Watched an interview where Andrew said he doesn't do metal due to how much he loves and respects it. And how sacred it is to fans. So you know if he's going to release a metal track, its getting all his attention and love put into it. He killed it. Absolutely showed that he can sit right up there with the best of em. His passion for what he does is damn near unrivaled. Been a fan of his whole career. Dude is special.

This is great! He was probably the nicest guy I’ve ever had the pleasure to work a show for. He spent over an hour after the show talking to fans and signing things for people with only one security escort(me) and was completely comfortable and humble and thankful for the praise
Once at a show in Manchester I made an Instagram post while waiting for the show to start and he commented on it almost immediately from backstage in a humble and considered way, or wasn’t just stock commenting. 100% agree he is a wonderful and genuine guy.
Def a nice guy. I crowed surfed my way up to the front and he grabbed my hand to save me from dropping, pulled me on stage and handed me a water gun to squirt at the crowd. Dude fkn rules.

I can say that this is 100% true. I went to Vans Warped Tour back in 03, and went to get his autograph. He spent over an hour signing, and then saw me and a bunch of others in the back of the line looking kind of bummed out that we might not get to meet him. He brought everyone up from the back and then made sure we all got to meet him. When he asked my named, I told him, and he started to spell it 'Steven'. I didn't even say anything and he stops writing and asks me " is it with a PH or a V?" And I just kind of shrugged it off and said "it's with a PH, but it's not a big deal man!". He then crumples up the paper and grabs one of his own little papers from behind his chair, and then writes out "To: Stephen. If we're not going to try and do it right, we shouldn't even bother! Thank you very much! Stick with me! Party hard! Your friend, Andrew WK." I still have it framed next to my bed with a four leaf clover I found that day. Always gives me motivation.

The whole thing started with the “Steev Mike” drama and basically there was a gray area over who actually owned the intellectual and appearance rights of the character “Andrew W.K.” but the person Andrew Wilkes-Krier is and has always been the same person. This is a case of people hearing an internet rumor based on half-truths and falsehoods and repeat it blindly. It gets resurrected every time he puts out something new.

@@michaeldebidart That whole drama in itself is crazy even without the argument of swapping the person. I remember first reading about that after Close Calls album came out and had more of this sound rather than I Get Wet / The Wolf. It's just crazy to see that again popping up 15 years later.

Incredible song, but there's a certain lyric that I think people may be getting wrong. Well, not exactly wrong per se, but there's a double entendre in the second verse. After Andrew sings Persephone(x3) the lyric "to err is divine" (an obvious reference to Alexander Pope) can ALSO be read as "to Eris, divine", as in the Greek Goddess of Discord. This is especially apparent since he earlier sang about "the lover of chaos and strife", with Eris being known as a popular god of chaos and Eris being literally the word Strife in ancient Greek. She was also called a goddess of war by Homer. The real proof is in the music video, where this lyric is accompanied by Andrew holding a golden apple, which Eris famously threw in to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, leading to an argument among the gods that resulted in the Trojan war. Just thought I'd share since I didn't see many people picking up on this!

I met him years ago at a show in support of the I Get Wet album, and he is still, to this day, the nicest, kindest, most compassionate person I’ve ever met. A little personal story for anyone interested in reading, I remember in highschool I was one of the few "metal" guys who liked Andrew W.K. I was instantly a fan when I saw a live video of party hard, I was like "this guy seriously loves music. I don't care his vocals kinda suck, this is metal as fuck."
Now fast forward some 20 years and he releases something like this that is legitimately metal as fuck. I can't believe he wrote something like this given the vast majority of his work is somewhere between pop and punk.

Anyone else notice the references to Destroy Build Destroy, the show he hosted on Cartoon Network? The flashing logos looked like the logo for the show, plus another that looked like the classic cartoon network logo. Watched that show like crazy when I was a kid, didn't discover his music till years later, first was "Music is Worth Living For", and I have been hooked since.

Something makes me think they're all 9 out of 393. It's either that or you happened to get an exceptionally rare disc and if you brought it to AWK himself he would probably recognize it as being insanely special numerologically significant 93/93. But you might want to ask around other people who have the same disc on a forum and see what they say they have as their serial number out of 393.

Remember the first time hearing Party Hard going to my first "real job" at 9am in the morning in Baltimore. Where did the years go? So many memories from the music, to his blogs, to Steev Mike etc.
I was listening to some good ol 90s music and Party Hard came on..I was like on sh*t I remember this track and decided to look Andrew up..glad to see he's still rocking white and making music!

My interpretation of the theme is two parts of himself, the pain and the joy, and how they're not necessarily incompatible at all, how everyone has these parts, and how self expression (particularly as an adult, when we have to work at often awful jobs and have to pay bills and have tons of stress etc) needs to come out in whatever form it does--whether laughing, being goofy, skipping around a grocery store (I did this earlier in the week), sobbing, punching pillows...it's about being ALIVE and FEELING what adults need to feel to get through without destroying ourselves. Often as a kid a lot of us got to experience joy and feeling invulnerable and didn't take life seriously at all. As adults most of us have to cope with the things I mentioned above, and we forget (or it gets beaten out of us by society etc) that we can be joyous and spontaneous and act silly. Joy shaming is actually a real thing...some people think that because the world is so messed up we're not supposed to be joyous or playful.
We spend too much time being beaten down by the world. It's time we helped ourselves and others by example: non-destructive self expression, kindness, and embracing all of who we are. This is very difficult for me and a lot of people. But we can learn.
