Good vid on the different coil options. Would be keen to hear about using the SDC standard coil submerged in water. I had it half a foot under water in a creek and it gave off so many false targets I gave up. I don’t see the point of the SDC being waterproof if it doesn’t go well underwater. But otherwise a great detector.

there could be a number of reasons for this- water itself won't cause false signals- if the creek you are working in has a lot of basalt cobble, that will cause havoc with any machine, or if in a non basalt area, it could simply be concentrated pockets of magnetic black sand or even pockets of iron or other metallic trash. Some more info on the area you were in would help us get to the bottom of it

@@MinersDenAustralia ok thanks for the info. Next time I’m out I’ll put it in a creek and get some footage

How small will the 14x9 coil detect ??

    • @MinersDenAustralia

it may find 0.1's and 0.2's fairly shallow but will get a bit more depth on the 1g and bigger bits

Gpx 5000 for machine, Will handmade 30 inch mono coils heads damage the device? Or Gpx 5000 for dangerus ?

If the resistance (i think) of the coil is not matched for the technology of the machine you may have some problems- i have heard of home made coils causing damage in extreme cases. In less drastic cases you end up with a noisy / unstable machine when using the coil but no damage as such.

    Changing coils voids your warranty

minelab have retracted that- warranty will not be voided by using the Coiltek coils, unless the unit is submersed and suffers water ingress.
