Finally someone reviewed this spf,I tried so many and this one remains my favourite for my sensitive and oily skin 😍 easy to reapply and doesn't pill, yay!! Thank you,I love your reviews 😊
Hello! So about those 3 stars : The Boots Star Rating System - categorizes sunscreens into groups based on their in vitroUVA-PF measurement compared to their SPF measurement. If UVA protection is 60-80% of its SPF it gets three stars, 80-90% gets four stars, and 90% or more is five stars. SPF 30: 3 stars = UVA-PF between 18 and 24 4 stars = UVA-PF between 24 and 27 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 27 SPF 50: 3 stars = UVA-PF between 30 and 40 4 stars = UVA-PF between 40 and 45 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 45 SPF 50+ (SPF 60): 3 stars = UVA-PF between 36 and 48 4 stars = UVA-PF between 48 and 54 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 54

Yoooo thank you so much for this. I appreciate you giving this thorough explanation so much ❤️
YES! I have seen so many people say it is not very protective as they see the 3 stars but this is not true. It is 42 apparently so higher than most American, Asian etc spfs 😂
@@meganfc7094 according to an email I got from Garnier it's actually 46,6, so pretty much higher than any other face sunscreen in this price range afaik?
It's "only" 3 star because it has a really high SPF (ie UVA protection) _as compared to_ UVB, but that's still pretty good. It's same as LRP ultra light fluid. SPF 30: 3 stars = UVA-PF between 18 and 24 4 stars = UVA-PF between 24 and 27 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 27 SPF 50: 3 stars = UVA-PF between 30 and 40 4 stars = UVA-PF between 40 and 45 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 45 SPF 50+ (SPF 60): 3 stars = UVA-PF between 36 and 48 4 stars = UVA-PF between 48 and 54 5 stars = UVA-PF more than 54
I bought this impulsively a week ago and was pretty anxious that it's going to fail me (dry, sensitive, acne prone skin). But to my surprise I have no issues with it at all. No burning, itching, tightening, no redness, nothing. I use it over a moisturizer though, I wouldn't put it directly on the skin, because of my dry skintype. It really doesn't leave a shine or piling. It smells like alcohol, not like sunscreen in my opinion. I like to use it very much, I see myself repurchasing it already.
i could be wrong, but the stars might be the Boots Star rating, in which case the 3/5 is based on the UVB/UVA ratio. so if the SPF UVB is incredibly high, and the UVA is pretty high, it might only be 3/5 in their system.

That makes sense. It’s a different system than I’m generally used to, and I have yet to learn the the EU standards. The other half of my interest just around the fact that they have a some of the best UVA filters in the formulation and it still only has 3 stars, but in terms of ratio, I shouldn’t worry too much I suppose
That's right, Boot's system evaluates the "flatness" of the sunscreen absorption curve. Thus, a sunscreen with an SPF 120 and an UVAPF/PPD 50 will have a lower rating than a sunscreen with an SPF 59 and an UVPF/PPD 40. If the sunscreen follows the European recommendation for UVA protection, it will have a UVA logo (the one with a circle) and this means that the UVAPF/PPD will be at least one third of the SPF value. Thus, UVAPF/PPD is greater than or equal to 10 for an SPF 30, greater than or equal to 16.7 for an SPF 50 and greater than or equal to 20 for an SPF 50+.
This is a great video, super informative and I love your energy and style! And I’m so grateful to see someone review European products. Awesome work, subscribed
Boots 3 stars means that the PPD is between 60%-80% of the SPF. As stated by the packaging the SPF is at least 60 (50+=60 or higher). At an SPF of 60, the PPD of 46,6 would be 77.5% of the SPF, so that checks out. The highest SPF that would still classify this sunscreen as a Boots 3 stars would be around 78(78*0.6≈46,6). The Boots Star system is misleading: A SPF 100 with a PPD of 50 would get a 2 star rating since it’s „only“ 50% of the SPF even both those numbers are ultra high respectively.
I love this sunscreen for my combo sensitive skin, but not for summer. More for fall/winter. I was too shining on my face not in a good way . Maybe i will use it more for my body.
Same, I had to powder it all day. I heard patting it in instead of rubbing helps with making it mattifying. I also tried Frezyderm velvet face SPF and that was a lot less shiny than this one.
I Live in England, sold out in two Boots stores, and online. They say its a dupe for the La roche posay fluid sunscreen. It has raving reviews. This is the one i want to try.
hi :) Can you compare the garnier super uv anti dark spot with the super uv anti-dryness cream? I have combination oily skin and I can't imagine how bright it would be.
I started to use this sunscreen again because I can’t find my go to sunscreen in winter and I was desperately trying to find an alternative. I used this the whole summer for reapplication because I really like the lightweight texture and the packaging is so small and easy to carry with you. I love it! The only problem is that where I live (Croatia) is difficult to find sunscreens for combo-oily skin in winter and I’m really upset about that 😕. I had two bottles of this one because I bought more to reapply during other seasons, this summer I will definitely buy a lot to make my personal stockpile 😄
I saw it has just been available online in an online shopping site so I decided to look up specifically your review and found it! I was a bit surprised by the background music by the way since I'm a reveluv hahaha

It STILL cost more?!? Even at that amount it’s still so affordable to me, considering everything else I use regularly or review frequently, even at only 40 mL. What’re you favorite affordable options?
Omg it made me so oily, it's not at all a dupe for the Shaka fluid for me. I tried it from the very beginning when it went out, but no, it's not for me.
You said you used a quarter tea spoon is that the recommendation amount?

1/4 -1/2 tsp to cover your fave, ears, and neck, yes. The actual measurement this 2mg/cm^2, but the 1/4+ tsp is easier to explain lol. Working it in in 2-3 layers instead of all at once makes it an overall pleasant experience
Does it clog the pores? Cause some sunscreens make my blackheads more or „clog“ them
3 года назад+4
That can get super subjective and personal, but it’s lightweight and matte, and helps control my sebum production, and didn’t exacerbate or give me further breakouts or congestion
@ ah okay thank you so much I am just thinking if I should by the Garnier Fluid one or the new one garnier anti age Spf. What do you think for my skin type where some sunscreens clog my pores ?
The 30 rating is probably okay. BUT, be aware that Alcohol Denat. is the second ingredient on the list. Wish something could be good for oily skin that wasn't so incredibly high in drying damaging Alcohol!
Omg really ? Have acne prone skin so I will not buy :(

I also have very acne prone skin and didn’t have any form of pore clogging or breakouts as a result. Experience is very suggestive. I always just recommend to adequately cleanse skin, especially with water-resistant sunscreens
The UVA rating is about 46, according to the email I got back from Garnier! which is FANTASTIC
Oh wow, that’s insane. I emailed them and they never got back to me lol
Seems to be a dupe of the shaka fluid of la roche posay, more over garnier is owned by loreal lika la roche posay 😉.
PPD 46,6 😎
@@haztt8791 yup!
Does that mean that it is really safe to use (in terms of protecting from photo ageing) despite the packaging saying 3/5 stars?

This sunscreen is not a Boots brand, its Garnier. Its sold in Boots, but its not there brand. They do however have there own sunscreens.
Correct, I don’t believe anyone said it was a Boots brand. But being sold in Boots, it uses their UVA rating system
I have used this sunscreen for a few days now. Today, a rough and tough mechanic friend said "your skin looks really nice!" I'm sold! lol.

You gotta try Frezyderm sunscreens, they're really silicone-y but in a good way, they have a really nice velvet finish like a primer!
