    Nice video. This project looks to be expensive, considering the working conditions and the final finish. But, it's just money and if you have it, spend it!
    In tight areas needing drilling, I drilled at 30-45 degree angle in the side face and bent the (small) rods to perpendicular/right angles after installing them.

    I always use 30 or 20 mm XPS insulation plates against the walls. Two benefits. The concrete can expand and you can use it as a support for leveling. ;-) Just a tip.

    For cutting roots I recommend a cordless sawzall. I use a milwaukee and it’s perfect for that. Much less work and more accurate than an axe.

    Instead of embedding a wood post in concrete, staple roofing felt to the post. Then screw Hardie tile backer to it. Trim to level after the pour.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  6 лет назад

      The tile may want to consider that. The concrete is at the bottom of post.

    I have similar drains in an exterior walkway next to my house. The problem is that the grate holes are small and get clogged with tiny amounts of debris. Unfortunately, this has lead to some flooding of our basement apartment. Do you know if there is a solution to this issue?

    Your work looks great!!! I am doing a 16x28 patio right now. I'm in a similar situation as in your video. I am extending my patio. Should I pour around the existing slab like in this video? Or pour 4" over the whole thing? But in my case I would use crushed limestone to make it level with the existing 14x14 patio 3 1/2 in deep making total patio thickness 7 1/2" deep.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete

      Yes

    • @alexaklson1546
      @alexaklson1546 5 лет назад

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete thank you for your response. The company who came out to quote me said that using dowels would be a bad idea because I am in Canada and given our weather, the porch will move but the house barely moves and so the porch will crack along these dowels. Is this true?

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  5 лет назад

      If the porch is small and not connected to anything else, then the porch will move with the house.

    As an Architect I am curious, are you relying on the paint on the wood columns to be your barrier between wood and concrete? The concern here may be dry rot if water seeps past the tile and settles in and around the wood. Maybe you used some building felt and it did not show up in the video.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  6 лет назад +2

    It look like the drains are not slightly below grade even it they are adjustable cause concrete stops the drain from going below. Was this true? Your video shows above grade.

    1. How do you kNow how many bags to use per job?
    2. What's the mix recipe and method?
