  • Abandoned village of Kayakoy, and a hike to Oludeniz Beach (Blue Lagoon) near Fethiye Turkey!
    In this video we are hiking a trail with some incredible views to explore and see for ourselves if Oludeniz Beach (The Blue Lagoon) is as breathtaking in real life as it is on all the holiday brochures! We are discovering a hidden beach on the way and the abandoned village (Kayakoy), which has a very interesting history and atmosphere about it!

    In the early 1960s I was in Turkey. It is amazing to see how the country has grown. Nothing can compare with the Roman influence and the Biblical Ephesus. I only comment if I watch 100% of a video :)

    Nice video... If still in the area, you should hit up Kabak Koyu. You are close to it now. The bus you took back after the tea, instead of taking it left back to your place, take it right. Nice hikes there too. You can even check out part of the Lycian Way.

    Enjoyed your latest video in Turkey. You ended by saying you were taking the bus home. It would be interesting to see that too; how do you pay for the bus and so on. What's your experience with ATM's? Is there a hamam in the town and it's cost compared to Istanbul. I realize you may not be going to a hamam but could mention it nonetheless.

    • @MattandJulia
      @MattandJulia  3 года назад

      We have done an entire video on bus travel in Turkey :)
      In terms of ATM's they are everywhere in the towns and cities, and usually you get a choice of about 8/9 languages to use them in. All very efficient.
      We aren't using Hammams whilst here, and because our videos are more about our day to day lives on the road and what we are doing, as opposed to more just 'travel guides' we haven't included the price for them in any videos.

    11:14 You can see the face statue of ATATURK formed on the left side of the mountain: Turkish field marshal, revolutionary statesman, author, and the founding father of the Republic of Turkey, serving as its first president from 1923 until his death in 1938. He undertook sweeping progressive reforms, which modernized Turkey into a secular, industrial nation.

      @@MattandJulia its being said that people who travel the world have a different view on life than before they started. Now seeing this, were lots of people lived before and nature is taking over now. Walking and breathing nature were there used to be civilization has to make an impact in your persona and I wonder about that impact. And this is something that probably you guys can answer in a couple years, sit down and think how you guys were a couple years back and compare it to who you are now (in a couple years) you guys have an experience that 90% of humanity haven't and never will most likely. That changes you. On a humorous note, we will start having comercial space flight probably in our life time, imagine how your view in life will change after you see the world from outer space. I'm just over thinking this but is a nice hobby a engage from time to time haha.

    • @MattandJulia
      @MattandJulia  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I think for sure travel changes you, it definitely gives you a better understanding of how others live, and, 100% that not everything (in fact hardly anything) you see on the news about a place and it's people is true. Beyond the differences in language, religion, race etc people across the world are pretty much the same and want the same things from life.
      Events, such as those that occurred in Kayakoy (and more broadly between Greece and Turkey) are certainly hard to understand and imagine. This part of the World has seen so much continuous change for thousands of years.
      In terms of the space flight, now that would 1000% change someone right? I guess to see how insignificant and small we, and our world, really are would definitely put things in to perspective xx
