I have 3 of these mamiya sekors. Like you, I hadn't realized how gorgeous it was until reviewing footage and I was absolutely in love. I've since compared it to many other primes from several different brands and nothing matches up. I'm at the point where I may end up getting other focal lengths and just never even trying other lenses. It's nice when you land on a tool that you vibe with and don't have to rethink it.
I love my Mamiya 55mm f1.4. You need to find yourself the Vivitar line in 28mm f2.5, 35mm f2.8, and 135mm f2.8. Together, it's a dream lens set. Lens flares and halation are INSANE.
That sounds like an awesome set. I do have a 28mm vivitar vintage lens but it doesn't work on my camera because I can't get it to focus to infinity. There might be some ways to work around it, but it's a PK mount and I think that's the problem. What type of mounts are your lenses? From research I see that they offer a few different mounts on the vivitars.
I got a vivitar 28mm f3.5 and it's one of my favorite street photography lenses gonna have to keep at eye out for the f2.5. Vivitar got some real hidden gems.
My Sears AUTO 55mm 1.4 that I've had for only 3 months started getting aperture blade stick, and only stops down to f5.6. Still very useful, but it put me on ebay. I got lucky 10 ten days ago and got the Mamiya-Sekor 55mm 1.4 in great shape, for 30 freakin bucks. But there was a Canon EOS adapter on it with no obvious way to remove it. (I'm Fuji). Well, one tiny Philips screw removed and then only a WRENCH got that thing off. (Screw mount) I thought it would just be another M42. But I had a Helicoid adapter from a failed Konica lens project laying around, and now I'm shooting macro with it. It's a little odd having both the lens focus and the Helicoid focus to pick from. But the video and still macro at f1.4 is gorgeous. Warm? My default on my Fuji is the white balance is set to auto plus the setting is four pegs right and 4 down to warm things up. It's permanent. Looking at your video, It's definitely warm, reddish warm, with dark rich skin tones. That's very close to what VPS film does, (or did) and was used extensively in portrait and wedding work. It was THE look. It's a sim that should be made for Fuji, and available for raw in Lightroom and in Capture One.
Wow! Thats a great buy! Especially for how good this lens is, that's a great addition to your gear at an amazing price...Yes, I love shooting photos with it too. I like to pair it with my Canon 5d classic.
@@JonathanKMoore Nice! I scored this in near mint condition along with 10 other near mint lenses and 3 focal adapters for $100. I love them all. It's neither, I think those models came later. I believe this would be considered the first generation. And yes I'm learning about how great their glass is and I love it.
Thanks for that info. That's going to be an awesome set. After using this lens I think I might do the same. What lenses do you have now and what recommendations do you have for me?

I’m curious how you shot that video in what appears to be a tight setting. You must have been right up in their grills.
Haha. I wasn’t as close as you might think. But that’s what makes this lens so interesting
I have this. Just awesome.
For sure. This little lens is a gem!
Never selling it, just like my CZ 28mm Distagon.
@@giljesusseraspe9225 That's a sweet lens. I would never let go of that either.

Nice! That’s a a great deal… I agree that look should be available, but I bet you could find a preset somewhere that could get you close.
Just remember, yours is absolutely radioactive. I have one of those and just don't keep it in my bedroom, haha.
I got one for $7. Its shoots amazing photos too

Mamiya Sekor CS or SX? Mamiya has some of the best glass.

I'm building a SX set.

How do they all compare and work together? Is the entire set as gorgeous?
just got one of these for 10 bucks at thrift store. nice.
