    Goff has balled, last year and a half he's played at a top 5 level. He's done it with class. You pay that lvl of talent. He is elevating talent around him, become a leader, and moves on from mistakes quickly.

    I call Brad and the numbers guy for the Detroit Lions Kings of the 3yr. Deal. They essentially got a 4yr. Deal for the QB. But it's the most important and expensive of the team so I can't argue with the deal. The way I see them operate is that they give you the deal that you want, but if you don't fulfill your end of the agreement, they ask for some of the money back. I like this arrangement because they do reward you with the contract, but it's up to you to continue to produce to keep the contract in tact. It's a incentive based deal except they give you the incentives up front where it's up to you to keep them.

  • @jerrylance4932

    What really matters is what counts against the cap each year. The team option the last year still could hold dead cap money if they part ways.

  • @timothyshort5933

    Would be a 23.25 mil cap hit if he is cut his last year. (Estimate without contract details 18.25 signing, 5 mil guarantees)

  • @johnlawson1167
    @johnlawson1167 26 дней назад

    Cap hit should look like 46/51/56/61.
    The %of cap itll take up over that timespan depends on how much the cap grows.
    If the cap space grows at 7% per year goff will make about 17.5% of the total cap over the entire extension.
    If the cap grows at 13% each year (like it did from 23 to 24) than goff will make about 15.1% of the total cap. (Roughly what matt ryan made the year he took the falcons got to "28-3".

    Goff has earned it. He made the throws to help St. Brown get his bag. And Sewell blocked for them. If Brad can afford it, it sends a great message to free agents. We pay for play. If my contract is coming up, I’m thinking about how to stay with the Lions rather than go somewhere for the bag. If I’m on another team I’m looking to get to the Lions. The contracts are set for the core of the offense. So they can focus on just football. Not a bad move at all. IMO

    im glad that he did get extended but why draft hendon hooker if he isnt even gonna play and he will be the same age as goff is now by the time his contract is up, we coulda drafted something that made an instant impact or close to it, maybe as insurance policy or just to have a good backup qb but im pretty sure goff wont likely be injured since he isnt a “mobile qb” just questions and confusion honestly but i dont mind this at all lol

    Does the signing bonus get paid all at once or over time ? Looks like in the 1st 2 years he get 62,500 million per year and 40 million in the 3rd year is that right ? For those people who still have a problem with Goff I have a question for you , how much did the Lions Stafford for his time in Detroit and WHAT did they get for it ? I know I am old but I seem to remember that the Lions NEVER won a playoff game or a division title ! Go ahead and correct me IF am wrong ! So, Goff no matter whether you like him or not has done more, with the help from BH, DC and BJ then Stafford did in 11 or 12 years !

    Goff most definitely would've won a SB with that Rams team. Especially if he was playing at the level he is right now. Anyone that says different is a casual and didn't realize they went all in for that year.

    I think he's worth whatever the cost of not reverting backwards. Since starting season outcomes have gotten better in a linear fashion. Not loser talk progress. Real momentuforward. He seems to be good with the team chemistry and if you don't you'll see the NFL take him away like they did our whole team. Oh wait. That actually happened. Keep him and pay attention when they start talking about a new stadium or not with public school funds

    I don't need the breakdown to know it's a great deal. All you have to do is look at 2 facts! The salary cap raise and what's on deck for QB contracts!! QB contracts break the $60m market next off-season!! A year from now, Goff will be the 7th highest paid QB in the league then...unless someone shows a flash that causes an overreaction by another front office(it happens all the time). Then he'll be the 8th or 9th highest paid in the league!
    The deal is an absolute STEAL, when you look at the big picture! Jared Goff just gave the Lions a team friendly deal, the likes of Tom Brady!!
    Let's look back at this deal a year from now and compare to the contracts of Tua, Trevor, Dak, Love and Purdy!! Then we'll see how GREAT that deal really is!!
