The trigger finger hand actually works really well as a callback to Return of the Jedi, because Luke was using Force Choke, like his father. Also, you're right, his all black outfit makes him look kinda villainous, which was the point. He's got some "villain" tendencies. Thus the Force Choke moment.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed the push hand would be good, because it could double as a pill hand, like when his hand is outstretched pulling his lightsaber to him.
I did say “force push hands” same time just fyi. I have this figure too and understand your frustration. Also his clothing gets darker each movie. I think it’s supposed to be like innocence to corruption when it was actually possible he was going to turn to the dark side. Was even written that way at one point.
Glad to see you got a white cloak for Mara 😉. I did the same too, got a black and a white hooded cloak from Figma styles for my Luke and Mara. Ditched the cloak that came with the figure. I prefer this plastic-free packaging. The plastic ones tend to bend lightsaber blades, making them curve. Luke's outfits darken as the movies progress. White in Ep4, Greyish in Ep5, Black in Ep6. But when he faces the Emperor to save Vader, the corner of his tunic is turned inside-out revealing white underneath. It is all about symbolism.
Woah, I'm shocked they went with a ball jointed waist, AND, you don't have the fabric tunic piece under the belt. All you need is a gsplot (off eBay) brown hooded wire cloak to make it look perfect for a ROTJ Luke.
9:11 I said "Lightsaber hand!"...which is crazy that we said two different things, hm 🤔. Cause an ungloved (battle damaged) hand or a force using hand or a skiff guard blaster is just asking _waaay_ too much from hasbro. C'mon, these figures are only like $40. Be grateful and say thank you that they give us one accessory.
Man, you're right; I can tell this is some of the best head you've gotten from hasbro. I have the Jedi Luke that was exclusive to walmart, but looks more like Sandy Duncan with a lot of makeup on...à la Mark post car accident from the holiday special. I'd love to find this figure at Target so I can do a switch-a-roo.
I can't remember, so where did the whole May 5th thing come from? Cause May 25th (or 25 May if you live literally anywhere else on the planet - cause you go from smallest to largest number) was when Star Wars premiered. And ya, it was just called Star Wars for the longest, not A New Hope or Episode IV (intravenous): Attack of the Needles.
SW black series and GI Joe classified are my jams. the last few series of joes have been pretty janky , and the cost of both lines is getting ridiculous. i use mr.hobby matt spray to take that shiny plastic look off of all of my BS/Classified figs. the soft goods are very massed produced feeling, and usually require nipping some of the extra seem fabric(if possible). they absolutely need to give us alternate hands, especially for the force users. great vid!

2:08 Really, 5' 7"? I thought you were _at least_ a 5' 9/10" guy. I'm a 1.77 meter man myself, and boy do I typically feel like a midget...especially around teenagers. Apparently the new average GMO height for 16 y/o volleyball girls that swarm Target's is 6' 2".
If you want to be impressed by a Hasbro Star Wars product I'd recommend The Vintage Collection Darth Vader (The Dark Times), TVC Deluxe Tatooine Boba Fett (BOBF), or TVC Deluxe Paz Vizsla (The Mandalorian).
The hood of his cloak is so messed up on mine. I thought the Vintage Series version looked bad but mine looks great. I saw a video where they took the lightsaber and pushed that inside part down
I'm just floored that we're in 2023 with the figures being $25 a piece and yet, Hasbro is still giving their Star Wars figures single joined elbows and knees, soft goods, and no additional hands. At least the lightsaber blade is finally removable. The sculpt is excellent though.
In regards to the Pinkertons: are you sure you don't mean a couple weeks ago when they stormed a guy's home to get some Magic the Gathering cards back?
Johnny Cash wore black, Undertaker wore black always bet on black, Luke the Farmboy, deserves to be in black. No but for real😂..... Can you imagine if they really made Luke like the Lone wolf and Cub (legendary series) in sci-fi, all journeys, oh writers strike😔
The cloth type that they use is very good for not fraying. That said, I still agree it's obviously lower quality without the sewn edges. I told ya, hit me up for some soft goods 😉 would love to work on something for ya!
I know this was a complaint in your video but using the trigger finger hand to hold the bottom part with the finger on the switch was kind of a genius move on your part. I had trouble having Luke hold his saber with two hands until I saw that portion of your video lol!
If it interests you, you should preorder that Jedi Luke (the Mandalorian ver) that SHFiguarts is re-releasing- the Mark Hamill likeness is the best I’ve seen and he comes with *gasp* force push hands! The soft goods cloak is wired frustratingly but the figure itself is one of my favourite 1/12 scale figures of all time. I’d love to see you review that when it drops in a few months (I think December)
Ok. So it’s my first video…uhm I do enjoy the studio quality picture and sound. I like the dual screen. Fun to watch the frustrated face as you attempt to place the light saber on the belt. The rambling is alright I guess. 100% I said force pushing hands with you. The cape is ok. The hood is horrible. Posing section was cool. Nice that you went all expanded universe. I enjoyed photographing Mara and Luke together too. It’s an okay offering for finale of season two. I bought a wired hood cape so it makes the figure as good as it should have been. I guess you didn’t have a Dark Trooper figure. Luke cutting through that army is fun to reproduce in figure form.
So, you making that joke when you showed off the wrist articulation reminded me of the family guy star wars joke when Luke first got his robotic hand and the droid told him to practice on a hot dog first or he'll rip his dick off.
Funnily enough, in The Mandalorian and TBoBF Luke wears full jedi robes, like the Jedi of the prequels. However this figure still has Luke wearing the black suit from ROTJ with the Jedi tunic over top. Meaning, this figure technically is more accurate to ROTJ Luke than it is to the Luke we see in the shows.
Actually Luke had to tap into the dark side in order to beat Vader in Return of the Jedi... Luke is kinda half Jedi and half sith... that's what makes him so powerful 😁...great review as always man👊👊
@Nostalgia Unboxed it's funny. I just noticed that if you look, the vintage collection version comes with a blaster. I'm not sure when luke used a blaster tho.
@Nostalgia Unboxed I think it's because that look was supposed to be a part of the rancor haslab, and Luke actually uses the force to take a blaster before he falls into the rancor pit.
@@NostalgiaUnboxedI don't know what the blaster is in the 3 3/4'' but Luke attempted to shoot Jabba and he carried his blaster in-hand when he arrived at Cloud City. So the toy having a blaster included does make sense. And if not movie accurate it is at least an accessory for a toy to add play value for (supposed) children to play with. I thought your intro was quite funny.
pinkertons? didnt i wipe them out in red dead 2? hasbro needs to lose the star wars license already. i dropped out awhile ago now because of how lazy they are with their figures. no ab crunches, no force power hands, lack of accessories all across the board, and at a high price point. hopefully figuarts does way more star wars characters.
