    Lewitt are killing it. I love the airy sound without sacrificing lows and mids, and Lewitt's dedication to innovating rather than attempting to recreate vintage sounds. They're one of the few companies out there who have me excited to see what they come up with next.

    • @HiFiASMR
      @HiFiASMR Год назад +1

      Glorious 19dBa self noise. Also, their highest end microphone the 1040 is tuned after the vintage u47 that came out in 1947. 87 and 47 tuning is optimum for vocals and spoken word. So ya... Vintage sound is actually how it's supposed to be believe it or not. So either they copy those or they have a funky train wreck which most of their mics are.

    My wife just bought this for me for Christmas after listening to me gush about it while watching your video or blind mic test showdown - you did in which it beat out the Shure SM7B in the first round, and just kept going, beating out every mic after that the entire stream. I ABSOLUTELY love this mic. The closest thing to perfection in my mic arsenal. I just have to get the shock mount because it picks up every noise on my desk. I also had to redesign my desk layout to position the boom arm where I needed it. I think this is a perfect option for people looking to do podcasts where they just sit at a table or a couch, and talk, leave it on a stand and let them go!!! Best of the best.

    • @tombuck

    About your boom arm issue, I actually have a cheap brandless desk clamp boom arm with me that swivels but the sturdiness of it might be a little questionable though it has never been a worry on my end.

    The biggest problem (and why i wont recommend it to most streamers etc): It is condenser mic. Most streamers, RUclipsrs who are not at the point of having the money for a proper treated studio without background noise will be much happier with any dynamic mic.
    If you are in a proper designed studio, i say go for a condenser, and if in doubt a dynamic.

    Hey my brother, I have to absolutely agree that the Lewitt 240 pro condenser microphone, and that ice white not only looks absolutely stunning and stands out against a lot of other condenser microphones because of its design for the price point. It sounds absolutely fantastic especially when you know how to work a microphone just plug in play it is absolutely crisp and bright but once you start dialing in some EQ on your mixer, it absolutely makes this microphone go from a middleweight contender out of the box to a heavyweight contender with a nice mix on it

I ended up selling it because I found my specific copy was susceptible to interference from a wireless router that I have attached to my desk. Good practical realworld review and overview, comparison video, and testimonial of the lewitt. 👍👍
    Just listened to the surprise shoutout microphone comparison you did and your blue sonas, earthworks ethos, and the lewitt were the top three. Then decided to do my own comparison between the lewitt and my favourite microphones, but did so by recording the same passage with each mic spoken the same way and then playing them back, and it is definitely in my top 5, if not top 3.
    Also, I just rented the Lewitt and am currently trying out and testing using this microphone to add to the rest of the microphones available and being used to record a modern radio-play, so it's being put through its paces.
    So far, having tested and used it before listening to your videos, it seems that I have come up with similar conclusions to you.
    This MDC or medium diaphragm condenser microphone sounds fantastic. Period. In my opinion, it kind of combines the best of both SDC and LDC, condenser microphone worlds. Upon listening to it, it seems to be pretty balanced in terms of a sound profile in that it is neither bottom or top end forward, but mid range forward, so it is very useful on all ranges of voices. Also, the clarity, detail, and overall pick up is amazing, plus, it sounds so smooth, clean, not particularly sibilant (though that can depend on the voice of course too), and is just so pleasant to listen to, giving it an absoLewittly lovable listening longevity. Go Lewitt Go!
    Hopefully you will be able to find a way to use your lewitt more, but regardless, thanks again for your video on this, and also your puns are quite enjoyable.
    Congratulations on your continued social media success.
    Go Tom Buck Go!
    Stay safe and stay awesome.

    Solution, use the shock mount designed for the Shure SM57. The tang for the XLR port should fit right in that and it'd look much cleaner. For the shock mount, maybe have someone 3D print a piece that could slip over top of the mic and secure on with some elastic, have some magnets built into it for the mount? Wouldn't be too hard. But yeah, I bet an A55M would fix the shock mount issue at least.

    For the part where you mention not being able to turn/swivel the mic you should look at the Triad-Orbit M2-R adapter it allows any mic to be positioned in any way you like as it's basically just a ball head adapter for mics so you're not constrained to just using the mic in one orientation :). Hope that helps.

      Yes! I have this with my Earthworks mics. It does work somewhat well, except that if the Lewitt is angled back a bit too far, then the mount tips and starts to unscrew. It's not a huge issue, but on the off chance that it happens while recording something important, it would be a bummer 😁

    I want to get some gear starting with audio, a mic, a boom arm, maybe a mic stand, etc. Down the road, I want the rest, Rodecaster II Pro, etc.
    It might sound trivial or silly. But, I really would love an all white mic or white and gold. I did find a white boom arm. Quality is more important.
    I need to stay frugal to get started. I have a Boya lav mic to try. I know I can start with my phone or video camera and add things when possible. So, I won't let anything stop me from just posting in the beginning.
    I'll review some more videos and rewatch some.
    I plan to do podcasts, zoom chats, and videos in my kitchen or other areas. So, the lav might be great in some situations.

    I HAVE A SOLUTION!!! (It isn't perfect but it works really well for me) If you position the mounting screw perfectly vertical you can spin the whole shock mount to face the direction you want it to face. The bad news is this means you lose a bit of reach on the boom arm, but it isn't much, and that lost reach isn't an issue on my setup. Hope this helps!

    Hey Tom, always enjoy your cool mic reviews! 🎙️ What do I gain by using one of those nifty mixers that I don’t get using my Zoom H6?
    I had been using a DJI lav mic for a few months as an upgrade from my Rode video mic, and I love both of those because they are so convenient and plug right into the camera for super easy sound recording at the same time as video.
    But, ngl, the sound is soooo much better when using the Zoom H6 as my voice recorder and syncing in Resolve.
    So, what is this mixer of which you speak, and how does it make like better?? 😂 🤔 thanks mucho amigo! 🦦🍩

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  Год назад +1

      The H6 is pretty sweet, so you might not actually gain a lot. I love my Rodecaster Pro II because it has a ton of additional features and the biggest benefit over the H6 is the amount of clean gain. Not super important for a condenser mic, but it can power any other mic without introducing any noise or hiss, which is great.
      Also, side note: I LOVE the Tenba Fulton 14L. It's been the perfect camera bag so far.

    Hi Tom - Have you tried the Triad-mount from the Earthworks mic to adjust the Lewitt mount in an L-shape? In my experience the Triad ball mount is so tight what it should easily be able to hold the mic and its shock mount in position.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  Год назад

      I have! It works alright, but it's not perfect. I think because the EW mics balance their weight more evenly, but with the Lewitt I've found that I sometimes angle the mic in such a way that it tips backwards and starts unscrewing itself.
