This is one of their most fun tracks. They have some great ones. They also get real weird. Totally avante garde.
They are a 60s band. Morrison died in 71. "The End" is amazing but very very different. If you do it be prepared for some 60s weirdnes. Some other hits of theirs are "Break on Through", "Love me two times", "Touch me", "Light my Fire" and "LA Woman", just to name a few. Big songs.

    • @daveking9393
      @daveking9393 4 года назад

That is a great way to put it 60s weirdness. if people don't understand that Jim Morrison the lead singer wrote The poetry and then the band had to fit / write the music to it....
it helps to also understand the psychedelic era and that a lot of people did a lot of acid back then so sometimes it really made sense in a trippy kind of way...

All Rock and Roll is based on the Blues dude. The Blues chords and structure IS the back bone of Rock and Roll. The more you listen to Rock music the more you will notice there are blues influences in damn near every single song. The Blues is everything dude.....EVERYTHING!! Great reaction I just love watching you get introduced to this kind of stuff. You are musically knowledgable and can comprehend and understand what you are hearing. Good Stuff!!

I think there is a bit of country influence, too. Chuck Berry sounds less blues than this song by The Doors. Berry and the rockabilly genre are closer than Berry is to this IMO

    • @TheDevilsBusiness

This is generally true but the Doors used Bassa Nova, noise making with new tech, Flamenco (Spanish Caravan is like The Lyenda) just all over the place. In the end everything including The Blues is based on Dorian Classical theory which is why it all fits together.

Rock is based on the blues. It is double 4 time with attitude. To my mind blues is double 4 time with feeling or even heart break. Only really the progressive rock genre deviated from that to any real extent. the best of that genre is the Pink Floyd who messed around with the timing signatures of their music even doing one of their most beautiful and best known pieces in 3 - 4 time ie waltz time. Shine on you crazy diamond. About CidBarrett.

If only I could give you an extra thumbs up for your "🎵 SAVE OUR CITY!!! 🎵" 👏👏👏
Man, I'm tellin' ya straight out... you're in for a trip! You don't just listen to The Doors; you EXPERIENCE them. You liked this? Keep on digging. They have a LOT of GOOD SCHITT! All different, but all uniquely "Doors." The most requested Doors reactions aren't always the best, but most are. The Doors are hard blues, they're psychedelic, and everything in between. Laid back blues, a few ballads, jazz...yeah, even a little pop... They're all over the place, musically, but you still always know it's the The Doors, and almost all of it will trip you out.
They're, by far, my favorite band. I've never seen a Doors fan, including myself, be able to express the effect of their music in down-to-earth terms, so
keep digging in to The Doors. You're in for a trip. A great trip, but with a peculiar darkness to it. You'll get what us Doors freaks have been screaming about, all these years!
You'll dig the schitt out of it!
    Break on Through

One thing you'll notice about the Doors is that they did not have a bass player. Ray held down the bass on his organ. (The only recording where they had a bass was on their last album, "L.A. Woman".) The lack of a bass was what gave them their unique, dreamy, slightly unreal sound, unlike any other band of the time.

[bleeping] tragedy, is what it was. It hurts the spirit to think what the Doors might've made if he'd sobered up and gotten his head on straight.

Jim never got old; he didn't have to be old, fat Elvis. He will always be the God of Rock: look at how many people he influenced (by their own admission). To me the way he went was how he wanted to go. He would have HATED what music has become. Auto-tune, 100$ a pop for a concert; he was a radical in the '60s, now he'd just be a hermit. I have an original poster from a concert at the Hollywood Bowl; 4$. Times have changed!🎶🎸🎹

@@leila7132 Most musicians of talent and skill hate Autotune; that's meaningless. And Elvis's passing was a tragedy too-- it hurts to think what *he* might've been capable of if he'd had better management and managed to get sober.

@@darastarscream I agree with you. I just think Jim had a fascination with death and he was ready to go. But if you like Elvis, and who doesn't; check out the movie: The King, directed by Eugene Jarecki. It's pretty new and I enjoyed it.😎
