Iain Fraser I did not realize you also fished still waters. These I have aplenty in the south east of England it is just the rivers we lack. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. I see your fly pattern was not changed much from the successes you have on the River Dee. Keep up the good work.
Yes, I was never a fan of still waters but occasionally like to try to hook a 3-5lb 'bow' on pretty much the same patterns (but on a #14 Partridge Barbless). Thing is, on an 8'-9' #5 rod (which doesn't get me out far) you're fighting the fish for up to 5-8 minutes. I guess some would see this as unsporting or even unkind on the fish... but I see guys with 9.5' #8 rods simply hauling the bows in on pretty gruesome looking lures (again, each to their own! I like my flies to look like flies). But the rivers of Donegal on Ireland's west coast were my learning grounds... and I've always loved the browns in rivers & streams above all others.
@@eoincampbell-flyfishermana4737 Hi Eoin, a man after my own heart and whilst I dislike lures and things that do not really represent a natural insect living in the East of England and fishing the big reservoirs - Rutland/Grafham/Pitsford and Eyebrook I know that there is a place for them if you are looking at doing reasonable well in |competitions although my favourite fly there is the buzzer which has served me pretty well most years and have always got a place in the EPFFA England team each year. I tend to use 10'6" , 7# rods and if the fish are up like to use dries but less and less these days do you find fish rising. I think it must be the way they are reared before being stocked. Thanks for talking.
Evening, Andrew. Simple reason is that the GoPro is worn on my head and switched off and on depending on when I think I may hook and land a fish. It’s on quite a lot. I like to take photos of some of my fish as I also do watercolour sketches of them and sometimes me fishing 🎣 . The photo quality is far sharper than the GoOro 😉👌

Nice 👍
I only had a few takes this day, Philip... but it was worth the wait to see this guy jump so much. All released unharmed ;)
@@eoincampbell-flyfishermana4737 Its always great watching them swim back into the water.
@@philipschaefer7939 I agree totally 💯 👌
just wondering why you filmed yourself photographing a caught fish? other than that great vid of fly fishing at Brenig
