Thank you for the helpful advice in this video. This has helped me a lot as I have only just come back into Lego after 31 years of absence and I do love this hobby. It's great to be back and to explore Lego content channels like this one. Keep up the great work. All the best, Peter.
Would you ever do a video on the topic of the “BrickLink Designer Program”? Such as which ones have sold the most, when is the right time to sell, buy to sell, ect? Love the content! Keep it up!
With eBay, the fees are even worse now that USPS has gotten rid of certain cheap shipping options. Between a totally glutted reseller market and problems like these, making real money on eBay reselling sealed retired Lego is very difficult. And while you can resell certainly highly desirable used sets easily there, obviously the more a set sells for, the more Ebay is going to take from the sale.
Thank you for this video. This is my first year investing in Lego. So still trying to figure out the best avenues to sell new Lego sets. Your video really gave me some great options to explore, especially District.
I recently had a guy on Facebook who wanted to buy a Lego set from me. He wrote to me, said he wanted to buy it. I said lovely. He never said anything back. So yeah, you have to deal with unserious people on Facebook.
The pricing on your district page is wild, even for currently available sets. Why would anyone overpay on that platform when they can get the set for MSRP or even 20% off in most cases. The executor (75356) is currently available for $70 from Walmart and Lego with free shipping, you’ve priced it at $100 plus shipping.
Just like eBay sellers can charge whatever they want. I haven’t controlled the pricing inside of the Jake’s bricks district yet. If a set is too high it likely won’t sell. You probably aren’t seeing any “deals” per se because they are likely sold.or they sell quickly. Hope this helps
I like what I heard you say about stockx . If they could improve the time to customer would be amazing. Verified shipping would eliminate scams by 99%. If eBay or Amazon would make that option and at a small increase to fees would be icing on the cake
@@rbletitgo4948 after applying all of their fees, their prices are no longer attractive. They will list that $500 set for $400, but after all the fees, you'll pay $484 for it (this is just an example). I don't think it is worth it.
District sounds just like whatnot absolutely identical, if ur on whatnot your building a community or district and people come to your shows because they know you. U also sell stuff in the BIN just like district the big difference is the shear amount of people on whatnot compared to district, honestly don’t see district making it long. Even Duck bricks sells More on whatnot and M&R is on whatnot as well as a ton of other huge RUclips Lego channels
We will see! They are definitely similar. Although you can’t connect in real time with the creator or community outside of the live in whatnot like you can in district. Additionally each district allows other sellers to sell inside of it. Whatnot is great for creators just not for the average LEGO seller. But time will tell!
Sellers misusing the shipping cost (i.e. pricing product for 0.99 and grossly increasing shipping cost) on eBay was the probable cause for them adding fees for shipping. The shipping label bulk discount on ebay kind of helps with that. However, charging fees on tax is ridiculous and the high fees on eBay overall hurt.
Hello Jake~! Excellent video! I really appreciate all your great input on this :) What do you think about building a website for LEGO reselling? Do you think it has a potential?
Thankfully I’ve held off selling my husbands Star Wars Lego until I’d sold loads of other stuff around the house. In the UK, EBay has got rid of all fees (except for vehicles) I’d have hated to sell all his Lego and paid the fees. Then they announced it was free to sell after. I hope they start to do the same on other EBay sites. 👍 I was looking to see the best way to sell. Was hoping there would be a magical place that would take everything as it is 😂 Not looking forward to having to dismantle it all.
Very informative. My problem is that I have an old “sealed” modular set that I would like to sell and I am not having any luck in doing this. It’s a bit expensive and I think that is the issue. Any comment would be much appreciated.
When I'm looking for legos online I often shop on ebay cause alot of peopl sell sets at discount if they remove figures and uthers cell brick and figure grab bags lots with random figs and pieces. This works great for me cause everything I build is modified in some wzy. I mis figures for my oene idias and modify sets to my likeing.
It just got added so sellers will need to update their listings to turn on shipping to Australia. If you find something your interested in feel free to message the seller

Thank you, I never fully understood all of the differences that make platforms so different to sell on
Glad this video helped
I love videos like this. The other youtubers I listen to focus a lot on the buying part, so its amazing to see updated videos on selling.
Thx Pierce!
'Only does this as a small time gig' while sitting in a rooms with a least a few hundred boxes on warehouse shelves XD
Hey there are dudes do this full time and I am far from that ha
@@JakesBricks I tried using your District but it only allows US or Canada it seems..
@@mpc007 Ahhhh yes for now that is true. I think they just added Australia. What country are you in?

FB Marketplace is the terrible lately
The District is great, i look forward to selling on there Jake, once it comes to my neck of the woods the UK.
Whatnot is already in the uk
This is true! Hoping district gets the uk soon!
@@jasonBrown-ol2lz Yes i know it is, i already sell on there but not Lego.

Yes I remember the .99 + $45 shipping days. eBay imo has started to price people out. Curious if they will continue to be a long term viable option
Great vid Jake! Amazon and their customers are the worst to deal with BUT they definitely move the most volume so a Bezos-Bozo I remain.
It is definitely still the best to move volume!!!
Bricklink FTW!
Great place for all things LEGO. Terrible interface IMO

I signed up for district. I have a 10x10 storage unit of sets going back to 2014. Any advice on using your platform??
Hey Nuhbuddys I think we chatted over at District! Glad to have you on there. If you have any more questions dm me over there
Hey Jake, this is great! Can you now do one on packaging/boxing and shipping etc? 📦 🙏

You have a huge project on your hands! But could be fun! I can't believe eBay got rid of fees in the UK thats amazing!!!
Amazon recently removed the seasonal Xmas Tree and Sleigh because they are "discontinued". Do you think this is a problem going forward?
I have heard it’s really difficult to get listings activated or rebuilt so it could be for sure

@@JakesBricks sorry this took so long. I have a Green Grocer set.

which options on Europe? Ebay doesnt work properly in europe...
FB Marketplace is probably your best bet over there although I don't know of many alternatives

@@JakesBricks ok great thanks a lot I’ll be sure to check what sets u guys have listed
I sell on ebay and the fees are crazy. I am trying to sell some on facebook.
Truth! Fees on eBay keep going up
Beicklink is a mess and you would think when Lego purchased them they would make it easier and become more technologically advanced
I know!!!
Buy it for you and not to sell, it isn't difficult.
I do both!
Unfortunately Ebay is still the best method option with the fees. Someone needs to create a new Ebay with 8-10% fees
For now eBay is still the best for sure!
As a side gig eBay is the most realistic and easiest way to sell.
Absolutely! For now!
Agreed.
I sell lego in Walmart Marketplace also.
Oh yes I have heard people doing this! Do you like it?
@@JakesBricks Yes, been having more and more sell than Amazon. 15% fee too. Prices a bit much higher than Amazon in many set.
@@MrWinwin13interesting, is it easy to get started selling there or is it like Amazon?
How's the return rate when selling on walmart for lego? Do you have a rough percentage of the amount of open boxed returns or fraud that you get?
Walmart great for Lego
Selling or buying?
