Listening to this nocturne, the mind starts wandering the desolate coastal stretch of western Australia, all the way to the northwestern tip without finding any city, then rushing back quickly when the opening theme returns, and quietly slips back amongst the audience before the nocturne ends.
One of the finest renditions of this piece I've ever heard - thank you James! Were you perhaps a little rushed by anxiety? I almost felt like some more time could be taken in the larger phrases. Regardless, an eye-wateringly beautiful performance :)
Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm very glad that you loved it! That night, I felt particularly drawn to play it at the tempo you heard. It was the spontaneity and connection with the moment that influenced my interpretation, including the 'poco stretto' sections where Chopin calls for a slight pushing of the tempo. Thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts! 🎵
@@mittobit-g2j I'm glad you enjoy Chopin's Ballade No. 1 in G minor - it's such a masterpiece! I appreciate your suggestion and will keep it in mind for future videos 🎶
