      I tried running the web version on my Ipad - I was pretty underwhelmed - it's definitely not optimized for mobile - unless there's a function of the app that I'm not aware of, that seems to be what's available right now...

    Nice video! Beginner here. I have a wood countertop that I need to keep default textures applied as I'm using this model in another program. How can I rotate the end grain on the side of a countertop? It's coming in with horizontal grain, and I need it vertical on the ends!

    I have several large flat surfaces made up of a large number of individual faces of various dimensions. Each face has one of seven different textures. I want to apply the same texture to the back of each face that is applied to the front. Any suggestions how I can do this quickly and easily without doing one face at a time? Thanks.

    Correction: Thrupaint is more about applying materials to surfaces rather then about creating materials.
    Talking about built-in sketchup texturing functions, you forgot to mention very useful buttons in Material Edit tab: "Match color of object in model" and "Match color on screen".
    But anyway, built-in functionality is very limited, especially when dealing with non-planar surfaces.
    I find that really powerful combo is SketchUV + ThruPaint. Having these tools, you can solve most texturing (UV mapping) problems without leaving Sketchup. SketchUV have some bugs, but if you know about them and how to workaround them = you can live with that. But this is the only (except for paid WrapR) tool that really does UV mapping. ThruPaint is very limited in UV mapping.

    how can you save a texture modified in sketchup whose color you have changed? because in lumion he takes the original photo but I want the other color

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  4 года назад

      Well if you're modifying it in Lumion, you'll want to save it in Lumion. If you're modifying it in SketchUp, to save it just make the changes you want then click the little plus button to save it as a new material

    I was wondering when this would come up, wood floors especially 'give away' sketchup drawings immediately, everyone uses the same handful of options. Now we can build a library. There is a stand of giant cedar trees on a mountain next to us. A small sawmill operates there, you can buy the best looking cedar I've ever seen in 1"x11" rough sawn, then planed down to 7/8"x 10" or 11" x lengths up to 18 feet. How do you get an image of that into Sketchup? Just take a picture and use the *.jpg? (then it has to be made fire-resistant to 800 F or so, or used indoors, as we'll be doing)

      @@Thesketchupessentials normally I play around with the RGB and / or brightness slider In the material editor on the toolbar. I save it then when I go to reload it as a new material it shows the original texture colour
