Thanks Deb! It's nice to be able to give them something they can use and they know it is theirs to keep. Each of the kids has loved their quilts and my wife makes them red white and blue socks as well.
I love starting new projects, but don't ask me about finishing them. I am working to set better goals. I rarely make the deadlines for my quilts, so I just finish when I can. I don't like being stressed for my hobby. I like to sew a little bit each day if I can. I am excited for the Wild West PMQ to start. I have not tried snippets, but I love the concept. Your snippet project is coming out lovely. The quilt fabrics for the girl's quilts are so fun. Rainbow is always a good way to go. It was great to see everyone at the guild meeting. It was a busy family weekend for me, so not much sewing. Happy sewing!

I tend to put pressure on myself when sewing something for others which is most of my sewing. I’m hoping my next project will be for me and therefore less pressure 😊

The girls are sew blessed to have you as their host dad. I know they will cherish those quilts. I like deadlines. If not the huge procrastination dragon looms overhead. Remember we are ADD. We need some type of structure 😅
Sewing to a deadline…I work with deadlines in my day job, so that stays away from my quilting. When I was younger I could sew for hours and hours, and I could really push myself. As I age Iam my own nay-sayer and think of all the pushing the world does on myself, and so I push myself less to a deadline. Obviously I push myself to the finish. Your simple but colorful squares quilt is gonna be wonderful! Love the vibrant colors!

That quilt is coming along really quickly. I’m an Olympic level procrastinator and will leave things to the very last minute if I’m not careful. I quite like sew alongs even informal ones as I usually always do my homework and keep up to date. Changed days from school! 😉😂
Me too. I'd probably be odds on favourite for the gold medal in that sport. Usually im attaching binding and the hanging sleeve late on the night before the quilt show each year. Im terrible about keeping up with sewalongs and just enjoy the journey. If i wasnt an ambassador for CC id probably be behind on the PMQ too. 🤣
Not hard deadlines-further down the line deadlines! Birthdays, holidays, etc. I tend to get started early so I don't have pressure to immediately finish😊
I am a reverse procrastinator. I do the things I don’t want to do first and right away so I can savor the fun things. I rarely suffer under deadlines and it keeps stress away.
@@TheGuyWhoSews I learned that a long time ago. Put the big stones in the jar first. The things I don’t want to do are big stones. Then you have room for the small stones and the sand.
I struggle with ADHD, and if I am not feeling a project, it is difficult for me to find the motivation to work on it. On the flip side, if I am into it, I can hyperfocus and lose track of time. I really like what you are doing with your snippets. That fabric is cool.

They will be in love with the quilts…what a great welcoming present for each of them! As for deadlines….if I have the time…they are ok…but not if things are busy…makes me nervous and I make more mistakes!
G'day Lisa Marie! For the exchange students we pick them. We get sent a bunch of applications to go through so we can pick the students that we feel would be the best fit for our family and them. It depends on the year but its not unusual for us to go through 30-50 applications each year. Often we get the current student(s) to help as well. We usually host girls but last year hosted the boys as they were the best fit for us. The previous kids have loved the quilts as its something that can use each day and get to take home them when the year is over. I dont like deadlines but sometimes thats the only way i get projects completed.
Morning! Deadlines.. hmm I don’t really care for them. But when I do have one, (even though I plan and set attainable goals) I notice I tend to sew without taking breaks, which is not healthy. So in conclusion, deadlines are not good for your health, which is why I don’t like them.. I am always working on several projects at a time. Keeps things interesting.
I've NEVER worked well under pressure and now that I'm an adult with autoimmune issues, pressure equals stress. Stress triggers autoimmune issues so I avoid it as much as possible (since life is stressful anyways). I say NO a LOT because I don't need the stress of a deadline.

I decide daily what I am doing. Wish I was better at scheduling. I have sewing, embroidery, long arm so sometimes it’s hard doing all 😂.

I stress under deadlines but without them I'll never complete anything lol. I love the colors in the quilt. I caught both lives and they were fun.

Gifts usually have deadlines. I find it tends to make sewing less enjoyable. Sew alongs have hopeful goals. These are more fun.

I don't like to be a deadline sewist, but it seems it is the way of my world...sigh

It's important to know when to say no as its so easy to get in over your head. I've had to do that a number of times for different things.
Deadline? If I try to impose a hard deadline on myself, it never fails that I will catch a cold or something 🙄
Yeah that seems to happen to me a lot too. Much prefer to sew on my own timeline :)
