The color variation theory. From the best of my knowledge from decades of looking/reading all steam was painted black. In your pictures of question my thought is the boiler jacket is insulated and the paint will weather differently from the smoke box which has no jacket/insulation. I would imagine the “lighter” color variation on the boilers is just due to the fact some gloss is still left on the paint at the time of the photo vs the smoke box. Great modeling!
You're making good progress. That was a neat little local you had running. Also a COOL GE Demo. Keep up the Great work, and can't wait to see more!!!! Dave
Thank you!!!! It'll be fun when I get to full ops. The coal and ore trains will have to pay dodge ems with locals and passenger trains. The dispatcher job should be pretty fun and busy.
You don't need to apologize for taking time off for those kids. Nothing wrong with working a good cause, whether it's a drum line or the B&LE main line! Good looking local loco. Looking forward to seeing it weathered, like some of your other great-looking locos. Love those GEs!❤☺ 🚂Lawrence
I plan on making the steam switchers, and the 2-8-0's looking pretty beat when I go to do them. I have a few done I'm pretty happy with. This makes my 16th season coaching marching band, though this is the first year in a while. Like railroading, it kinda gets in your blood.
@@bessemerlakeerieinhoscale6061 Yup, it sure does get into one's blood. (used to tutor in a community program and more recently in the AutoCAD lab at the city college - fun stuff, but I found those college kids were about 3 steps ahead of me!)🤕
Another great video! I worked for GE at the very beginning of my career - Philadelphia, Re-entry Systems Division. 1981 (you probably weren't born yet...lol!)
Well, I was a toddler, lol. I'm a Wilmington, NC nuke power guy these days, but I work remotely. It's been sad, the last 10 years watching GE be dismantled, but probably for the best. Thanks, Mark!
So she's still kicking, happy, stands at the door to the garage and watches the kittens play. I'm sure she'll make another appearance soon! I need my chief engineer to finish laying out Branchton.
Thank you for sharing.👍
Looks good. I love demo units they add to the layout for some surprising reason.
They add interest when in a consist.
As usual, looking good. Thank you for the update and all the hard work you put in.
Thank you!

The insulation explanation makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Good update…nice running steamer…definitely won’t loose that demo unit on the layout 😊
It definitely stands out!
Awesome! Looking great. The U25 GE locomotive looks great. Good video. 👍
Thank you! Putting sound in that might be a good blizzard project this winter.
Another great video!
