    I've been briefcase shopping and the Marlando looks very impressive in this review but I personally can't get past them being made in China.

      Same I’m in mfg and don’t want Chinese metal so can’t justify a Chinese bag

    Loved this video. You can’t please everyone. Saw some rude comments here. I think you’re doing a fine job. Keep it up!

    I’m gonna comment my own typed review of the bag, I just got mine. Same bag as this but in Tobacco...
    Initial Review of the Etsy SolidLeatherCo (AKA Marlondo Leather Co) Vegetable Tanned Double Space Briefcase/ Leather Messenger Bag in 16” Tobacco:
    Ordered 16” in Tobacco, 28 May 2019. Shipped 29 May 2019. Free shipping, arrived today via UPS (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to 29 Palms, California). Customer service is 11/10, fast & detailed! I saw this detailed RUclips Review by you so I wanted to write the difference between your 2017 to my 2019 version . I noticed a couple of differences, your 2 pockets on the inside divider are pigskin, mine are leather but I like it. Here are 3 design differences I don’t understand: my outside buckled pocket does not have strap pigskin lining for strength, only the front half of the inside large compartment has a pigskin lined bottom, and the edges are not burnished at all. One thing they did definitely upgrade is that my 2019 version of the bag strap pads are actually padded inside for more comfort. You can see it and fill it, it’s got something inside it now.

    Thanks for the review! I have a Marlondo Wing Briefcase on the way. Looking forward to a lifetime of use from it.

    you stated that the lack of rivet on the Saddle back leather caused the stitching to start coming out in the back, did you send it back since it has a great warranty and does Marlondo have a comparable warranty?

    I have the Double Space in 16” Tobacco but I caved in today and set a pre-order for a Wing Briefcase in 14”. I feel the DS 16” is too big for school for me. It’ll just be my travel bag. My Wing 14” will be my everyday and camera bag!

    I’ve got products from both company’s and SBL has better feel and the leather is more robust and don’t wrinkle as easy, but that was when they still used the dark pigskin and thicker cuts of leather, But now who knows marlando may have sbl beat.

    Which of the two do you think people should invest in more? Which is a better quality?

    • @simplifiedreviews
      @simplifiedreviews  6 лет назад +1

      I think it comes down to the look you like more. If you like the saddleback look and are willing to pay the price go for it. I believe the marlondo offers a better bang for the buck. As for quality older saddlback bags of years ago had definitely better quality. The newer bags are questionable.

    6 minutes into this and it is obvious which one you prefer. This is not a dispassionate evaluation.

    I would ask the questions WHY does Marlondo manufacture in China? My guess? It's cheap. Vs. Saddleback manufacturing in Mexico with the intent of teaching their workers a craft and providing for them a better life. I'm leery of any "durable good" made in China.

    • @nikhilsrl
      @nikhilsrl 5 лет назад

      It's lazy to assume that the Chinese cannot make durable goods and there are no craftsmen in China. In fact isn't quite possible that with time they developed the required skill, if they did not already have it. After all it's been a long time since manufacturer's have been using China as their location of choice.

      What’s not mentioned is Marlondo is a typical Chinese knockoff manufacturer of Saddlebacks products. If you go to their website they have quite a few ripoffs of Saddlebacks bags. Marlondo doesn’t reinvest in the US economy, they don’t donate to charities, They don’t have a customer service department that you can call and as far as I can tell they have no return policy or guarantee. It seems like the reviewer is trying to justify purchasing a clearly inferior product. The whole video is strange to me because it’s clearly bias to one bag.

  • @hoalex8089

    Every single item you compare is always Marlondo better than Saddleback. Very obviously bias.

  • @MatthaeusCaesar

    I know Saddleback uses more expensive metals. It is a little suspicious that both your bags look new and you're reviewing them. Saddleback is considered the higher quality choice.

    • @simplifiedreviews
      @simplifiedreviews  6 лет назад +1

      The Marlondo is newer by a few months but I believe both were about 6 months old at that point. Both bags take a long time to break in and look used. I also own a bunch of bags so they are used as much as possible but I typically keep 3 or so bags in rotation at a time.

      Matthew Hamilton
      Considered the more expensive choice.
      Saddleback uses chrome tanned leathers. A vastly inferior leather to vegetable tanned leather.

    • @coltonc18
      @coltonc18 6 лет назад +3

      Saddleback is definitely more expensive, but I wouldn't say they are the better choice. It can be a lot on preference. Saddleback uses only Chrometan leather, unless they are having a special and will sometimes have veg tan leather. Marlondo now offers veg tan all the time. Veg tan leather is above and beyond better than chrome tan bags.

  • @EmanuelC1988

    316 stainless is a FAR superior choice for materials in place of brass. And the 3 part bottom is just another area where the put cost savings over durability... this is not an impartial review

    is Marlondo considered a knockoff of Saddleback Leather?

    • @simplifiedreviews
      @simplifiedreviews  7 лет назад +4

      Saddleback leather popularized the design of the briefcase however that design was present decades before saddleback used it. These bags are all based off the same design but I wouldn't say it is a knock off. The design of the classic briefcase existed far before saddleback was ever a company.

      @@simplifiedreviews bottom line...Yes its a knock off. U sound like u were paid to do this. Your lazy response is as easy as claiming that the Tote bag existed decades before LV made it popular. Ur reviews and view are classically lazy.

  • @arkitekrb4802

    I think comparing the two is a actually unfair like who copied who? I think dave designed the saddleback briefcase first. And ofcourse even if we payed almost half the price but what if the bag detriorates faster? Does also marlondo also 100 years? I think even both of the bags get weary or get torned which of them can u send for repair for free? Right? I just dont like the copy cats tho. Oh ur using the SBL copycat😂i think Marlondo should have its own orginal design so it can have its oen distinctive character.

    Any shoulder bag weighing over 500 grams is more for style than functionality. I love leather but they are not for my active lifestyle. People who spend a load of money on leather bags, then argue the merits of stitchings and designs among various leather companies, buy these for nothing more than aesthetics.

  • @LAFD54

    There is no comparison! Saddleback is so much superior. Marlondo uses cheap brass plated hardware where Saddleback uses superior surgical quality stainless steel. Marlondo is simply cheap looking on all fronts!

    You need to learn how to use a video editing program. Slow down, take a breath, calm down. Edit out your mistakes.
    Stop saying “you”. We don’t own the bags. You do. We would be fine with you saying how you use the bags. Saying how “you”(as in your viewers) use the bag is a beyond annoying.
