    Greetings from the Land Downunder! It would be most interesting and a good idea, if we could also have a regiment or two of Gurkha in this country. It would augment our militaries' numbers and ability to some extent!

    Just went through the comments below which made me proud that I am a Nepalese Citizen. Nepalese must know the amount of gratitude we have earned through vicious war and bravery, but the sad thing is that Nepalese are forgetting their ancestors Karma. There should be more videos that educate Nepalese of how brave they are/have been.

    Proud to have the Gurkhas representing our country and serving in our armed forces protecting us. They are fierce warriors but they are also humble and kind hearted. The very least we can do is give them full citizenship including for their families. If you serve us and protect us then we owe you that much.

    Makes me angry that these loyal people serving in the Gurkha regiment who are just fascinated and love British culture are (mostly) not allowed British citizenship/live in the UK after their service. Yet we allow in thousands of Muslims; a lot of which are advocating for Sharia Law and refuse to properly integrate into British society.

    • @Kizron_Kizronson
      @Kizron_Kizronson 6 лет назад +56

      The laws changed years ago to allow Gurkhas to settle in the UK. If you bother to learn a bit of the history of your own country you will find out that most of the inequalities that were fixed were actually due to international treaties that Britain was bound by. For example when India gained independence they included a condition that British Gurkhas had to be paid less because the Indians didn't want to pay their Gurkhas a proper wage and were worried that they would all join British Gurkha regiments for the money.

    • @Mr__Chicken
      @Mr__Chicken 6 лет назад +27

      As far as I know Gurkhas do not automatically gain UK citizenship. They have to apply for it, and I'm not sure how many are actually accepted. Also there is controversy over Ghurkas who served before the 00's and are not allowed citizenship despite their service. But lets just let in millions of undocumented migrants into Europe and the UK and give anyone in the EU the ability to come here and not let anyone else in the world (say from the commonwealth) come here.
      Also why are you spitting this "bother to learn your history, the Brits did this to the gurkhas" at me? like I am some kind of supporter of the British Empire or advocated for these treatises? I know a lot of history, I didn't know about these treatises though, no need for this passive aggressive attitude mate.

    • @Kizron_Kizronson
      @Kizron_Kizronson 6 лет назад +10

      Yes there was a problem for gurkhas who retired before 1997, but even that got sorted out and BACKDATED so that they got covered. Commonwealth citizens automatically get a 6 month visa to visit the UK and an easier application to settle, I should know I am from the colonies. I do agree with some of your views on immigration, but it needs to be clarified that it has been a long time since our gurkhas got second rate treatment. Be pissed off for the right reasons.

    • @johnwalsh3635
      @johnwalsh3635 6 лет назад +9

      Russell They all get citizenship after four years service and one year of right to settle after their service. The historical issues have also been sorted out now. The equalisation of the Gurkha terms and conditions has reduced their numbers significantly. Because they cost the same as the rest of the army, they are equally subject to defense cuts. Fewer Nepali families getting an income than before. Pity really. The Pound goes much further in Nepal than it does in the UK.
