Rev matching is for people who can't drive. No wonder Toyota has it... So is automatic gearboxes. I ordered this blind. The three things I didn't like with the Mk 7 was the hard suspension, the high seating and the 90's interior. All that has been remedied in the Mk 8. I know I will love this car.
There is no doubt the 5 door would get more sales. But I hope they do bring in the 3door for it's reduced weight and higher chassis torsional rigitity, for true hot hatch fundamentals.
When you said at the end "sadly, no automatic" then I realised I made a mistake thinking you were an genuine automotive reporter. BTW, my grandma drives an auto..... maybe you and her should hang out together.
The mechanical front lsd is a huge addiction. Happy they made that change for the new gen. Not sure why Matt is asking for an automatic box in this given how problematic the automatic transmission was in the prior gen Fiesta. I guess to each there own.
Surprised only 8.1 It's the best car in its category and just about as good as any supermini hot hatch is ever likely to be, i'm not sure what car would achieve a higher score.
If you need rev matching, go buy the Corolla. What a ridiculous thing to say that's missing from a hot hatch that's supposed to be made for actual drivers.
Hope they fix the clutch friction point though, my 15 Fiesta St is harder to find the biting point compare to the CIVIC FN2R, though it has better steering and more balanced chassis compare to FN2 stiff but "not good at corner" suspension
Would you change a Fiesta ST200 (MK7) to the new ST (MK8)? It's that I got a ST200 and I'm thinking about doing an upgrade/changing it. But as the ST200 is already great I ask myself if it's really necessary or worth it. What do you think?
I think the ST 200 is a bit special. I have driven both and own a MK8. There’s not much between it performance wise. The ST 200 will go down as more of a classic I think but for everyday driveability and cabin comfort the new car is a big step up. The 3 cylinder makes a better noise when pushed hard as well 👍
Funnily enough, everyone that tested this car in Europe actually thought it was quite a stiff riding car. As for the real life economy....nowhere near the claimed 6 l/100 km. I actually drove the 125 HP version. It's got a really fun character to it. Too small interior space though.
I have the 2014 ST and Love it, I was looking forward to buying one but Ford decided to stop selling all of its cars here in the US, only pick ups SUVs and crossovers, the only Car will be the Mustang, I’m 70 years old and love driving on 3 Wheels, when I’m gone I hope some your Tuner Kid gets my Car, there a Blast to Drive.
Let's start a letter-writing or telephone-calling campaign to Ford United States to tell them we want the all-new Focus and Fiesta Hatchback with 6 speed Manual Transmission cars to be sold in the U.S. Tell them they've made a terrible mistake in not bringing these cars to the U.S. market. Please join me in this effort! Let's convince them to change course and offer us these great hatchbacks. Thank you.
Daniel LeRoux That’s a tough one: Us wanting the cars vs. actually putting the money where our mouths are was probably the reason the ST cars are going away. I’ve also noticed that a lot of fellow ST owners bought theirs used, which also didn’t count in the cars’ favor statistically.
Thank you Patrick, I think you're probably right. But how about the Fiesta ST? That car is really in a class all by itself, since there's no VW Polo GTI in the U.S.
Henry Liao, Yes, and bringing the new ST (Fiesta and/or Focus) to the U.S. will encourage new buyers to come test drive the cars at the dealership, as well as current owners looking to trade-up to the latest model. It's really a win-win for Ford and ST enthusiasts to bring the all-new models to the U.S. They are the best cars in their classes in terms of fun-to-drive factor and value for the money, not to mention their great looks. I'm sure Ford can turn a profit on these cars as long as they keep their supply in line with demand.
"Sadly no automatic", did you really just say that? It's a driver's car built for winding b roads. We don't need an automatic or rev matching, we need a good driver's car and that's exactly what this looks to be. If I wanted an auto option and boring rev matching then I'd buy a car that pretty much drives itself. Edit... Purchased this car brand new and it's an absolutely brilliant car.
Lern to drive and the auto rev matching will not bother you. The fiesta st is no doubt the best car money can buy. I think that there is not another car under 40000 euro as good as fiesta st in the fun driving car.
Found On Roadside Ditch axed this car. Too bad, it was my favorite car to buy.... if it wasn;t so cheapass interior. My Speed3 would crush this little car.

dmeticsux I prefer the mk7 personally I like tougher suspension and the mk7 looks so much better, right now I have the mk6 though
The mk8 has a bad rep for reliability. Mk7 has good powertrain reliability at least.
@@TheFreshPeddler where have you heard about the bad reliability?
There is no doubt the 5 door would get more sales. But I hope they do bring in the 3door for it's reduced weight and higher chassis torsional rigitity, for true hot hatch fundamentals.
who wants rev matching? it takes away one of the joys of driving. I'm glad the new one doesn't have it.
Looooooney its nice sound wise ;)
In the i30n you can deactivate it. So it's up to you if you want it or not. That's a clever solution.
When you said at the end "sadly, no automatic" then I realised I made a mistake thinking you were an genuine automotive reporter. BTW, my grandma drives an auto..... maybe you and her should hang out together.

Because matt is oldman....
Matt is 33, actually. And Australian buyers are 90 per cent auto...
Surprised only 8.1

*lol, complaining about no rev matching. Might as well complain why it's not auto.*
haha that's what I was thinking. That's a plus point for people who enjoy driving
If you need rev matching, go buy the Corolla. What a ridiculous thing to say that's missing from a hot hatch that's supposed to be made for actual drivers.
Great pocket rocket car with reasonable price. I ordered one for february 2021 :) Greetings from Poland ;)
is the Ford fiesta st 2018 and 2019 the same thing?🤔
Hope they fix the clutch friction point though, my 15 Fiesta St is harder to find the biting point compare to the CIVIC FN2R, though it has better steering and more balanced chassis compare to FN2 stiff but "not good at corner" suspension

Mike Chavez Cheers man :)
Mike Chavez import it :)
A W I don’t think it can be done because of the emissions are different here or I would.
Mike Chavez don't worry people will import it and sell it brand new in the us
Mike Chavez they import us cars and sell them here in Europe ? So why not in the us ?
The biggest question is who has approved the rear lights...?
How did you end up in winter?

I think a campaign to bring most of the focus line could be successful and one i would like to be involved in. the fiesta? no not gonna happen.
Thank you Patrick, I think you're probably right. But how about the Fiesta ST? That car is really in a class all by itself, since there's no VW Polo GTI in the U.S.

It is not fair that America is not getting the Fiesta or Focus. I think it is a mistake. They can take out all the other cars but not those 2!!!
is it gonna be a special tunning for oz road, like hyundai i30N?
Strange to see the steering wheel on the left side for you
It look so good wow
Umm does the front 3/4 profile look like a Suzuki Swift Sport, or is it just me??
5:28 is the car available in orange or is that red?
How's the 5-door? Pictured at the end but no inside shots.
It's decent. Back seat is a bit sparse, but inherently more practical.
Only manual. Top stuff. 👍👍👍
Lov it i want one!

No Rev Match is a good thing.. please turn it off on my M2!!
A massive fan of three cylinder engines? No wonder you guys have lost so many freedoms.
00:47 such acting much wow
Who the hell is a fan of 3cyl engines???
Did they make you say that?
Do they have your children?
Say you want an automat to confirm please!
Matt owns two three-cylinder cars - a Mini Cooper 2017 five-door hatch and a 2013 Volkswagen up! five-door hatch. He likes three-cylinder engines.
isnt it 2018 not 2019 lol?
Not down under. They get it in 2019. The US don't get it at all. Strange choice by Ford...
yeah i assumed once i heard its about australian market... well im hopefully buying mine this year :) useful to live in europe for a change :D
Why would you want a auto ln a hot hatch they are pants
ST MK7 tutta la vita... questa è ridicola

tigerbalm good enjoy your speed 3 don't touch this car with your dirty hands
