Happy for Jared for getting the bag! He is a good dude and I'm not hating on anyone getting the bag if someone is willing to give it. However, $212M will limit the team's moves moving forward. I would have been comfortable with signing him to a 4 or 5 year extension at $45M per. With these kinds of resources being thrown at one player it doesn't leave much room to go sign a free-agent pass rush. Brad will have to go to the dollar store for his pash rush opposite, Hutch!🤔

Jared likely had little to do with that sum over 4 years in terms of the negotiations as an agent is paid off of a percentage. HIs agent appears to have pushed the envelope and it came back with millions. Jared is good and has two Achilles tendons. 1. He throws a ball that is often nose down, which makes it travel less well in the wind which equates to poor games in outdoor stadiums (should the wind be prevalent). 2. Although semi-mobile, without the Lions elite offensive line, he is going to struggle more so than the more mobile quarterbacks. This will likely reveal itself more this season as opponents will be, overall, better (in terms of pass-rush and pass defense) than who they played last year.

What I been saying something happens to somebody on oline it’s open season on Goff. I have a problem with his game because he doesn’t have to necessarily be a mobile qb but if he plans on being statue in the pocket he needs to be elusive. Once somebody breaks through it looks like he has concrete blocks on his feet and that is why he is t worth this much. Should have left deal alone, tag him after, then get qb of future in draft on rookie deal.

I was hoping for abit less around 45mil or so. Hes a good QB but he's standing behind a good O-line.
I in no way put him up with mobile QBs like Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Hurts and Murray. Brad Holmes would have been better at 45 million per year with it all guaranteed for 3 years. If Goff balks at that use the franchise tag on him and you still are better off financially. Overpaying for Goff hurts the team going forward. Due to the cap it will be very tough now to build a solid team on both sides of the ball. You can't resign everyone when resetting the market with St Brown, Sewell and now Goff 🙁 All I can say now is they had better win a super bowl this season. They will be in major cap space trouble the next few years and Hutch, Mcneil, Laporta and Gibbs will want good paydays.
They most certainly will be hurting. This is how good teams turn to crap real fast. Look at bengals, burrow got bag, bengals turn to trash. Cleveland, Dallas, Josh Allen, ….. you build team and get a first or second year qb on rookie deal like San Fran. Not happy right now.

For the naysayers with the tunnel vision…there’s Only 1 winner each year…..Mahomes is the only current “mobile” QB who has won a Super Bowl. Brady (the GOAT) and Stafford were pocket passers who won the chip. Since football is a team sport, the only hardware that matters is the Lombardi. Lamar, Hurts, Allen, Burrow…all right there with Goff at 0 SB wins. I think that just might change this year, though go Lions!!
