- Layout update for 7/7/24. 0-8-0 #256 is a Proto 2000 model I re-lettered and added LED lights and TCS V4 sound to with Scale Sound System Speakers. We take a look at new trackage in the diesel servicing area including ready tracks, fuel delivery tracks, along with a misc set out track. A neat turnout control button I first saw on Peter Lee's channel, link below along with the button.

Wow, from a sketch on a paper napkin at dinner, to a working circuit + video in 26 hr.
Thanks for the help! I enjoy these little puzzles.
Love what you are doing Ray!
Thank you!!
256 looks and runs great and the new trackage looks like it will definitely improve the engine facility and make it more fun to operate. I like that turnout push button with the two different colors so you know which way the turnout is thrown. Great job on the layout.
Thank you for sharing.👍
I love that older proto 2000 steam engines are still finding places on DCC layouts, its a wonderful sight
Yeah I love proto's, I have a 0-6-0 with tcs planning to get a 0-8-0 love this thanks!
@@RTtrains thats awesome!
I have the 2 0-8-0's, an 0-6-0, and 3 2-10-2's, all with TCS. They are all great runners and pullers and look good too. Absolutely love them.

You have done a lot over the weekend. Can't wait to see it finished.nice!
Who knows if I'll ever be finished. But I'm having a lot of fun trying.
Always look forward to your updates, Ray. Peter does amazing work!
I'm loving the Sydney project. Peter makes Tuesdays worth doing.
That shops area looks great! Love that 0-8-0, those just look powerful...
All business for sure!
thanks great up date
You power complex looks amazing. I would love to run it for you!!!
Awesome work, Ray. Does one of your earlier videos show the entire track plan?
Yep. It's changed a little, things slid around a little.... but nothing huge.

Loving how the layout is coming along! The big tonnages in the transition era are always fascinating. Would you be interested in 3D printed outside clasp trucks for those hoppers? I've designed and printed some for the Carbon County Railway out here in Utah, which was another U.S. Steel road.
@coreybonsall I got some from ..... I forget who. They're nice. But I'll pass, the ones with the kits are close ish, and I have hundreds to do.... thanks for watching!
do you have a wiring diagram for the red/ green push buttons? I have ordered these and looking forward to getting them hooked up. Thanks. Great video as always.
@randytiell6853 I do not. At the end of the day it wires pretty much like you would any other led indicator
@@bessemerlakeerieinhoscale6061 I think we have it figured out but just needing some confirmation. Did you have to put a resistor on the LED leads?
@@randytiell6853 if you're coming right off the tortise, yes.
@@bessemerlakeerieinhoscale6061 I really appreciate the info. Thanks and will be awaiting your next video update.
Can you tell me more about the kadee power trucks you put in your new 0-8-0? I have one of those too and it has pickup issues.
Sure. Just remove the stock tucks (the chains come out by gently prying up the pin with an xacto) and putting the trucks in. Each truck grabs one rail. You'll need to drill a hole to pass the wire through and patch it in to the power from the harness. I'm also running a keep alive.

Big fan, always somehow end up watching these within an hour of uploading, it seems this time im so early (16 seconds) the audio hasnt made it to the video yet 😂
The video does in deed have audio now 👌
Lol yeah there's a weird point when you first upload like that. Thanks for watching!
What was that steam locomotive chassis from and why is it sitting there?
A project I set aside for a bit. (Literally and figuratively apparently) it was a prr decapod I'm reworking into the chasis of a 2-10-4. I'll get back to that one of these days soon.
