheds at least 100 strands per day, in three months that’s 9 thousand strands of hair that wants to fall out lol .
(5:25 - my reference) I wish you could do a video on how to braid hair neatly. Do you wear your hair out like this for the entire time your braids are in?
I think you should do bigger braids because small braids require more manipulation during the take down process. - I also recommend a protein /moisture treatment regimen to follow throughout the month. Shedding was one of my main problems. I even had those weird tangled knots at the end of a hair stand but I have less shedding now.
It's definitely not a lot of shed hair for 3 mths. I keep my braids in for about 4-5 wks but wear them under wigs. Since, I don't corn row very well. Lol. Anyway, gurrrl. Your hair is so thick and long. Your hair is gorgeous. 😍
I don't know you guys do it but I can never do braids with my natural hair and leave it for more than 2weeks without extensions. Tried it in the past and I ended up with frizzled and fuzzy hair with lots of breakage. I use extensions for all my long-term ps braids. It is easier for me and I can control the breakage. I love your hair though😊
Next time babe do length check before installation and removal...pleaseeee sugar on top 💋oh and should I do this after my hair is dried ?... because I’m seeing knots in mine tryna undo them.
I'm currently wearing mini braids smaller than yours and the most I've been able to last is 2 weeks before I get a lot of flyaway, frizzy hairs sticking out.. i have about 3c hair. advice on keeping this tamed?
Frizzy hair and fly aways come with the hairstyle 😅 I don"t mind it much but when I feel its getting a bit out of hand, I find that moisturizing then wearing a silk / satin scarf for at least 5-10 minutes tames the hair a bit.
Ok i know this isn't for you considering you have long hair but for anyone wanting to grow long hair have you tried african threading it really helps to grow hair but style it by doing benny and betty that's how I have grown my hair you can search it on RUclips
Hey Pearl, great video, quick question - do you always keep the same sections or do you change it up after some time? also if have you found your hair thinning in places where you keep the same sections? I ask this because I have recently gone on the LT protective styling, redoing my twists in sections (like you do your braids) and the recurring question on all the videos I have watched is around thinning around the parts - I am getting a little paranoid.
I try not to keep the same parts for that reason. So I will redo my braids once or twice with the same parts then switch it up after that. Also it helps to not apply too much tension to reduce chances of thinning. Also going for long periods of time with one style, reduces manipulation, tension or pulling which all contribute to thinning.
Your hair is getting so long. When I put my hair in plaits, my scalp gets inflamed and I start losing a lot of hair if I keep re braiding without giving my scalp a break.
Thanks... Since you've noticed that your hair doesn't like braids that often, It's always best to do what's best for your hair no matter what other people are doing.
I don't understand how that relates to the braids. Do you sleep with a scarf and or bonnet? Also, try not to use too much hair products and you can wash your hair in braids if you need to.
I also do mini-braids,this time I have them smaller and its three months now too,can I keep them for 6 months straight??? Won't I have any issues with it?never kept them for this long before. What do you think??
I need to discipline myself to keep my protective styles longer. Coz protective styles really help me retain length
It help me to get more length
Same here. I've tried and tried and tried but I just can't and I've accepted the fact that that's how I am😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Same 😫😫 soon as my styles hit 2/3 weeks , I get tired of them sigh
I used to get tired of them in like 2 weeks.. but now I'm just lazy 😂😂😂 keep them for a few months.
I'm currently with one in for 3 almost 4 weeks

It's only been a week for me in mini braids, and I'm not sure I can last three months though 😬.
I'll try...
try one month and see
Mine is barely a day n I'm scared, but I will push it to a month
yeah try one month you'll still get substantial growth
Lol you sound like me
Me too 😒😤

Samee😅
Right
You have inspired me to do braids on my hair for an extended period of time. I usually do it on my kids but u will try them on myself. Tfs💞
I'm so glad 😃 Let me know how it goes.

That is awesome! 😀
How do you wear your hair out? Do you wear wigs constantly or just wear your braids out like that?
. How long has your hair gotten now from doing that? .
Love it! Just rewashed and re-twisted my hair!! Best protective style ever. Definitely my go to.
Hi Pearl. Considering that you have long hair, I also don’t think the amount of hair you lost was a lot for three long months.
Thanks
O my goodness your nails are soooooooo beautifully healthy looking I wish I could pay my nails to look half as nice as yours!
Thank you... I've had brittle nails for the longest time. However over the past few months they've been doing so well. I can't really pin point what I've been doing that helped 😅
I can't believe how much your hair has grown Pearly.
I'm taking out my 2 month plus braids while watching this🤙
I am lazy so this works for me, I am keeping mine braids in for 3 months. I keep it in a high bun and keep it moisturize.
That is a nice and simple routine.👌🏾😊

Glad I could help!
Thank you for sharing. Try onion+garlic juice Treatment for the shedding. It really helps... Once a week or so.
Thanks
Had a similar hairstyle with my hair no extensions. Lost so much hair and had ridiculous knots don’t think I’ll do it again 😭😭😭😭

Forever Blessed thanks for the tip ! I’ll do this x
Forever Blessed SAME!!!
Yes the longer the braid the more it tangles and sheds
I’m watching your video as I put mini braids in my hair ☺️👍
That's good to hear 😊
Always love your channel over the years
Glad to hear it! 😊
Wow!! I'm studying if i can go this long
That's not a lot as our hair shed 100 strands a day. Ima try this protective style. Thank u 4 the update. Ur hair definitely grew
Thanks 😊
I am one month down in small natural box braids. So far so good, some new growth and looking forward to the take down first week of April. Great video, are you going to braid up your hair for another 3 months?
My hair is on the very fine side. I started the 3 month regimen 7 months ago. So far so good
That's great. keep it up.
The way I relate to the fall out🙄, took down my 1 month cornrows
Hi! Looks great, do you just leave the braids in for washing? Then just redo dried braids as shown here?
Yes I do but I don't redo after every wash. I redo once every month or every 2 -3 months
Beautiful hair Pearl, I have just subscribed and liked your video. Just wondering how many braids? I am doing this next week, my hair a bit shorter though.
Thanks. I think they were between 30 - 40 braids
I JUST SUBSCRIBED I LOVE YOUR HAIR

The hair can be dry or slightly damp but should be moisturized.

It was whole three months, so it's ok. Are you from South Africa Johannesburg?
Ok i know this isn't for you considering you have long hair but for anyone wanting to grow long hair have you tried african threading it really helps to grow hair but style it by doing benny and betty that's how I have grown my hair you can search it on RUclips
Hey ,,,nice video,,,,,i think you can reduce hair loss by putting the braids for less time,,,maybe 2 month,,,,try then tell us how it goes.
My hair locks up after 2 month. I can't keep my protective styles that long.
one month is fine too
How many inches is this your hair.. Its so beautiful
I'm not sure. Thanks

@@JustPearl Thank you
Do u wash ur hair while it's braided?
yes i do
You need to use some rice water to stop the shedding try it
I use it on and off
How do you take care of your hair during the 3 months ? its beautiful
you can check out my previous videos to find out what I've been doing to my hair..... Thanks
This is how mine is looking now. My mini braids is 4 months old
Wow, 4 months is a long time.
How are they soooo near after 3 months. I washed mine once and it’s frizz city 😭
It gets freezy too. How you make the braids also plays a role. The braids shouldn't be too loose. Also tying a scarf helps lay it down.
Your hair is getting so long. When I put my hair in plaits, my scalp gets inflamed and I start losing a lot of hair if I keep re braiding without giving my scalp a break.

Two weeks in and I have pimples😭😭
I don't understand how that relates to the braids. Do you sleep with a scarf and or bonnet? Also, try not to use too much hair products and you can wash your hair in braids if you need to.
Usually that happens when the braids are too tight
I love you so much❤❤❤😘
I also do mini-braids,this time I have them smaller and its three months now too,can I keep them for 6 months straight??? Won't I have any issues with it?never kept them for this long before.
What do you think??
I can't really tell you if that's a good idea. The longest I have gone is 3 months.
Wow Pearl you loose so much hair
yeah, i'm trying to work on that
@@JustPearl ok dear good luck hun 🙅❤️
@@JustPearl I don't think it's too much hair that you lost considering that its 3months worth of shed hair
Thanks
Yes that's not a lot at all. By the way how many braids to you have? Love your hair, thank you for sharing.
Woow
I lose that amount in a week 😂😢😅
What!? 🤯
You must have a lot of hair.
@@JustPearl Must do people tell me that a lot.
Last 2 years I tried one month with my twists..it was a fail...total fail🤣🤣💙 I don't know how you managed 3 months definitely I did something wrong
i can go for longer periods with braids than twists
@@JustPearl I agree. Braids last longer than twists. With twists the hair starts to even loc
its a shame we all had to learn this the hard way ! 😭
