I've watched waffle house make their hashbrowns and they def spoon on some melted margarine to get the hashbrowns golden brown without those burnt spots.
Yes they do!
its melted butter/butter flavored oil

Thanks so much @BasedVidya
because he doesn't mention jalapenos
Followed your instructions, thank you! I finally did it. I used Simply potatoes in cast iron, but I used half butter half oil and salt and peppered the pan b4 putting in hash, it cane out burnt.
SO THEN:
I followed recipe in a non stick copper skillet.. kinda..
Butter and oil, sautéed onion with S&P.. removed them.
Added more butter and oil on med-hi heat, add S&P on pan before adding "Simply" potatoes to season both sides.. added in potatoes and turned my heat down to medium heat 30 seconds or less after I flipped them using my large wide pancake spatula
and finished off the recipe with onion and cheese.
Came out better than cast iron and better than waffle house!
Thanks for the tips, I've tried for yrs to make these and miserably failed
BREAKFAST TIME HASH BROWNS
Years ago when I worked at WH we had different levels. My favorite was always ‘The big sloppy’ smothered, covered diced and chunked. Hash browns onions peppers, ham and bacon, topped with gravy, cheese and a sloppy egg (over easy) and hot salsa on the side. A biker that came through ordered and named it in our little town. And he wasn’t wrong, 💯 on point!
I have always ordered my sausage bowls with onions and gravy, no one understands how good the gravy makes it.
Great video!!! Thanks!
This was exquisitely crafted, thank you!
Amazing video. I enjoyed watching it! Great job
Dude this is such a high quality and good video! Keep it up you are doing amazing 😊
Best hash browns on the planet
Ive watched many hash brown potatoes videos but this video is different scattered and covered this a terrific i liked this video please keep doing however your videos helpful for everyone thanks.
I love the Waffle House hash browns and I havnt been able to re-create them at home. So I checked RUclips and BLAM there you are !!! Thanks for sharing.
Back in my 20s (im 36 now), waffle house was my hang over cure and my night ender. So glad i found this vid!
Same here around the same time frame. lol
The good ol' days...
Thank you so much I finally rock my hash thanks to your video. Switching material and definitely higher heat😊 thx again.
I'm a big fan of adding cubed or diced ham. Great video.
Hash browns are basically the only thing I get at Waffle House. Love mine capped, too.
I'll be making this for the roommates breakfast next week no doubt! I loved the salsa verde touch we tried on xmas too. Keep the vids comin! Killah!
well done. this is the best hash brown video ive found
Thanks Jim!
I know what I’m making this weekend! Looks yummy!
Thanks a lot Dawn!
Broooo you’re so underated
OMG Unbelievable. Great job!
Mine always take way too long to cook.
Great video but one important thing that Waffle House does is drop a dollop of unmelted butter on the griddle right and then put the uncooked hash browns on top of the butter. This helps with the browning and the crunchy texture.
WH uses butter flavored oil and dehydrated potatoes
Looks great. I like the chili on these too with some Tabasco sauce 😜
That's great Mike!
I was a vegetarian for 15 years & live in Hawaii I recently decided to move to Virginia for better opportunities w/ education & around the same time I decided to start eating meat. My bf said we absolutely have to go to Waffle House I love hash browns so I was all in… let me tell you… my body went into some kind of high I’m not even kidding. I had the meat sweats & damn it was good. The closest one is abojt 40 min away so I don’t go often but I do often think abojt their hashbrowns I get hash brown bowl w/ egg cheese & bacon & a side waffle! Ty for the recipe I’m gonna make it at home haha
I love hash browns
Nice, but how do they get them soft and fluffy in the middle? Almost like parboil first or something.
I love #wafflehouse scattered & covered, this looks so good. I really don’t need my hash with any other cheese than the OG cheese, but to each their own.
Preach it, @youroxstar !
I tried this a few years back and it was an epic failure!!! Thanks to your video, I successfully made it today!!!
People hate on American cheese but that stuff was made to be melted!
Scattered, smothered, and chunked.
Oil, butter, or that Golden Griddle that fake liquid butter flavored griddle oil. ( 4 ingredients ) ore ida potato+ 10 more ingredients.
Amaz
Not me looking up this recipe with a bag of simply potatoes 😅
Make more videos!!!
Decades ago, I worked at a wafflehouse. The potatoes for the hashbrowns came in dehydrated, we reconstituted them before each shift. I'd much rather make my own using freshly shredded or even from frozen.
Waffle house sauce needs a how to video
Looks good but I can’t just eat this without some sausages eggs and pancakes or something lmao
I'm sorry, but anybody putting Swiss cheese on these is a monster
We like pretty much any type of cheese -- but default back to American Singles for this recipe most every time.
I like extra sharp cheddar when I make it at home.
@@rapa2894 Good stuff!
😋
I’ll have the eggs in the Age of Enlightenment
No Waffle House grills the onions. They are mixed in and cook while the hash browns are cooking.
Fresh shredded always the best. Don't do the frozen and they cook quicker
Waffle House takes less than 10 minutes to cook their hashbrowns….
This may be good for home, but you will never make it at Waffle House as a short order cook having to take more than 15 minutes for hash browns. Go there some time and time the cooks.
You forgot the HAM Smothered covered and chunked
Chunked is OK, but I usually get my WH swine in bacon form!
now the knife is $36 on Amazon fyi
Cheese does not belong on hashbrowns usually. I would not like that.
You’d be surprised, this is just the standard of toppings for a waffle house hash brown “scattered, smothered, and covered)
Only use real cheese
P
Bad PR for simply potatoe... hope they dont try to get you banned or canceled😅🤣
I gave it the college try with the Simply Potatoes for years -- I really did! They aren't terrible -- but they are hard to work with. They can easily become gummy. It's just easier and cheaper to use the frozen ones.
Frozen hash browns are just nasty. If done at medium to high heat potatoes shredded do work correctly. They need to be dry and a tablespoon of flour added. JS 💕
Okay so I have a few problems with this video the first one being it feels like you're trying to sell me on certain products and secondly it's not cooking if you're just using things from Frozen that you're just reheating
On a pan.
If you're going to make a 7 minute long video then show people how to do it the correct way instead of trying to sell them on something using affiliate links to Amazon
Waffle House hash brown are made in less than 4 minutes. Just sayin'.
Their griddle stays hot, all ingredients right in front of them, and a cook has each step down to a science. But, the only disadvantage I see? Their hash brown potatoes come in dehydrated, get reconstituted before each shift.
I don't think WH takes 30 mins to make HB. Lousy video
Slow down there! Waffle House uses dehydrated hash browns. Your hash browns are just regular shredded potatoes. I hate to be harsh, but Waffle House is serious business. You've committed an egregious act of journalistic and culinary malpractice.
