Yeah i'm super disappointed with the image quality and sharpness. Not sure if its the lens or the censor but some of those shots are not acceptable in this day and age. That shot of the bird was wildly out of focus. Why show it?
Keep in mind this video is from 2018, and this is a PowerShot camera with a built-in (all-in-one) lens. We aren't told how far away the bird was, so that could have been a factor in the soft image.

I have 2 previous head injuries so comprehending is not my strong point. If I set the settings in menu to manual focus, then all I have to do is use the rotating ring on top of the camera, am I correct? So what you are saying, is EVERY TIME I want to take a photo in the MANUAL Focus mode, I have to use the rotating dial? If I was taking a picture of an eagle jumping off a limb, I wouldn't have time to use the rotating dial.
Hi, Raymond! Manual focus will require you to adjust the focus yourself. If you decide you want to focus on something other than the eagle or if the eagle's distance from the camera changes, you'll need to make those focus adjustments yourself or else your focus won't be where you want it. We designed our autofocus systems to be both accurate and fast, allowing the camera to get proper focus in a fraction of the time that it takes most human beings to do it, so if you're unsure about doing it yourself or you don't want to be caught off guard, it would be best to turn on the autofocus and let the camera worry about it. This camera has a weird image processing once you take a photo, it's like a smooth filter that makes every photo look a bit blurry and soft. I tried switching to raw or going into the camera settings but I coultn't turn it off. I hope someone reading this knows a solution for this issue, it makes the camera inusable for me.

Hi, Ayan! The PowerShot SX70 HS has an optical zoom of 65x. That's the maximum magnification provided by the lenses within the camera. Once that maximum is reached, the ZoomPlus feature can digitally magnify the image by up to 2 additional times. So if you take 65 and double it, the camera has the equivalent of a 130x zoom via ZoomPlus. Hope that helps!

The SX70 is a good camera but the image quality from the 20 megapixel sensor is not as good as your older 12 megapixel sensor in the SX50. Fine details at low ISO are not great and things get very smudge as the ISO rises. If you brought out an SX80 which had a sensor as good as or better than the SX50's 12 megapixel sensor I'd buy it.

Change the setting to program and then you can change the image quality to super fine and you can adjust the sharpness
