- www.ted.com Animal fan Nellie McKay sings a sparkling tribute to her dear dog. She suggests we all do the same: "Just go right to the pound/ And find yourself a hound/ And make that doggie proud/ 'cause that's what it's all about."

so adorable
I first heard about Nellie when PETA emailed me 'Columbia is Bleeding'. I immediately after more songs and wasn't let down! I love her music!
creative, original and intelligent ..... a rarity in a world of cookie cutouts.... this woman is a breath of fresh air... more Nellie please.
She's such a wonderful woman. And look at her eyes; they look so wacky and wise! I think she is.
OMG!!! I LOVE NELLIE!!!!
She can do this. she can pay some sweet jazz shit. And she can RAP. I mean it. this woman is the REAL DEAL.
@jeschinstad oh totally! first time i saw an image of her on her cover art i told a friend how very sharp a look she had. this was before i heard the music - that face just looks whipsmart
Very cool...!
@uzumakifoxtube Definitely. This song, however, embodies her character. She is a musician who actually HAS a message! It's amazingly refreshing to stumble across artists who are talented but also have a message in terms of politics or human rights and whatnot. 'Ke$ha' released her 'We R Who We R' in lieu of the recent gay suicides, or so she says. There's literally NOTHING about that song that even remotely relates to being gay or the suicides, aside from the titel itself.
I find this video very emotional and original.
One can also find "memes" in the arts as well. Not all human knowledge is reduced to Science.
:D
interesting
huh?
TED would do very well to eliminate the music from their program. Every musician I've seen them present is of the I-don't-get-it-but-they-say-it's-art variety.
Normally the ted talks give me something to think about. But this one actually makes me feel dumber.
And sometimes some amie mann victoria teng wannabe ends up in a series of lectures with the stated goal of spreading ideas and knowledge and makes dog noises. Not that there isn't a place for that in some other venue but it seems to go counter to the purpose of the TED lectures. then again it was only five minutes maybe it was an intermission between interesting things or some sort of brain relaxer for people who'd just had their minds blown.
what the hell's a kate bush? Tori amos would probably actually give a lecture on something if she went to TED. She wouldn't devolve to whiney nose singing and dog noises.
You're case being that dog whimpers and childish rambling is equivalent to intelligent thought, and should share a forum with it?
Or that some obscure person that is meaningful to you is meaningless to me?
so bad
that dog sound was anoying
wow that was pretty bad
