@Teddy Holiday performed in the JT Tour. My favourite from the tour.
@Teddy Holiday They performed it on the 2017 JT tour but in a much lower key so that Bono could sing it in his mid-50s without dying. :D Even 27-year-old Bono couldn't sing this live. It's an epic song with the most voice-shredding chorus ever. Love it!

This has always been my fav on Joshua Tree!!! I got the radio station to play it when doing the Joshua tree concert comp, they were blown away. Why it didn't make it as a single I'll never know, great cover guys

I remember when Joshua Tree came out and people were raving about the "hits." But after multiple listens, this song just stuck with to this day. And Mike does it justice!

When I stumbled upon Mike years ago, I came to this video and immediately went to the official U2 video of this and invited everyone to come witness a better version. Had this been a record I would have needed a new needle I have listened to this so much.

I heard this years ago and wrote to Mike that if I was still in the radio Business I would make him famous. This was after hearing this version. Still my favorite of his and he's famous without my help.

Your singing is so natural and clear that people may not get how hard this chorus actually is, i am so jealous of you now, in a good way tho. I know this is an old comment, but keep working on it. I remember very well when I younger (like around 18 or 19) not being able to sing this, and wondering just how the heck Bono could hit those notes. I can assure you that you can increase your range if you keep working at it. I was so glad when I was finally able to sing this--but granted, it's still never easy.

Matheus Magalhães it is really hard, i used to reach the highs about 30 years ago, now i can only sing it very low key, really, you can't blame Bono for not singing this high nowadays.

I often go and give this one a re-listen.
Still so impressive for the vocals. The music live back tracks were so solid they were checked and without guarantees can tell you the video is one of those magic events.
This may have been one of those times in an artist’s life where they tear open a vein and let a little blood pour out and onto a canvas.

I love the idea of you're just randomly going for pizza and come across these guys totally knocking it out of the park.
Believe it or not, you did a better job playing this song live than U2 did on the opening night of the Joshua Tree Tour 2017 in Vancouver, BC a couple nights ago. Was looking forward to hearing RHMT live for the first time ever, yet when they rolled out the version that favoured The Edge on keyboard, prerecorded brass accompaniment and the key changed to accommodate Bono's vocals I was sorely disappointed. This is exactly how I wished they played it. Bravo!
jjwankenobi i was in Seattle a couple nights after and it wasnt much better. Wish they had had their chops ready. Bono couldnt hit high notes. He had to restart Elevation toward the end of the show. And because he sucked on it he gave us I Will Follow at the very end. Overall pretty good but like you, I was disappointed on this song. One of my favs.
To be fair, Bono is pushing 60 and has been touring relentlessly for 40 odd years. His voice has been abused a hell of a lot more over the years than Mike's. You can't expect him to sound the same as he did when he was younger or to hit those high notes.

Here's what gets me with Mike's covers: He leaves it all on stage. So many of the covers are in my all-time favorite songs. The covers are a perfect mix of talent, homage, and that the music is what is most important.
