'Replacing the big dents with hundreds of little ones', win!
That looks stunning Max, what a transformation. Just putting the wings on made such a difference.
Trashed Land Rover to stunning beauty. Off the frame restoration utilitarian style, after all a real Land Rover was sought for it's ruggedness. Well done Max, I'm enjoying all your videos.
This Ladies and Chaps, is what a REAL Restoration looks like.
Thanks Maximus for the Journey.
Of course we look forward to take us through the M.O.T and a Trip around the Countryside.
Technically, being a 1978 model it’s tax and MOT exempt. Although after such an in-depth restoration it wouldn’t hurt to put it through one just to check you haven’t missed anything. Fantastic job so far though.
Its brilliant to see Kermit taking shape. I can say from experience its hard enough doing the work on a refurb like this without filming it too, thanks for sharing. The comment about replacing one big dent with hundreds of small ones cracked me up.
You must get an immense satisfaction from making those old battered panels useable again.
Very impressive! I like the way you've not tried to make it look concourse, just as Land Rover should be! Can't wait for the next episode. Thanks.
Well done Max - this is going to be some mean machine! Love the way you improvise your way through the build - the old Landie should survive for a long time once it's complete. Thanks for the video, entertaining and informative.
Proper restoration this, better than replace culture you normally see all the time.
The one thing I like most is that you're not applying gobs of filler to hide the hammering on the panels, a lot of people go to so much effort to make things look smooth and perfect that it extends a project by years, cos at the end of the day, it's a work horse, not a show horse... :P
There is nothing better than getting home from work, putting my feet up and watching you tinker. I bet that workshop smells amazing!
She looks mint Max . And with that sound deadening your ears wont bleed when you go over 35 mph .
I can hear the excitement in your voice. Well done Max.
If I could have a Land Rover (which in my case isn't practicable but we'll gloss over that) then this would be what I'd want
I used that sound deadening material on a van when converting it into a campervan. Really made a huge difference. It stopped sounding like an old builders van and made a much nicer driving experience. I found you only really need it in the middle of a large panel. No need to go edge to edge.
I hope you're really proud of this project. It looks great and you're saving a nice old truck from the scrapper. 90% done, 90% to go!
I have to say that I wasn’t keen on the color at first. But now, it looks amazing. So jelly.
I find watching other people paint stuff very soothing - I know how much hard work the preparation is!
This is wonderful - getting down to the finishing details ... soon!
SOOOO satisfying to watch progress. Excellent work Maestro. Thank you for sharing your labours and expertise.
That is amazing I love it. You don't make it look easy either you make it look exactly as hard as it is and we can see the massive amount of time and effort you put in bravo sir, bravo.
Great idea with the bonnet insulation. It will help considerably with the harmonic vibration noise you get at certain revs. But you know this , lol :)
You have come so far with this project. Hours of dedication and attention to detail. It looks awesome. What an inspiration to go save more landys!
The front end really looks great. Those chaps at Grenadier should take note.
You are getting there! Once it’s finished, people are going to wonder why is it called Kermit.
You’ve always impressed me Max, but today you raised the bar sir.
Brilliant project reflecting your vision and dogged perseverance.
Inspiring, entertaining and educational.
Thanks for sharing.
The high speed tap tap technique on it`s own is worth the visit.
Can`t wait to see the biggest smiles ever when you and Mark go on the maiden voyage.
Hopefully grandad can make another appearance soon.
Your laugh at 39.00 said it all Max 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Early on I was surprised by the colour choice and liking it even less as it progressed, but now it is looking great. Good call. The disco rims suit it as well. I think they are the few non series rims that look good on both series and defenders.
The build is really coming along, but still a crazy amount of fiddling and fettling to do. Just like building a house, the last little bits can take forever.
Kermit is coming along nicely, it’s been great to watch the progress.
What a bloody good job you have done on your land-rover, that looks great.
Kermit is looking mighty fine..
Amazing build, you’ve done yourself proud!
Looks fantastic Max, you are making a great job of it. Less of the Kermit and more of the Colmans now.
Cup of tea well earned.... brilliant job Max
Once you have finished Kermit I would love to see it driving down one of the UK's green lanes 👍
Great look! Before the windscreen, it reminds me of the SAS 'Pink Panther' style.
It really does look excellent Max, this is a real treat to witness!
love the colour, it will be nice driving something you know every nut and bolt is 100%
Looking brilliant Max I’m looking forward to hearing the engine running 👌
I must say I wasn’t keen on the choice of colour but watching it all come together it’s an absolute winner! Well done Max incredible work looking forward to seeing the end result.
I wasn’t sure about the color when you first showed it but with those black accents it looks amazing!!
Going to be a real nice old Landy when your done, no longer a crusty old rotter, it'll out live you and I!
Watched it on Patreon. Watching it here again to get your view numbers up 😊
Looking excellent. Brings back memories of restoring my series 2A in 1988
Looking good, can't wait to see it galloping around the fields
I was half thinking you were going to paint that bonnet black 👌 looking good
It’s coming along all right!! Maybe I’ve reached the stage where I also start wanting an old Landie….
To quote Mr Burns: ‘excellent’
Massive progress Max, I've always loved the Camel Trophy look. Some skilled refurb goig on here. I'm really looking forward to the completed truck.
🎉cracking the bonnet is perfect. great idea with the sound proofing. it will also help with corrosion with the two different metals. Camel trophy has nothing on this vehicle.🥳
Defender bonnet and Series split screen throws the eye for a second but it does look good. Cheers
She is looking really nice i’ll be looking forward to the test drive later
Worked on my bonnet. Just absorbing the top end racket from the tdi is a massive improvement. I suspended a double layer of felt underlay sandwiching a sheet of compressed cotton waste( top of a bed base, out of a skip, just like the heavy felt). It’s hanging under the bonnet on for studs I welded onsupportinga nought and crosses grid of thin hardwood laths. Works well. It wasn’t improved by putting the under bonnet foam onto the underneath of the bonnet. The more water absorbent the better when it comes to sound, the foam does reflect.
Simply amazing. Please enable the thanks function on your channel
Looking great Max
Looking pretty good Max. Kinda reminds me of the old international scout of the 70’s. Or maybe a jeep.
There's nothing better than spraying in the rain!
wonderful i will try to keep watching and also get my wide to watch as she got me into landrover 23 years ago mind you i always lie them from when I was young
Kermit is looking great
Great job Max first class workmanship well done.looks great. am looking forward to the next episode.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Keep it coming. About a quarter way through reviving a petrol 88. Every video is more motivation. Great job.
Starting to look really good. Not sure people will realise the massive amount of work you’ve put in to this. It’s going to be great when it’s done
Unless you've done similar or watch videos like these, very few people realise.
Especially PO'ing when a cunt door dings my Landy and says "it's just a old Land Rover"🙄
I spent 3 years restoring a Mercedes 508D
Wasn’t sure when you decided on the sand colour max but wow I’m so impressed now, the contrasting black parts make it look outstanding. Well done you, can’t wait to see it go on the road 👍
That's a brilliant motor! Mate, you got a bird magnet there!
Cup of tea well deserved. Thank you.
Looking like an absolute beast Max. Great colour choice!
Well done mate, lookin great.
Why people love old Landys.
A nice wee boost to keep the spirits up 🥃👍
who knew beige could be so butch love it
Wow not only working out what goes where, it has taken some editing to show the rebuild in correct order. It must have taken months of prep work then too edit the filming in order . Hearty congratulations !!!!
Good to see the happy enthusiasm, cheers
Slowly but surely getting there Max. Looking forward to see it mobile again.
Keep doing what you're doing. You're an inspiration to many. And a pleasure to watch.💪👍
Congratulations on the great progress - and great results!
Looks great - what a wonderful job Max.
Max , I am looking for your vid that covers the overhaul of a S3 steering box and relay. Great vids mate. Glad your smiling again.
Soundproofing! Whatever next. Looking really good
Amazing looking. A real labour of love Max.
Looks splendid, an old Land rover that has been loved. Top stuff Max.
That's looking awesome. The hard work is certainly paying off now. Loving the colour scheme too.
Looks awesome, little extra things like the soundproofing are a nice touch 👍
Great work Max! Thoroughly enjoying watching you make progress with the build. Cheers
Bloody brilliant max!, make sure you block all the holes in the bulkheadwith grommets or mastic, and add as much soundproofing to the bulkhead as you can1 It makes a huge difference! cracking video!
Phil, East Yorkshire
Fantastic - That's what we call 'hand built' If I could do a fraction of the work with your skill I would be very proud of how the LR is now starting to gain shape and look like they were when built but with some nice improvements
Fantastic problem solving throughout this build resulting in something to be proud of. Thanks for the inspiration Max
Great Progress - looking good - keep up the good work -- the smile on your face gets bigger as the landy becomes more complete ! ! ! She will be a unique and fun vehicle when complete ! !
It’s gonna be a great car. Bravo and chapeau for your detailed and thorough approach!!!
It looks great Max! Looking like a Landie at last!
Excellent Max, I really enjoyed this episode and as you say, "it's really coming together now".
Great progress and it looks bang on.
Great progress, inspected by your Hens too. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful! One little problem... it's no longer Kermit now, looks more like Colonel Mustard 😄
Absolutely amazing job Max and incredibly enthralling to watch your progress. The next instalment can’t come soon enough!👍🏻🙂
Well done Sir, it will turn a few heads when rolling down the road.
Custom made masterpiece, tbh. 🔥
Impressive and inspirational as always!
Love your videos you don’t pad it with B.S. really enjoy them
Looks beautiful! I’ve restored a 1989 Defender and put loads of Series panels on it (also a 4 litre Thor V8). Our trucks look related.
Absolutely fantastic Max she's really starting to come together now. Loved the blacked out trim pieces on the wings it really sets off the front end a treat.
Haven't even watched this- Knows it's brilliant 😊 I've missed your updates, Max - thanks for brightening up the week...❤
Very pleasing to watch.
