So I’ll be 25 next month and in April I’m thinking of auditioning. The biggest cons for me are: dancing is pretty average but I can freestyle a little bit, I’m over the age of 25 and I’m African American. The pros that I can think of are: 14 years of vocal training (and I still do vocal training every day), started to learn how to rap and I’m pretty good at it, dancing has gotten a little better, despite being 24/25 I look extremely young for my age unless I dress more my age and I do best with cute concepts as I act comfortably act in a cute way. I am starting to do a BUNCH of vocal covers on my insta, will be doing more rap and dance as well, but my strongest rn is vocals. I am slowly learning Korean but it is hard as I have learning disabilities and I’m attempting to learn the language without a teacher and just using friends/apps to learn. I have researched 23 small to medium companies with 3 hip hop companies just in case. I plan on auditioning all year next year to the end of the year...but should I also extend it for 2022 as well? Or with my age (I’m also super skinny as I normally weigh between 35-47 kg/85-97 lbs, with a small dimple that shows on my right side of my face when I smile) should I just try for one year and then move onto my Plan B that I have lined up? I know a lot of people say I shouldn’t even bother in the first place and I do know the statistics BUT I am seeing more foreign idols in Kpop (Fatou in BlackSwan and the 2 in Prisma/Prism-forgot the name of the group at the moment) so I still want to try just in case, despite not being that good at Korean or at dancing. And I know I work on my rapping that I am self-learning I think I can get better by next April. I would start auditioning next month, but I still have a little over $4,000 in student debt and I do want to try to save between $5,000-$10,000 (roughly 5,474,950-10,949,900 Korean Won) so to not be in so much debt if I’m accepted...I just want to know, if I even have a sliver of a chance? I have also been acting on stage since 2006 so I could also be an actress or an MC (as I am also interested in those). Sorry if this is so long but but April fast approaching in 4 months, I’m starting to have doubts that I even have the skills to send in an audition.
And should I first look at companies who haven’t debuted a new gg within 3-5 yrs? Cuz the companies I’ve researched fits those criterias and they are known for treating idols and staff well
One last thing that I forgot to mention: I have had dancing lessons but it was when I was older (18 and 20) and it was only for 2 years...so basically the basics and control that I’ve learned so far with dancing Kpop has been self taught through watching Steezy episodes
The only legit experience i have is in musicals. But I sing on the holy and improve by adjusting to tips I've seen. I got a job recently so i will get some dance and vocal lessons. I'm 19 at the moment and have like 11 months left until I turn 20. I'm looking to audition for companies that are preparing girl groups within 2 years. I learn quickly in person, so I'm not worried that it'll take me years of training to improve on my skills.

Hey, Johnstan. I'm Shakila, from Indonesia. I've been discovering your videos for the past few months. Just want to say thank you. Your videos are the most helpful and informative out of all. I'm very grateful to find you. I have a question, Is it too late to start if I am 18 years old (19 in Korean)? I'm now in college and thinking of dropping out to pursue my dreams. College is fine, but I'm unhappy since the things I did there are not what I truly wanted to do. It gets worst, to the point that I'm depressed and having suicidal thoughts. I have this HUGE ambition to become a Kpop Idol. I have taken vocal and dance classes for 4 months now (whilst being active in college). My parents also have given their consent for me, because I clarified my plans and goals to them. But, do you think my chances are big? And, is it worth it to try? What should I do to take a step ahead of the game?
It is worth trying..and the step to go ahead is to practice harder.....don't give up ....you're still young and your age is perfect to audition...I'll root for you...good luck!!!
It is not too late. also i dont suggest dropping out of college. I think doing concurrently is fine. Unless u r signed to an agency, I dont suggest neglecting your studies as of yet
hi 🐹 🎀 i have a similar story tbh, except for the fact I'm 19. i don't like my major, but I've financial responsibilities to take care of :/ i aspire to become a kpop idol, because that's something I've always wanted to, anyways I'd say please don't drop out right now, keep auditioning and when you get selected you can drop out!! 🥺 Goodluck! ❤️
hey please answer my question .. I'm 18 now .. Can I audition for kpop . I really want to enter kpop .. I have the potential of A main vocalist .. Visual ..rapper and Lead dancer .. Is there any chance for me ??
I am will turn 14 this year and 15 according to korean age I was thinking to audition at the earliest so I can try for various auditions and train too.. can I get advice on when I should audition please
I am realizing that i am the happiest person in the world because i talk my parents about k pop audition and they but they said that first u have to get 90% in 10th then u can do the audition 😐 so i have to say yes 😁 because i wanted to be a kpop idol😀 I have a question that when we do the audition does we have to make a song by own and then perform or any song can we perform when we give the audition ?
Hope you all stay motivated and work hard regardless of your age ~

I like your videos 💜💜💜. And I want to become a kpop idol and can you pls cheer me for my kpop auditions.
If you tell your audience that what are the darkest side of kpop industry.... like nepotism kind of and which are those companies which give full of freedom for writing own lyrics, directing, and many more curricular activities.......ik it's big hit but if you know others too then plz say.....and yeah plz don't forget to make a video on darkest side of kpop industry.
Its humble request plzz
Thank you so much!!!!
Unless u r signed to an agency, I dont suggest neglecting your studies as of yet

hi 🐹 🎀
i have a similar story tbh, except for the fact I'm 19. i don't like my major, but I've financial responsibilities to take care of :/ i aspire to become a kpop idol, because that's something I've always wanted to, anyways I'd say please don't drop out right now, keep auditioning and when you get selected you can drop out!! 🥺 Goodluck! ❤️
hey please answer my question ..
I am realizing that i am the happiest person in the world because i talk my parents about k pop audition and they but they said that first u have to get 90% in 10th then u can do the audition 😐 so i have to say yes 😁 because i wanted to be a kpop idol😀
I have a question that when we do the audition does we have to make a song by own and then perform or any song can we perform when we give the audition ?
I'm 20 and I have dance, singing and production skills...maybe I have some possibilities 🤔
