so his parents divorced and then he told himself he will keep his promise and never leave his wife, then he took a pen and this beautiful song was created.
This song has inspired me to once more reconcile with my estranged wife for 6 years.. We had a misunderstanding and we eventually drifted apart despite living in the same house but in separate rooms.. It all started again with me reaching out to her .. all along she was only waiting for my move.. Now we understand and love each other even better than before.. We were lucky enough to have not engaged with any other third party.. It was because of the 3 children we cared for and the high morality in us.. and also with the encouragements and teachings of our parents and siblings who knew about our situation.. In those 6 years.. we both confessed to have some how lost our love for each other.. but still living in the same house reminded us of our promise to God.. and we never totally abandoned our love that we still pray for each other at the end of the day or before falling asleep at night. 💟
How to touching is your story.
Been divorced for 6 years now from being married for 32 years, 3 lovely sons. He met a young girl, younger than our youngest son, that ended our marriage. Yes, we had our ups and downs through the years we were together.
Been single since then. I thought it's for the better. Yes and no.
There is no moment that he is not in my mind but I have no choice but move on.

I played this song and all of SCC’s records hundreds of times for years in the 80s and 90s as I married and built my family. I saw him in concert twice. I wanted so much for this to be true with my wife. She did not reciprocate.

Absolutely one of my very favorite CCM artist and worship leaders of all time, but very disappointed that he has endorsed such a grossly unbiblical book as The Shack.
No disrespect, I like Steven Curtis Chapman because he's the original singer of this beautiful song. But I'd recommend to everyone, try to listen to the cover of Gary Valenciano (The iconic Filipino singer/actor). Gary's rendition has so much more passion, heart and soul, at least to me...:)
