Young people don’t need to be persuaded to adopt passive building-they eat it up. But they need guidance and support. Educators carry both the privilege and the challenge of inspiring young designers and architects. Teaching material detailing must go hand-in-hand with teaching the changing realities of our ecosystems, communities, and constructed landscape. Advocacy is a role for all of us, and teaching effective advocacy roles and practices is an essential challenge as we watch these young designers emerge.
The Educator Hootenanny will revolve around this question: Why do we do what we do? We want to take every opportunity to expand the conversation - this Hootenanny is a chance to present creative successes, challenges, and the future of design education.
