Something to add for Dickinson fans or fans of this album who understand William Blake's influence on it. Blake's gravesite was a mystery for a long time but finally discovered and then a dedication for it was held on August 12, 2018. Bruce Dickinson was a featured speaker. This was the day after Maiden wrapped up a lengthy Legacy of the Beast tour with 2 sold-out shows at the O2 in London on 8/10 and 8/11. I was fortunate enough to be there and blown away by the performance of 6 guys in their 60's, most notably Dickinson. And then there he was the next day at this small gathering. Says a lot about the man. I'm from the States and was only 3 miles away but had no idea it was happening. Too bad. Here's his speech: ruclips.net/video/pdT9SmVEaP4/видео.html&ab_channel=SYLAQ

Yeah this one is one of my favs. How he takes it from medieval style mandolin with hymn lyrics all the way to Heavy Rock and Back. The man is a genius. Actually the whole band deserve credit.

I'd forgotten how powerful this song is... It's a shame heavy metal was considered "passé" in 1998... More people and more Maiden fans should be getting this record 🤘🤘

That’s not Bruce narrating. Its Arthur Brown’s voice! One of your commenters pointed that out in a previous reaction and I was pleasantly surprised!
Check out Arthur Brown’s legendary live performance of Fire back in the day! Singing with a hoop of fire in his head!

The spoken word dialog sprinkled throughout this album is not spoken by Bruce, it's actually Arthur Brown

Delicious! One of my favs! The mandolin and spoken word set up the next song perfectly. The pace of this album is great! This album, like Seventh Son, is best digested front to back in one sitting! Everything fits like a glove!

There's an even folkier version of this song. It was played in a cathedral with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull on the flute. Fully acoustic version and it's definitely worthy to check out. This song to me is right up there with Book of Thel. Perhaps even my favourite. Such a strong album. Cool that you are checking this one out. To me this is easily the best solo album from Bruce but still theres some great stuff in the other ones. Check 'em out!

I commented on your previous reaction for this album, i said the next song(this one) is a masterpiece, best on the album. I said it reminds me knight templars, the crusades etc. Knights kings castles the holy grail swords and shields, old England... love it

Jerusalem is a poem by William Blake which was turned into a hymn, it's a favourite sung in schools across the land. It was also adopted by many as the English national anthem. Bruce has changed it slightly, he explains it in his performance with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, a wonderful acoustic version ruclips.net/video/YTgZatpr1L8/видео.html

England OR UK have plenty of very good options for national anthemn much better than God Save the Queen. (is it the UK or England anthemn btw? It's played before England matches... but I would guess it is not played before Scotland or Wales matches, is it?)

The narator at the end is Arthut Brown. Shock Rock star from the 60s. You should look his video from the song Fire. Bruce always says that he took most of Arthur stage tricks and used them. Next is Trumpets Of Jericho. Thats the opener of the Scream For Me Brazil. You will hear why.

I imagine, when I read through the comments, which I haven’t done yet, that somebody will have pointed out that the spoken word William Blake excerpts are done by the legendary Arthur Brown. If you haven’t seen Arthur Brown’s video for “Fire”, you MUST see that. What an insane video and song. Unforgettable.

BTW There are two Guitarists! Adrian Smith & the amazing Roy-Z who has been the producer for Balls to Picasso, Accident of Birth, The Chemical Wedding, and Tyranny of Souls. I believe he may have inspired Adrian. Basically the other band members are Roy-Z's Tribe of The Gypsies minus the singer. Listen to the Gates of Urizen and The Book of Thel!

You should watch Bruce perform this in the Canterbury Cathedral i England together with Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull. It is a truly chilling experience to listen to Bruce belt this one out in a fucking church with that acoustic. Its a high quality video on youtube. (They also perform parts of Revelations where Bruce sings the intro without the microphone)
