    Mexican folklore says the poinsettia is called Flower of the Holy Night due to its resemblance to the Star of Bethlehem.
    According to Mexican lore, a young child, Pepita, did not have a gift for the baby Jesus at a Christmas Eve service. She was penniless, so all she could do was pick a bouquet of weeds to offer. The angels felt compassion for her plight. So, after Pepita set the flowers at the crèche of the nativity on Christmas Eve, the angels transformed the weeds into beautiful red flowers. This is why red and green are the colors of Christmas today. Sweet story and I love to grow them at Christmas. I know you like pink flowers and I have 3 different pink poinsettias this year. I do let them go to compost in the spring I usually don't try to grow them all year.

    Okay so my mom has now had her Calathea and she is waters frequently but not so much that the water runs out the bottom. Only enough to drip a few times. She keeps it in her bathroom so which is east facing window but the higher humidity helps..I’m trying out some of her tips. I’ll let you know how it goes. My Tineke is outside in the spring and summer and inside during late fall and winter. I keep it in front of my northwest facing window with a grow light and it is still actively growing though much slower

    I would have gotten that beautiful rojo congo (probably spelled it wrong) would love to fnd one that size. I dont have a home depot near me unfortunately. love philodendron and pothos. I can't do plant trends, to me it makes the plant less attractive when I see a massive price tag on it. I just recently got a Philodendron white wizard and white knight.

    I agree the hype for the fiddle leaf peaked during covid costa farms was pumping them out like crazy I remember getting one for 10@ aldis and was the 1st plant I didn’t like due to it’s finicky nature . It was a twig in 1 week😢

    • @growfolds
      @growfolds  3 дня назад +1

      Yeah they are super finicky. I've had one too that didn’t make it!

    The hype is the price. Anyone can go online or to a nursery and get one. A Michelle is available to everyone, but its 2-300$ depending on size and what shop. The fact that these are being TC'd, the value can now go down. Now TC is a blessing and a curse. It gives buyers the chance to get that wishlist plant at a lower cost however it does come with side affects. MOST TC plants could easily mutate and or revert quicker or just have random things pop up as it matures. Im very happy its cheaper now at home depot via proven winners, but im going to wait still. Do you know how many michelles will drown the market now? Ppl TCing themselves cuz thats a thing (there are at home tutorials) or splitting their purchase if theyre lucky and find 2 in a pot or will be breeding them. The price will drop more and ill be even more satisfied when i get mine for 20$. Im in no rush ^.^ 95$ is a lot better than triple digit price tag for sure though!

    Philodendron White night does it need direct Light ?

    • @growfolds
      @growfolds  3 дня назад +1

      No bright indirect light

  • @gazmatazz3002
    @gazmatazz3002 3 дня назад

    I don't have the poinsettia. Their aesthetic isnt for me. I did try once to keep them after the holidays but getting the color brackets back in time isnt worth it for me. I do have the Thanksgiving cactus though. I enjoy the blooms,therefore its worth my time.

    • @growfolds
      @growfolds  3 дня назад +1

      That makes sense. I don't think I've ever tried to keep a poinsettia either.

      @gazmatazz3002 3 дня назад

      @growfolds so this is your first time? Goodluck to you richie. Caring doe one is easy. It's getting the color brackets back in time for Christmas that's a hassle.

    • @growfolds
      @growfolds  3 дня назад +1

      I see. Do they need a lot of light?

    • @gazmatazz3002
      @gazmatazz3002 3 дня назад

      @@growfolds bright indirect light for normal keep. To get the brackets it needs like 12 hrs of darkness. Each day. For a few weeks or so. Then you gradually introduce light so you dont flashbomb the poor light.
