honestly i can see how they're both not wrong? one side prioritizes honesty & sincerity while the other prioritizes talent & flawlessness. be perfect to be someone the audience can look up to or be imperfect to be someone the audience can connect with. i think both are great ways to attract fans tbh

@@youredumb2992 Theyre not saying they aren’t sincere, it’s just the emphasis. Most Japanese idols are debuted with little to no training because the improvement process and relatability are the most important factors for them. Idols in japan are more entertainers who can sing and dance while idols in Korea are more singers and dancers who can entertain if that makes sense. The Japanese idol industry is also not as unified as Korea where you can see the pattern of how much a group should train. There are other Japanese idol groups that dance and sing really well and then there are groups like AK that focus more on the fan service part.

No, the J-contestant in Produce48 only performed simple dance saying its J-Pop idol concept. what the heck!!! Their Senpais back then could performed far more sophisticated dances and I would say they could shine with their own charm rivaling to K-Pop. Early AKB48 also had some subunit functioning as girlbands such as NO3B/No Sleeves, 'Not-Yet', Team Dragon, and many more. IDK why those trainees performed like that, may be it was scripted. For example Look at Nako, she performed a stupid Banana song when her ability was actually far greater than that so she got assigned to class F, later in Class F she showed an 'A' class ability, thus she was transferred to class A. Another case, Hitomi performed Korean song then assigned to class C, proving her dance ability as 'A', then she trained her vocal for a while then transferred to class A. What is this? A drama? A Propaganda? Marketing Scheme?

Very interesting and enlightening. As someone who lived 25 years in Korea and 10 years in Japan, the cultural differences are clear and well presented here. Westerners have some cockeyed idea that Japan and Korea are very similar culturally but that is an opinion based on ignorance. They are very different cultures even though, far back, they come from the same roots. Thank you for uploading this.

That occupation played a very significant role in the division of Korea into North and South, as well. Finally, I find that many Japanese feel they are superior to Koreans and don't even bother trying to hide it.

@sash587 that’s just the Japanese though because the youth could careless about history. Korea is a very prideful country. Even though they are hypocrites and use Japanese things/culture, the resentment is still rooted in their youth because of the politics and history between Korea and Japan. I have Korean friends who refuse to use Japanese brands or talk about Japanese things. It’s ridiculous but I can understand why they feel the way they do. I’m sure it’s easier for the Japanese to forget because they weren’t the ones who suffered horrifically.

I think a balance between the both cultural approaches it's what makes the perfect girl group, that's why I love Twice and NiziU, because both groups were formed showing the growth of the memebers, later perfecting them but withouth loosing their joy, personalities and vulnerability, in my opinion that's the winning formula to blend these two amazing countries. I love Korea and Japan and I love when something blends both togetherm always results in something great, without going any further idol culture started in Japan and then was adopted by Korea and perfected, so I really think Jpop is a lot more similar that what they actually adress to Kpop and is a whole world outside AKB48, is just that Jpop is not exported because they don't need it, Japan is the 2nd biggest music market just behind the USA and yes, Japan LOVES Kpop, but Kpop NEEDS Japan.

Both philosophies are right, idols should strive to improve their skills but also show that they enjoy being on stage because that makes fans enjoy performances as well.
Some idols feel almost robotic on stage and literally only stare into the camera and as a fan I just wonder what the heck am I supposed to be feeling?? They may be such good singers and dancers but if they don't evoke emotion from fans then all that talent and skill kinda becomes meaningless.
But then, only focusing and enjoying a performance and neglecting skill can make an idol group feel very amateur and people may doubt why someone is an idol if they can't sing or dance. So always working to improve on their singing and dancing skill builds a professional image and fans trust the idols.
I believe both cultures can learn from each other and inspire each other.

    • @ilovewritingessays2017
      @ilovewritingessays2017 9 месяцев назад +1

Kpop has plenty of emotions in their performances. The idea that being a skilled performer takes away from that is an actual asinine take. They stare into the camera, so you can't feel emotions anymore? What kind of logic is that? I'd say it's the opposite, because the effort that it takes to becoming a competent performer will breed stronger emotions. And the member count is another thing. How are you suppose to convince me that a hundred girls that dresses and acts the same way somehow evokes more emotions then a group of 5 girls that all have their unique roles and are dressed individually? I'd say these 48 groups are the ones that feel robotic if anything.

I think the "difference" was just and an excuse or propaganda. J-Standard is very diverse, even if its like "Cute" like they said but there are still more of them. The problem is that AKB48 was originally theatrical based group, performing like that is suicidal (could only give them "E" or "F"). for example Nako-Miku performed Banana Song. The heck- Oh My God., Produce48 wanted to make Iz*One not SOUL48 so they should perform non-theatrical based choreo. Mako team, Hitomi team, Noe team, Miyu team didn't perform AKB48 song and Jurina and Sakura changed/adjusted/modified from 48G choreo. Thus they could got "D" until "A".
Just For reference as an example they could've performed song/choreo like NO3B/No Sleeves-Title "Kirigirisu Jin". or from 'Not-Yet'-title : "Shumatsu Not Yet".
Both NO3B and Not Yet were AKB48 subunit functioned as girl-bands, they had a great enjoyable choreo.

If they want to debut as a Kpop group, they should have the skills that the Korean audience want to back them up with.
    This isn’t charity work.
Why want something you’re not qualified for, then cry about it when you don’t get it? What about the million other trainees in Korea who have actually put in all the effort to become that good in what they do?
    This isn’t about cultural differences.
This is about qualification and expectation differences.
Exhibit A: the Japanese trainees that acknowledged their shortcomings and worked their asses off to debut, such as Sakura, Nako, and Hitomi (and the other trainees who debuted outside of izone like Juri)

This might come across as an aggressively hot take but I feel like the entire concept of PD48 was just a huge fap session for MNET and the Kpop industry as a whole. Heaven knows how rocky the relationship is between SK and Japan, so the fact SK was able to popularize their music industry with rigorous training and perfectionism is enough to want to rub it in Japan’s face. Clearly there’s a cultural difference between the two nations, so the fact that these poor Japanese girls were framed as talentless crybabies who compare themselves to the superior Kpop training system in the beginning kind of rubs me the wrong way. I love Kpop and used to love jpop so seeing both sides makes me look at the show in a different light than I would if I was biased to one country’s pop industry. I just know I’m boutta get flamed for this comment but y’all cannot tell me this show didn’t scream extreme nationalism 😭

I think Korean idols value their skills, appearance, and charm! I think I need these three things to become an idol
No matter how cute you are, there's a limit to becoming a star if you don't have skills. For example, Ariana Grande is pretty and attractive, right? But did Ariana Grande become a world star just because she's pretty?
She's a star because she's both talented and pretty. Likewise, Korean idols think that they can become stars when they have both!
This program is a competition program to become an idol, so you have to be good at dancing and singing but also need to be cute (but it doesn't mean that they can't give joy to their fans because they value their skills, appearance, and charm).
It doesn't mean that Japanese idols are wrong. What they think is more important is just different from Korean idols.. However, I think it is true that it is impossible to become a top star if you don't have enough skills

I've been in Kpop since 2007 and its exactly the same as the japanese girls are describing
I know at least 200 nugu kpop groups that sing and dance better than most top tier groups
but no one cares about them..
people PRETEND like they care about talent and sync but the actual truth is that
it only matters AFTER they decided that they like the idol themselves
THEN AND ONLY THEN it becomes something to LIKE about them.
    its like a bonus
its like a man who dates a hot woman who is also funny
the funny part is a bonus
if she wasn't hot to begin with.. no amount of jokes could save that relationship
or like a woman who dates a tall, strong, wealthy man who likes to collect barbie dolls
the barbie doll collecting aspect is adorable AS LONG THE OTHER ASPECTS ARE KEPT
if he was short, weak and poor.. suddenly the barbie doll collection is an instant "virgin" hobby.

It's emotionally and psychologically helpful for the idols and their fans
While in korea it's just about the fans all while discared the idols entirely like totally physically and emotionally and this is why depression among korean idols is way higher tha japanese
While in Japanese eating disorders is much higher than korea ( because of the culture btw and not the fans)

Group Idols in Japan are banned from dating due to the fact the core fan base are lonely single men.
If they are caught, they are made to do humiliating acts like shave their head to beg forgiveness of the "fans". while another got assaulted in her home when her bandmates leaked her details to the "fans" and the victim was made to apologise for daring to complain that she was assaulted.
One idol was stabbed multiple times by a "fan" after she graudated and the police did nothing leading up to the attack when she reported she got stalked.

    • @narudayo5053
      @narudayo5053 10 месяцев назад

They are not ban from dating. Only minors are ban from it because it's goes with the school rule of dating ban. It's more like "You can date but do it in secret" or sometimes it's promotional dates made to make news.
Also to add each companies have their own rules. But for AKB48 before the Minegishi incident, they already had a dating scandale before and it's was just a short blog post excuse, there is also fact that everyone knew that some members were already married.
Minegishi shaved her head because it was at time in which she felt insecure and talentless compare to other member, she was one of the oldest yet she was always ranked low. She didn't even told the staff that she was going to shave her head before going live. The fans got angry not because of the dating but because she acted in an excessive way (she talk about it recently in a jp tv show). One other member was even bullying other members and got yakuza involved.
Again each companies have their own rules. Some are shadier than other, like in any music industry.
It's like with japanese Vtubers, many people know about who they are in real life, but the fans never talk about it when talking about the Vtuber itself, because they are considered two different entities.

You think this is bad? The fans of J-idols are insane. And the agencies validate the behavior they have towards the girl.
From getting them to do lewd photoshoots despite being underage, banning them from being relationships and if caught forced to do humiliating rituals like shave head. they even made one idol apologise for complaining about being assaulted by "fans" in her own home and that it was her bandmates who leaked her location.
There was a case not so long ago where one of the former idols was stabbed by a "fan" and despite complaining to the polie she had a stalker they did nothing.
K-pop idols are atleast treated like adults and trained to be professionals not gratification outlets.
The j idols girls are also limited to what they can and cannot say.
