I'm almost 57. I gotta be around your pops age. He's probably younger, though. I love the pops and son and daughter stuff. What a loving and close knit family. I love it!
When you found the writing on the back of the spoiler it all made sense. The "24 Hours of Lemons" is an endurance race for ordinary guys - you go out and find a junker, get it running, and bring it and race it. But it can't be over $500.
it started in the 2012 24 hours of lemons, there is a picture of it online here is the description........... That brings us to the I Got Screwed Award, which want to the Apex Vinyl Mater six-wheeled Toyota Hilux pickup. With its slushbox transmission and ill-suited-for-LeMons-racing 20R engine, the six-wheeler isn’t anywhere near fast, but the Apex Vinyl team looked to have the class win nailed down with less than an hour to go on Sunday. Then the truck wouldn’t start after a pit stop, and the TARP “Simca” got the Class C win by two laps.
Great job on making the video. All those camera setups! Those action shots take up so much time to plan and implement. Its so easy to take it for all granted, but the time it takes to put it all together is like watching an orchestra director at a concert.
You guys really do a good job working on old classics. I enjoy watching what you guys do and I feel that I'm there helping you lol. Thanks for sharing all that you guys do and God Bless You Guys.
Wonderful video, Found your channel a while back. Brings back memory's of myself and my Dad working on his old Cars. I went on to qualify as a Mechanic. Loved it. Watching you guys ever since. May the good Lord watch over you and your Dad. Big Thumbs up.
Hope some performance company like holley support them for parts. I love watching them bringing neglected cars back to the road. Keep it up Restored team
I love this channel and what you all do. You had asked in the most recent falcon ranchero video why this toyota truck wasn't as popular as your other "will it run" videos. I grew up in my dad's shop and have been working on old cars for years and I will just say that people could not relate because it wasn't something they drove in high school, it wasn't something grandpa had on the farm and the truck was just too far gone with rust for people to imagine it having a new lease on life. That said, keep on doing what you do because I will watch every video. Thanks for the great content!
20R The 2-valve SOHC 2.2 L (2,190 cc) 20R was produced from 1975 through 1980. Cylinder bore and stroke was 88.5 mm × 89 mm (3.48 in × 3.50 in). Aluminum alloy heads were used. Initial output was 72 kW (97 hp; 98 PS) at 4800 rpm (90 hp (67 kW; 91 PS) in California) and 162 N⋅m (119 lb⋅ft) at 2,800 rpm. Power was down slightly from 1978 through 1979 at 71 kW (95 hp; 97 PS) at 4800 rpm and 165 N⋅m (122 lb⋅ft) at 2400 rpm. The final version, from 1979 through 1980, was down again at 67 kW (90 hp; 91 PS) at 4800 rpm (still at 95 hp (71 kW; 96 PS) in Canada) and 165 N⋅m (122 lb⋅ft) at 2400 rpm. The 20R and subsequent models featured important design changes relative to the earlier SOHC R-series engines. The head was changed from a reverse-flow to a cross-flow type with hemispherical combustion chambers and shorter valve rockers. The timing chain was strengthened. The lower block bearings were strengthened against wear, safeguarding oil pressure, and the stroke was lengthened. The changes increased torque substantially and shifted peak power and torque towards the lower speed range. The later R series engines did much to establish Toyota's reputation for reliability, which had previously been indifferent at best. Applications: 1975-1980 Toyota Hilux 1975-1980 Toyota Celica (U.S. Version) 1975-1980 Toyota Corona (U.S. Version) Toyota Stout (RK110/111) Toyota Coaster (RB11)[20]
I would have changed those plugs early on, but one never knows. There are many things that contribute to the running or NOT running, and I bet on you and Toyota engines! WINNERS!
Yep. That looks like a Lemons truck. I don't know a ton about it (I'm in another country) but the 24 hrs of Lemons is a long race for crazy people with crazy cars having a lot of fun. Ya, the judges are crazy too. It probably had that much rust when it hit the track. The extra axle and the wing are just there for the fun of it.
That duct tape on the oil filter had me rolling and reminded me of a friend from way back in the early 80s 🤣🤣 He hit some debris in the road and sprung a leak in his oil filter and duct taped it. Most of his van was held together with duct tape! He made it work though 🙏🙏
Wow! What on earth did you get into with that thing! Again your persistence came through. I can’t say it’s one of the prettiest you’ve ever done, but maybe one with the most holes. Talk about flow through ventilation! Great work, Great video! Thank you all!
Back in the day I had a 77 Toyota Corona Wagon. I named it Timex because despite having been T-Boned, the ol' lady rear ended someone in it, Stolen (and recovered eventually), did some mild practice hits on my demolition derby cars, and having almost 300K, it definitely took a lickin and kept on tickin. It finally met it's demise when the guy I sold it to was running from the cops and tried to cross the rail road tracks where you weren't supposed to cross them. ANYWHO, I always thought that little knob thing on the distributor was to "fine tune" the timing. But that's just what I thought, not really sure. Those 20R and 22RE motors are bullet proof. God Bless!
That thing takes the term rat rod to a whole new level. Fun to watch you get it going, but I don't think it's going to pass any inspections, safety or otherwise. Keep having fun, and stay safe.
Regarding that old fuel pump.... Ahem.... (in my best southern appalachian accent) - Go on an THO ya anuhder un on ayr!!!! 😃 Seriously though, good work on this ol 'yota, thanks for the video and God Bless!
Great job getting it going! It sounds pretty good now that it's running on all four. It is unique enough that it you could find another cab to swap onto it maybe someone will buy it for more than you have in it? Awesome video!
I think what I like best about your videos is the father/son teamwork. I make similar videos, and wish my son had more interest in cars and motorcycles.
Excellent video RESTORE Crew Wyatt :) , Lance :) , Christine :) also nice video on Race Truck and nickname Catch Me If Can ? I like it to and wild build yes and first ever seen 6 wheels on 1977 Toyota pick up for sure and motor surprises me it 4 cylinders with 4 spark plugs also wires! Most old from that years were 2.4 litre with 2 spark plugs on each cylinder and 8 wire on one distributor cap ! Someone must use old Datsun type to for sure 👍!
You guys should get some metal to fix up that floor but I rember working on this thing I was it's pit crew at one point it did catch fire and that's when we took it out of racing I don't know what they have done with it sense
Those were good engines, nice wheels, and it does run. All else fails sell the good parts at auction and you can get your money out of it. I bet that header isn't cheap either. You may make a bit yet. Best part is you got out there with your pop. My dad is 82, not doing well, neither am I. Just good to spin a wrench with your pop. Worth every dime.
Good job getting it going rips now 👍 Any chance you could show how the rear suspension works couldn’t really see much in the video If you could that would be awesome thanks guys Cool race car👍
I still think a gale and 3 guys should do a will it start and run and drive back to home of restore we just got to get the Tennessee sasquatch on bord lol but never the less long time follower love the Chanel. God bless you all

I'm almost 57. I gotta be around your pops age. He's probably younger, though. I love the pops and son and daughter stuff. What a loving and close knit family. I love it!
You guys care so much about our entertainment that you spent money on a pile of garbage. That's commitment. Keep them coming guys love your channel
"Sight unseen?" I'd say more like "shite unseen," but trust these guys to come out on top for the entertainment, if nothing else.
It was 400 bucks, it aint that deep
400 on that thing is way deeper than most would go
Slap a cab, clip on it and a flat bed you got yourself a great shop gopher truck
No prob selling it for 900 - 1200 Bills running and prob break even if it didnt
sooooo 🤷♂️ nothing lost but a lil time

THE APEX VINYL TEAM first in there clause for 23h and wold not start after there last pit stop hence the i got screwed award

Dang it’s a 24 hr of lemons 🍋 car! That’s crazy lmao

That was awesome guys. Not sure what your plans are with it, but it needs a new cab for sure. God bless you all.
A GM HEI module can be substituted for that Toyota electronic ignition box on the coil. That’s what I did for mine. Good job guys
I believe this truck was modeled after “Mater” in the Disneys Cars series of short films in the episode “Tokyo Mater” !!
Those old 22R engines are nearly indestructible!!!!
It’s a 20R. 😛
So glad you folks were able to overcome the trials that came your way.Looking forward to your continued success.
Lance “ of course the junkiest we work on, has the best brakes “! 😂
Thanks for the laugh, I needed that! 😊
Dude...Fix it up...New cab and front clip with a new plate for the bed....That thing is wild looking... Love it just because its weird!...Good job!
The name,
"Get that thing away from me "
Impressive trouble shooting.
Thanks.
I love all the scene cuts its like im watching a reality show fr
Puddin would’ve had that thing running in less than 30 minutes. And it’s even his color. 😂
We that’s a miss Marryat bucket. A Petty blue Toyota with a Dale Earnhardt number. LMBO!!! Good work guys and gal. Love it.

That would be cool!
I'm familiar with rusty projects. And this video makes meem feel like I need a Tetanus shot
I know if anybody can get a vehicle running you guys can because you are blessed men of God. Love you guys.

That makes sense! It was a pretty cool truck and couldn’t beat the purchase price so we figured we’d give it a go! Thanks for the comment ❤️
I hate to tell you this but that could be a rocket truck too. You know what's a rocking engine on the back
Restore this car to perfection it will be cool❤

@@jmyd83 Yes Sir, been known to work on Toyota's a time or two . But mostly like the older Chevys.
I would have changed those plugs early on, but one never knows. There are many things that contribute to the running or NOT running, and I bet on you and Toyota engines! WINNERS!
I have never seen anything like that truck.Keep it.Its a one of a kind
So happy to see a new video from you all! She looks like a wrecker (not a wreck🤔)👍👍👍
Custom bumper install was mint lol
Love watching you guys figure out how to get a dead rust bucket back to life. Great work guys !!!
Yep. That looks like a Lemons truck. I don't know a ton about it (I'm in another country) but the 24 hrs of Lemons is a long race for crazy people with crazy cars having a lot of fun. We love watching you. Thanks for keeping the faith.
This is one of thr most beautiful trucks I have ever seen!
Wow! What on earth did you get into with that thing! Again your persistence came through. I can’t say it’s one of the prettiest you’ve ever done, but maybe one with the most holes. Talk about flow through ventilation! Great work, Great video! Thank you all!

Looks like a MAD MAX MACHINE !!!
Wow $400 and delivered you got an awesome deal!😱💗💗
Can’t go wrong with good ol Alabama chrome. Makes it go faster.
I need these sort of people in my life. I have an 84 chevy s10 and I have work and school and would just like my tuck to run properly.
Looks pretty cool from 100 ft away. LOL I kinda like the look of the trailing axel.
I love your channel guys, but remember always cut the radiator fan until you run the engine, thanks guys ❤❤❤❤
Good thing it has a crash cage. Or you might have been giving it a name more akin to Taco Shell.☺️
Good job, guys! It will be interesting to see what you do with that old truck.
Regarding that old fuel pump.... Ahem.... (in my best southern appalachian accent) - Go on an THO ya anuhder un on ayr!!!! 😃 Seriously though, good work on this ol 'yota, thanks for the video and God Bless!
Fellas, that thing’s a mess, I love it!
Thank you Lance for sharing your video and your APPRECIATION to your subscribers.
I’m glad it looks like your back is feeling better.
Какая крутая тачка !! Молодцы ребята, что вы поставили ее на ход! Респект вам
Wow, never saw a tandum race truck. About the only thing keeping it together is the termites holding hands 😂
Great job getting it going! It sounds pretty good now that it's running on all four. It is unique enough that it you could find another cab to swap onto it maybe someone will buy it for more than you have in it? Awesome video!
Y'all are just plain crazy! 😅🤣😂 Fun stuff though!👍✌️
As far as gettin' in & out, did you even check if that thing has a quick release steering wheel? It probably does!
That Toyota is bulletproof!! Got so much rust, bullets pass through unobstructed😂
I think what I like best about your videos is the father/son teamwork. I make similar videos, and wish my son had more interest in cars and motorcycles.
That's pretty solid for one of those
Excellent video RESTORE Crew Wyatt :) , Lance :) , Christine :) also nice video on Race Truck and nickname Catch Me If Can ? I think dad needs to go home and take a nap, your doing all the work.

Awesome video. I love yalls will it run videos keep ‘em coming thanks guys
This is insane.....but as usual most impressive. Good Job ! pb
This one looks like it came out of a cars movie. Make a great parade vehicle for sure.
“It’s as gutless as can be” pretty sure that was on the sales brochure for these new.
I clicked on this to write < we need to get Puddins Fab Shop on this, lol this is right up his alley.
Hey ya,ll 👋, that was interesting video on the mini truck. It looks bad ,but runs and drives. Thanks so much for sharing🖐
I want this truck so bad you guys are super lucky to have gotten this
Those were good engines, nice wheels, and it does run. All else fails sell the good parts at auction and you can get your money out of it.
I bet that header isn't cheap either. You may make a bit yet. Best part is you got out there with your pop. My dad is 82, not doing well, neither am I. Just good to spin a wrench with your pop. Worth every dime.
Now I'm auctioning this one lol! Awesome job guys!
I know this sounds sick but I would drive that crazy thing. Only a little crazier than my Yellow Ranger with a red drivers door.ROFLOL
Good job getting it going rips now 👍
Any chance you could show how the rear suspension works couldn’t really see much in the video
If you could that would be awesome thanks guys
Cool race car👍
Aestheticly I love this truck. I would just bedliner the whole thing to keep it together
Great one guys, love the work you are doing guys🔥😎👌❤🇳🇴
I really like cool cars ❤
She's pretty rough for sure but good job on getting her running 👍
Great job on making the video.
I love the fact its got a dodge ram hood emblem and half a ford f series grill
The old truck looks like something out of the 24 hours of lemon race, it's a race for cars valued under $500.
Ah Just call Puddin lol it’s his colour , he loves mini trucks 🛻. Would have been a great chance for a crossover lol
I still think a gale and 3 guys should do a will it start and run and drive back to home of restore we just got to get the Tennessee sasquatch on bord lol but never the less long time follower love the Chanel. God bless you all
Check with vevor and get ya a spark plug cleaner, they work great and clean fast! I had one for years
Was that a tornado siren I heard at 1:45?
That truck would be awesome with a ls swap and turbo 400 trans! patch up the rust you got one sweet race truck!💗💗
Those old Hilux’s were hard to kill.
You should name that truck Tetanus because you need to make sure you have your Tetanus shot before working on it with all the rust lol
Super! super guys really enjoyed this...a pile of junk running like a dream! Thanks guys...Cheers from the UK.
Good thing about this truck is the motor if it runs. A person can always put it in something like go cart if they decide to build one.
That ain't rust that's patina!😂😂
ok be honest..how many said get the duct tape to "fix" the oil filter?? lol love this channel
I sold my last 20r for more than 400 bucks so I think you all got a good deal, neat truck that is a bit past it's life, but neat build
Heard that tornado horn going off
New drinking game.....Take a shot every time your dad says "Yeah" ....Just playing I love the show, You have so many cool toys do you sell them?
At least it has 6 nice looking wheel's
Too incredible my friend, it's good that the car is back to life my brother I'm from Brazil and I watch your videos it's incredible I take a day to watch marathon the videos of the incredible channel congratulations on your beautiful work God bless you all amen Lord Jesus
