It always surprises me how much speed is attainable without dashes in this game

this is nuts. does screen transitioning actually give you more height at 0:33 because if so what i thought I knew about celeste means nothing

@@curs3dspirit screen transitions reset your subpixel position to the middle of the pixel so if you enter the transition at the bottom of a pixel you gain half a pixel in height

so this is just a lot of wallboosted dcbs with crouched cornerslips?
also it seems like madeline has a dash as indicated by her red auburn hair i think there's definitely room for improvement there
pretty cool tas overall but could have used more of the game's intended mechanics to save time

It looks like a puzzle map designed to be beaten dashless. With dashes, even an intermediate player could skip 90% of the level's intended challenges.

the challenge is to beat it w/ 0 dashes, yes

It probably has Prologue inventory; there are plenty of modded where it is impossible to dash despite not having your hair be blue

@@warriorsabe1792Surprisingly not -- this level inherited the gimmick of an earlier TAS puzzle I made called "Dash Trials" where you get unlimited usage of the dash button but *can* and are encouraged to complete in 0 dashes. That level was helped mechanically by that because each room had some gimmicky gameplay that was basically a TAS knowledge check, so it ensured you could TAS the rest of the map if you just failed one part. The gameplay here starts off unreasonable at a movement level and gets more unreasonable, so the gimmick is more of an aesthetic than anything. The level doesn't care about dash usage, only the people who play it.
