It was hard to respect a Luke pining for a woman he couldn’t have, led around by the nose by Jennifer and shuffling around as Frank’s “boy.” Now he blows up! Maybe knowing Laura is a vague possibility has given him newfound strength. Enough!!! I love this strong Luke! He is his own man and using Jennifer as leverage is brilliant. The writing was fantastic! Now we head off in search for the Left Handed Boy! And so it begins . . . fasten your seatbelts. 😮
I actually looked forward to when it got to this point because Luke's demeanor around Frank Smith became more confident and dominant and not so submissive. Love this forceful, strong, powerful Luke.
I admire Luke's character the way he isn't afraid to talk straight to anyone even a mob boss. As part of his past on elm Street seeing a lot of criminality, he is very determined not to be a criminal and it's incredibly important to him to make sure he doesn't get sucked into the criminal end of the business.

I was 19 yo, married and had a 1 year old and we lived in an apartment complex with 10 buildings that held 24 apartments. It was very hot that summer and in the evening residents would all gather at the picnic tables and talk about LnL !!/:)
My aunt was stationed in the army in Germany. They couldn't get GH over there. Every week I would write her and tell her what happened between Luke and Laura and she would read it to all her friends 😊😊
Wow! This is one part I don't remember at all. Another turning point in the story! The more I watch the more I think they could connect today's drunk, married to Tracy, not doing anything the character would do Luke, to losing Laura and make it all make sense to us. I guess they would have had to watch all of this to make that connection though. I think that is the basic problem. They do not know the history that a lot of the viewers do.

They rewrote their entire history by saying Luke always cheated on Laura and is the father of Ethan. That I think is what most old time viewers is upset about. Don't try to destroy the love that Luke and Laura shared.

Luke says he's going to have it out with Frank Smith because he's in the right mood. Meaning he's realized he played all his cards on the sailboat and he still can't have Laura so he doesn't care what happens to him. That's been true Luke character over the years. Without Laura he becomes even more reckless.
Frank is a great bad guy but no "Godfather" would allow an employee to talk to him the way Luke did. I also would never buy the idea that Frank would ever kill Jennifer. Yes, I know that these kind of men have killed their own sons, but Jennifer was the ONLY blood Frank had, also she adored Daddy, and he her. He loved her so much that he tolerated Luke's shit. Luke made it clear he was only marrying Jennifer to get to the top, Frank knew he loved Laura, but Jennifer wanted Luke and Daddy wanted to give her anything she wanted. No way that would fly in real life.
